Thanks everyone!
Vadersmistress66, thanks for the advice, I hope I'll find something like that here in Russia!
Queen_Apailana, I used the genuine leather. It is rather expensive, but I was lucky to have a pair of my mum's leather trousers, she never worn which were too small for her!

Well, I have an update again! I've solved the problem with the skirt! I decided not to cover the white fabric with black lace, but to use the black velveteen and to embroider it with silver sewing by my sewing-machine. Oh... I hope, it'll turn out well.
And here is a pic of my skirt. It doesn't have the embroidery yet. I lighted it up because it was too dark and the skirt was hardly seen.

love your corset Sotis
i've been thinking of making this costume. Just checked smart set for the belt but didn't see it, i'll have to check a couple other locations to see if any of them have it.

Hi, my name is Abigael. I'm planning on doing this outfit for SupaNova here in Brissie. I'll update more as I progress. At the moment, I'm drafting a pattern out of calico for the skirt and corset

RE: The Black Corset Piece
hey guys,
I had finished my under-corset a few weeks ago; it turned out really well, even with using plastic bones. I have made a pattern after 19th century corstets, and at least for me it works great. I cannot post pics yet, though.
For the main corset I will use beamless (?) pleather, for those in Germany its quite cheap at kaufhof, especially now after the carnival. but... I got seperated from my sewing machine
! so I have to continue with the skirt for now. and here's the problem: I cannot find the matching lace! if anyone has seen something like this in the UK, please tell me where. All I see is round patterns, while the amidala one is triangle-pattern.
regards, marté

RE: The Black Corset Piece
I'm looking to buy this dress, and I can have it commisioned, but she asked me some questions that i really don't know what would be better. If someone could give me some advice, that would be great, i've been reading this thread and if anyone would know, it would be you ladies. Is plastic boned light top good, or would the steel boned be better? And for the skirt is random poly lace overlay ok?

RE: The Black Corset Piece
Ok, so in case I do end up going to C4 *crosses fingers* I've started fixing little things that have bothered me on my costumes. I'm going to add some gores to the skirt to make it flare more at the bottom, and I might re-make the entire corset. But for now I'm just taking the necklace apart and re-stringing the beads on narrow black ribbon. This holds them a lot better than thread, which is what I had used before. I was nervous the whole time at C3 that they would break and scatter all over the floor. So the ribbon is going to greatly help my peace of mind. I'm using mostly 1/8" wide ribbon, but for some of the really small beads I had to get 1/16" wide, which is kind of hard to find. Oh, and I'm also going to redo the headpiece as well. In fact, the only thing I'm not touching is the feather wrap, which I am completely happy with.
Just for reference, here are two pics with me in them from C3:
Not the best pictures, and I'm not even wearing the headpiece. I think it had broken by that point, which is why I'm remaking it. Hmmm, I think I should take some good pictures of me in all my costumes this summer...

Hi Ame!
Hopefully, I will see you at C4! Keep us posted with pictures as you fix up the costume. I will be fixing a few of the trims on the blue robe and improving a few of my other older SW costumes too.

Thanks ecila! Your blue robe is so amazing. I hope to see you again at C4, too!
Anyway, I did get around to taking some good full-length shots of me in my costumes, so here are the corset ones:
I haven't done anything major to it other than the beads since C3. And they're not reattached correctly yet. I just did a quick photo shoot the other night, not really spending a lot of time on hair and makeup, but you get the idea.
My sister laced up the corset for me, and she didn't pull it all the way shut since I was just in a hurry to get the pictures taken. I'm going to remake the corset anyway since I learned that it doesn't lace up in the back. I'm toying with the idea of invisible zippers...
Pics of my other two costumes can be found in their respective threads (
family
and
light blue Tatooine
) or on my website.

Its not completed yet, as my mother is working on the beading and my daughter and I will be doing the feather cape and head bands ourselves....but here is my version of this gown for my 10 year old, and she loves it.
I had to draft the corset pattern down from a womans size 6 to a very small size (she has a 67cm chest!
) So it was very fiddly, and I have made it so it laces up tight so she can grow and maybe get another year out of it. I have enough lace left to make a second skirt if she grows out of this one. I also have a long dark wig that she will wear with it for Supanova in Sydney in Oct. Sadly it does make my 10 year old look alot older than she is, but then its just a costume and to be honest I've seen her wear less on stage during her regular ballet concerts....
And yes, its winter here in Australia and thats my back yard....
