O.K. it wasn't my Jedi robe tonight, but....
Look for us in the papers!
I just got home tonight from being live and on stage (in stormtrooper armor) with the group "No Doubt"
We (a small group of stormtroopers) appeared on stage to open their show here in Chicago at the Aragon ballroom tonight.
They hung out with us in our dressing area and then they invited us up to their dressing room. WE took pictures and lots of them.
During the opening of the show, we pretty much stood still and raked the crowd with our blasters for the opening number.
Then they asked us back for their encore and they played a little of the Imperial March while we marched back on stage.
It was so cool! They had us standing in a line directly in front of the drum riser and their stage manager even blocked our places to stand.
For the encore they wanted us to 'let loose' so we danced around on stage.
The band members were all in front of us, except for the drummer.
I was directly in the middle (because I was the shortest trooper) and we were all dancing and playing 'air blasters' along with the band.
WE had a camera person in the press pit, so there will be pictures soon.
I got home first to post this because I live a few blocks away from where they played tonight.
This is so weird and such a blast!
I was on stage with a pretty big name band.....in armor.
The band high-5ed & hugged us and stuff on stage.
I knew I was right when I said 'everything would be better with armor.'

Wow...
I know I was talking to my 501st buddy, and he was telling me about you guys doing that with No Doubt. He even had a chance to appear with them in Denver (which would had been really cool) but that would have been like their first tour stop or something like that and he didn't want to be the lone trooper up on stage... well he had some excuse.
But still that's really cool. I love No Doubt. Maybe next time they have a concert here I'll go SW
I envy you...
*mumbles* need to get some of that armor too.

I woke up again this morning to see if it wasn't all just a dream.
Yes. We did do that last night.
I have my "SW" back-stage-pass and hopefully pictures (soon) of us 'arresting' the whole band to prove it.
The guys from the band were so cool.
I think they had as much fun as we did.
They came down to our dressing area a couple times to check out our armor.
We gave the whole band their own 'GOT ARMOR?' Tshirts and the trooper who makes the shirts made a special 'baby-T' for Gwen. I mentioned to Gwen that she could cut the bottom down and it would be perfect! I left my sewing scissors at home, otherwise I would have taken care of that for her right there.
Now I see the necessity of having a laser pointer installed in my blaster. The lasers looked so cool 'shooting' over the crowd through all of the stage smoke.

That is so great, Nostradamus!! And Malastare, what you did was a great thing I plan to make my Obi-Wan Jedi Robes and wear them to school on opening day, and I'm DEFINITELY wearing my robe to school, come winter. I've just been getting into the costuming thing and I think what you guys have been doing is really wonderful!

I wore my brown Jedi robe in a talent show at WKU 2 years ago. I was singing The Saga Begins (by Weird Al Yankovic) I had my Qui-Gon sabre hanging on my belt and a Naboo Starfighter tucked in the other side. When I came to the line "Little hotshot flew his plane and saved the daaaaaaaaaay", I pulled it out and 'flew' it up and down in front of me.(everybody loved it!)
Once I wore my brown Jedi robe to a flea market in Missouri.(looking for SW figures) People would look at me and ask 'what are you?' (thankfully no one asked 'what are you supposed to be?') and of course I replied 'A Jedi knight'. 'Oh cool' they'd say.
On March 25th, I wore my green hobbit cloak to school(to celebrate the defeat of Sauron) I got some weird looks, but nothing really bad. Most people would just point at me in the halls and say'oh, cool, he's wearing a robe!'(However, one boy did yell 'Frodo!')
I also wore my brown robe to School last month(for 3-27, of course) Surprisingly, no one said anything really mean(since you know how evil 8th graders can be!) A girl in gym said 'Hey Darth Vader-man!' I'm a lightside Jedi so I nicely said 'sorry, i'm Jedi, not Sith.' so she said instead 'Oh cool, you're like Luke Skywalker!'

Well I wore my costume in public twice this week. One was for midnight madness at Wal-Mart on Monday evening/Tuesday morning. It wasn't much of a big deal since most everyone there was a SW Fan and it was midnight, but every employee in the store came by once or twice to check me out.
Today for my Creativty: A Life in the Arts course I had to give a presentation on my creative process as an artist, so I brought in two of my films and wore my Jedi costume. I broke the end of my sabre when I got in the car, plus I had to deposit some checks so I went to the local Kroger to get super glue and deposit those checks and it was cool. I just acted like nothing was different and went about my things. The bank teller that helped me was excited over my costume and thought it was damn cool.
Then I went to school and as I entered, two girls said "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope!" It was a blast, most people were pretty much "Whoa, it's a Jedi," and a few folks came by and looked at my costume, and one girl said "Yeup, that's him, he was at Wal-Mart at 3 o'clock in the morning."
I also did the first real test of my pouches. Although my new wallet is too big to fit inside the large pouch, I had my pen, my credit cards and license, and my keys in all of them, they worked really well.

I'm going be wearing my Jedi costume to my youth group the Sunday before AOTC comes out. But it's not like just wearing it somewhere with a bunch of friends. I go to a *huge* church and the youth group (it's high schoolers) alone has about 1,500 kids there each week. SO, any tips, Toren? I was either planning on just acting like nothing's different or staying "in character"- acting like I'm actually a Jedi.
Anyways, any advice on which is the best way to go and any extra tips?

I just got my costume yesterday and I wore it to my place of employment. My manager liked it but told me not to wear it when I come I to work. I also wore it today for the Make A Wish kids that my neighbor had at her house. They LOVED it. She asked me to come back for Halloween.
