I have to relate this...

This past weekend, I was helping out the local 501st garrison with the Gateway/Jedi Outcast promo, and was in full Queen Amidala White Parade Gown regalia. Make-up and all. It was great while hanging with everyone in costume. Then five of us decided to hit a nearby restaurant for food and drink afterwards. Well, I was hell and gone from home, with no access to good makeup remover (soap and water works fine for the white, but not the red), so I just stayed in full costume. Two of the other guys stayed in their costumes too (one a sith, the other a Rebel Fleet trooper - the other two had already changed out of their Stormie armor). So, we walked into the restaurant, and the poor hostess could hardly speak when she looked at me (at the moment, I had my sunglasses on WITH the costume). grin She had that look on her face that said she REALLY WANTED to ask, but just couldn't. But then our waitress did. laugh And the hostess came running over to listen while we explained. She loved it.

A little later into the drinks and food, I ended up wearing the Rebel Fleet trooper helmet for a few minutes - yes, with tiara and petal cape. One of the other waitresses across the room busted up laughing.

We got a lot of stares, and a lot of compliments. It was quite fun!

ALl of your stories are so cool.
I got a kick outta' hearing how people reacted to your costumes. I laughed my head off at HOW the people reacted w/ shock, amazement etc, I've seen some of those looks. grin My costume was the Visitor uniform(Red uniform)from "V" toa sci fi convention in St.Louis. Well after the Con closed for the night, most went to the hotel resturant to eat. Some called me on the walkie-talkie(I was working con secrurity that day.) and asked me to join 'em in the resturant. I went but in full uniform w/ side arm. a few con goers were their in costume too. Adults and kids got a kick of out it and asked to checkout my side arm.
Even the waitress liked it. Noone was negetive about the thing at all. I wonder what reaction I'll get from the Jedi garb I'm making?

The last time I wore my Jedi costume was at the Episode II premiere. I was really happy with the reactions. People actually wanted pictures taken with me which made me feel good. All that hard work on the costume was worth it. I always get the "Is that a real lightsaber?" question. I always answer "Of course it's real." (I try my best to play along.) But what I'm really thinking is "Did these people learn anything in school?". The only other times I wear my costume is at cons or on Halloween. I wear my cloak when it gets cold out. I just don't like to attract too much attention most of the time.

Oh wow, I'm no longer alone in wearing robes in public yeah! I went the weekend after AotC came out with two friend's it was sooo much fun. Except the showing we were going to was sold out so we had to hang around the mall for 3 hours in jedi robes waiting, which isn't too bad we had a lot of fun running around. As we entered the theature my brother and his friends exited they ran up to us and said that they could take us because there were 4 of them and only 2 of us, the sith wanted us to lose. Then my friend and I looked at each other and drew our sabers I said 'Yeah but we can use the force' they all laughed and had to leave but that was fun. We went to EB and looked around at all of the Star Wars games they had when lo and behold the wonderful theme song played out. Darth Joe and I ran over and raced against each other in Pod Racer, I won by the way... Since we had three hours to spend we went out of the theature and had a duel of sorts with each other for the people in line. We got quite a few cheers, for both sides. This has got to be the longest fight we had the entire time. There were times when it was two Jedi vs one Sith and two Sith vs me...Whitney never had to fight both of them. It was really fun, espeacily when the little kids started shouting at us. When I was fighting the two of them a few little kids started yelling at the Sith to leave us alone, it was so cute. we went to Suncoast and as soon as we walked into the store the people behind the desk pointed to the front and said 'that's where all our star wars stuff is' that made me crack up, then we spent 10 minuets there talking to them about Star Wars. People stared at us and after a while I got sick of it so I started saying 'may the force be with you' then they would like walk away really fast a few of them said 'and with you' which always made us smile or say right on not very Jedi of us. We all walked through the food court, everyone stoped eating and starred at us as we walked by, I mean people turned to stare at us. We went into a poster shop and walked around a little and these three like 20 year olds looked at us and said 'cool! Jedi...Right on!' we were about to leave the store when one of them shouted out 'hey Jedi! Look what I found' they had found a bin of Star Wars posters. When we came out of the theature this little kid looked at me and shouted 'Mommy look! A JEDI!!!' I smiled so widely then, everyone in the line cheered us as we left. Out side three little kids crowded around us saying 'look, look Jedi cool, can I touch your Lightsaber, use the force use the force' We sat there for a minuet or two talking to them then said we had to get on a transport back to Courasant. I love little kids, we got the best reaction from them!

Wow that was long but it was really fun if your too afraid to do it just get one more person to go with you because it is well worth it. happy that will go with me for the rest of my life.

Wow, I want a robe more than ever now. I had actually planned to wear one once I got mine but this thread has made me want to wear it out in public even more. One thing to you folks that have worn it.

Whats the biggest negative comment you have recieved? I know it probably isnt cool but I want to know whats the worst I can expect, just to be a smart ass like that dude at Barnes n Noble.

Man, now I really want to buy some Stormtrooper armor, if only I had a job. The local Games-Workshop manager has a lightsaber that he picked up in Maryland last Games Day. It's a beauty it even has blades and everything. I'd even be willing to walk into Concord Mills wearing the Stormtrooper armor, now to plan how to get it.......

Mstr-Anikan,

SOunds like a major cool memory. Kids wanted to check out my Laser sidearm too.

Dude that's totaly cool. Kids are a scream huh? :-) Man too bad I wasn't in your area, I'd hitch a ride and jump into the fray in my Jedi garb. Did any kids try to beat up a Sith? I can just see one of them grabinga saber and wacking the Sith upside the ehad with it. POW! hey you have any pics?
I guess I'd not make a good Stoic Jedi b/c I can't hide the smile in the eyes too well. My face'll be serious but the eyes smile.

Heh heh... I did that once, but it was at night. wink
You're a lot braver, though, I kept my hood on unless someone talked to me. Some gonzo came up to me and said something negative... I scared the crap out of him with my face paints... grin

Oh I have pictures! Tons of them actually. The most negative thing that happend was the people that starred and then or just ran to the other side of the mall to get away from us. Most everyone would just talk to us. You would not beleive how many people just walk up to you and start talking about Star Wars, one guy began to quiz my friend and I, my friend couldn't answer any of his question and I think I scared him because I had all the correct answers...ugh....beginning to again feel like a geek. :/ oh well I'm in good company...

oye I forgot it you want to see my pictures go here...

Ok, once more question.

How far do you let small kids go? I mean like, youre a trooper, at what point do you go. "Dude, I need my gun back." or just tell them to stop something like whack ur saber on the ground nicely.

I dont know how I would tell a small child to stop something, I'd be afraid to make him cry and have people see me in a bad light.

well if your a trooper get in to it and say "pput the gun on the grown and put your hands where i can see them"
if you are a jedi say "i feel a besturbence in the force, can i have my lightsaber back i have to go and destroy a sith"
just be nice
