NICE!!!!
I wish I had the same resources as you, JediDragon.
If I did, I'd probably have the ultimate saber, with an EL blade, glowing interior with a window to it, etc.
That's why I'm planning on my next saber to be PVC with an acrylic blade and red plexiglass window on it(red blade, as always).
EDIT: Does anybody have any advice on how to do my PVC saber? Help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Your Lightsaber
It should be hollow enough I plan on converting it to EL later on. But man, you can make a hardware saber hold an EL blade if you mess with it enough. That's what I plan on doing before converting any of the ones I have machined over to EL.
You're PFF, right? You going to the SW camping trip? If so, get together with me there and we'll talk!

Hey Kev_mas,
Are you talking about a window that allows the blade light through like this?

That's an awesome saber you've got there. And, it matches what I was talking about, but only mine will be bigger.
And, JediDragon, yes I am PFF, but unless the plans change, I won't make it to the camping trip. I can't make it that far out.
So, I might come, but only if my parents allow me.

RE: Your Lightsaber
My first lightsaber:
The base is an anodized aluminum pipe. The pommel is made from Sculpey, and the rest from jigsaw'd pieces of a polypropylene pipe (not recommended material!) The control box is indeed a 9V battery. I did not use any power tools, hot knife, putty or epoxy.
The handgrip, pommel and beltclip-button were made from washers and sculpey. The tip of the emitter is the speaker from a broken radio. The rest is made from vacuum cleaner pipe and aluminum stock. The saber is not very large, but quite heavy because of all the steel washers. (the pommel is not as large as Obi-Wan's)
Made mostly from aluminium pipes, by hand. The only power tool I used was a dremel. I made the design on paper first, and then it took almost too much time to realize ... but it payed off! I won [link="http://www.thelightsaber.com/ContestWinners.htm"]The 5th annual custom lightsaber contest[/link] with this one.

RE: Your Lightsaber
does anyone have effective GOOD looking designs for hardware sabers that you can attach an aluminum blade to are are LIGHT ENOUGH to use in staged duels and swing around at high speeds?
Im in the process of making a hardware saber. Originally it had the end cap and everything, more tubing, but it ended up that it would be much too heavy. Now all it will be is one tube (dish drain tube thing), some plastic parts resized to hold the blade (screw in/out parts), and some duct tape for grip, maybe a button or something. What can i do to make it bigger, lighter, and look better?

RE: Your Lightsaber
Xorbo, I just PMed you with some info, but here are a couple other tips.
Instead of duct tape, get the shiney chrome plumbers tape.
And electrical tape can be helpful, cosmetically even if you don't have electronics in it.
As for buttons, check radio shack. if you want something cheaper, look at lamp fittings and knobs. OSH has a good packet for ~$1.50.

RE: Your Lightsaber
i want black grips rather than chrome colored grips. I also may use some electrical tape over the duct tape I use to finish the end of it. I may then paint over it to make it look like a decent cap. The balance is about 1/3 into the blade. It will change once the last couple parts are put in.
