Ive seen a complete costume on EBAY which looks very well done for about 350 with out cloak or belt or boots, is it worth it?
It seems like its one of the harder outfits to make and it seems very accurate to the actual outfit.
So, i ask once more. Is it worth it?
I think there is also an Obi 1 for about 275.

That is exactly what I am looking for, but those prices are pretty steep indeed. It would cost me about $500 or so to make that thing, but I guess it's worth it.
I just wish I knew anything about how to sew!

I think that is over priced. I made my own for only lets see, body was 24, robe was a total of 18, undershirt 5, tabbard free (I used regular black material I had laying around), ummm still need the boots, belt free (had two the right sizes laying around and convered a waist bag thingy's clip for the clip) so that means I only spent 47$ without the boots and you can find some good one's for like 20$ so I would recommend trying to make it yourself and not buy that one.

This is my personal opinion....I woud never spencd that much money on a costume...what i do or my costumes is this...Jedi- Brown/white pants, black/brown boots, black/brown/white belt, and two t-shirts, one t-shirt with the sleeves cut off and worn ontop of the other t-shirt, the t-shirts have to be 2 different colors brown or white or sometimes a navy blue. These costumes ost next to nothing and are not bad at all.

I rip up a bunch of old shirts for the fabric...then sew it into a cloak. thats easy when the cloak is all black (sith) but when you need a brown one, it is hard to get the right shade of brown for each peice of fabric your sewing together, but its done

Well, my plan is to do an Anakin Padawan Costume/Replica Vader Saber deal over a year or two, so I'll just save up until I can get more authentic stuff to do both things right. Those boots are awesome stuff and the belt is waaay expensive, but I figure that I can do that if I just save and buy over time. The whole key is to have paitience.
With saber and all, that's like $700, but it will be worth the cost if it looks good enough to come out of the film. I can definitely set that back if I just save reasonably over 2 years for it.

Here's my 2 cents--I say if you want it, can afford it, and would get lots of use out of it--BUY IT!! I am a professional seamstress and I have worked in costume rental shops, professional theaters and have made custom costumes for individuals. I can tell you there are good costumes and bad costumes out there. I have seen people buy this and that and put together wonderful costumes, and I've seen people spend a lot of dough on nice materials and they look like a 2 year old sewed it. I have seen people spend $300 to rent a costume for 1 night and it only cost $50 to make. If you are getting a garment custom made to your measurements from a reputable costumer who uses high quality materials, and pays attention to detail I'd say it is worth several hundred dollars. A lot of people figure the price of materials and figures the costume is relatively inexpensive. However, you need to consider the time someone put into it--researching it for accuracy, shopping for materials, and sewing it. Sewing is a timely process, especially if you want it professionally sewn and finished. Hours and hours can go into a costume (If figured at a reasonable hourly rate--you can see why a costume can cost so much.) Remember, this is not something you can walk into a store and buy. It is a CUSTOM MADE piece.

It's not just that either though because along with the materials a sewing needs, you have a lot of leatherwork (belt, boots, pouches, and a vest) and a lightsaber to deal with. It's not cheap at all, but it will be fun to do over time. Oh well I can;t wait to see it all start coming together.

what picture(s) did you go off of to make it? could you send link(s) if possible? Also, what were the yard measurements you used on each piece?

The tabbards. One leather, one hidden underneath it of cloth. Discussed in another thread somewhere within the first 4 or so pages.
