Not Another Damn Lightsaber Thread!!!

I have scoured the Costume & Props forum and can't really find an answer to this query.
Has anyone ever had Jeff Parks make a custom saber like OB1's from ep.1/2? I even toyed with the idea of getting the MR Obi Wan and fitting it with a lighttech kit. But, I bet that is probably damn near impossible. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!

Yes... parks will custom make any saber you want. I've seen one of his Ep1 Obi Wans... amazing! Custom sabers start at $300 and go up from there...

Well, I have seen his replica work online before and it is absolutely outstanding stuff. He has definitely got either a talented staff or is very talented himself or both because there is a lot of attention to detail. I think a friend of mine will be employing his services when it comes time to make his own costume saber. May the Force be with him!
Another BIG kudos I have to give is to Larbel. They are currently replicating all the OT flash guns and I recieved an MPP replica tube from them today that is simply outstanding. I trembled holding this beauty in my hands and I can't wait to modify it into you-know-what (HOOOOOPAHHHH!).
Not only that but the shipping is fabulous! I got my order shipped from Hong Kong to my door in two days! I love these guys! I'm so glad that I don't have to maul a precious antique in order to make a glorified toy! What a wonderful day this is!

Here is a pic of his Luke ANH saber. Here is another saber he did for Vader (scroll down the page to see it). Here are some group shots of his OT sabers together.
Hope that helps!

Just wondering, those replicas that Jeff Parks does...I assume that he can also make them with the EL blades? Thats what I really am looking for, an EL OB1 from either TPM or AOTC. Thanks for your help gang!

I think he pretty much *only* does EL sabers now... that was the $300 I was talking about, for an EL equipped Obi Wan Ep1. He charges about $80 for a non EL saber, probably a bit more for an OT replica but I think the EL is worth it.

When my Vader saber is complete, I will consider getting an EL kit, but those kits are still quite steep to purchase. Given that one could just as easily put in an acrylic rod or something, and the fact that EL blades only function for about 30 minutes max on a 9V battery I wonder if it's worth while. I guess it's up to the person and their budget for such things.

EL stands for "electroluminescent"...it's a material that conducts electricity as light. In effect, it looks like dim neon. The lightsabers in question use this material inside of a polycarbonate tube. When the power is off, the tube appears clear. When you power up the saber, the EL material inside the tube glows the appropriate color...pretty cool stuff...

And it doesn't last for about 30 minutes. You're thinking of neon.

Thanks for the correction, but how long do the EL's last Phil? I don't own one but that time estimate I gave was from Parks himself in an interveiw he gave so I just assumed he was accurate. Perhaps they have improved the technology since then, or does is now suck more juice?

When you assume......................
Never trust the official of a company to give 'acurate' data. Always ask fellow SW fans and duelers. According to Kenner, their Star Wars Lightsabers can go through riggerous dueling. Mine shattered just from swinging at empty air. Just an example ;-)

It's more like 20 to 30 hours, and perhaps longer with one of those batteries for high tech stuff.
neon on the other hand sucks the battery dead with no mercy.
