hrm, decisions decisions
I guess it would help to figure out what jewelry I will be wearing for the event. Some nice 1940's inspired stuff.
Hrmm
I am not sure how much you want to spend Sarn, however Kohl's has some great 30s/40s jewelry...

I actually have tons of vintage or vintage inspired pieces, it is just a matter of choosing WHAT to wear
cause I can't wear it all at once

Fat suits and/or men are acceptable! and probably might make it funnier
Did you know I've been wanting to do this costume for 5 years? Haven't really had any idea how to make a fat suit though....

WOO!!!!! We've identified a few costumes that come with fat suits that are under $100 and not too much to pull off to get down to the suit itself. That leaves just adding in the extra mammary glands and the various pieces of the costume itself. 3 bras, loincloth that's like 10 feet long, headdress, fake warts (an in-universe they are indeed fake)... not too much to it. Hardest part will probably be finding the right fabrics and such.

Sounds good, we were thinking of trying to film this at the end of the summer but with everything it's ending up entailing costume-wise (not to mention I'd like to have a full-sized jabba prop for the dancers to sit on and dance around) I'm thinking it's going to push back quite a ways. At least winter if not next summer.

Wow, those kiddie sabers look so cute!
Bill, nice job on the clone!
On my end, I've actually pulled out some costume projects now that I have the space to work on them. Not the time, mind you, but at least I have space to leave stuff laying around...
I'm giving one last attempt on the River dress. Unfortunately the idea of single panel front-single panel back with just extending the skirt width down from the waist didn't turn out to work. Not sure what I did wrong there. So I'm going back to the inset panels at the hip. I think maybe I didn't get the hybrid patterns drafted properly before, and definitely didn't get the fabric layed well for cutting, due to not having good surfaces to lay things out on. I'm starting from scratch and will see if I have any better luck.
My other project is just in the planning stages and may never get farther due to trouble finding fabric. I was hoping to do a Goa'uld costume from the upcoming dvd movie Continuum for Comic-Con. But I haven't had any luck finding material for the skirt, not anything even remotely close. The pictures aren't great, but it looks to me like some sort of tan/brown/brass two-tone with some sort of grain to it. Maybe a crinkled georgette/chiffon? If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! (I've already gone through all 800+ entries in Denver Fabrics' chiffon section.) Warning, though - pictures contain some spoilers for the movie: Goa'uld costume pic 1, Goa'uld costume pic 2, Goa'uld costume pic 3. I think I've found stuff I could use for the bodice, it's just the skirt I'm having no luck on...
And finally... I'm toying with the idea of trying to get a new sert of Jedi robes for the Clone Wars premiere. Haven't even started researching those yet, though.

Coolio.
Alison, that's a cute Goa'uld costume!
So in light of me now not going on a family vacation in the next week I've decided to sew in my time off from work. I've got a dress for a friend to sew, my German renaissance garb, and my peace keeper getup.

Even after purchasing 8 yards of fabric I realized that is only enough for the skirt! So I need to go back and buy 2 1/2 more yards today.
