One of these days I need to make a X-Wing pilot costume. Like you said, we do have an X-Wing.

So I put all this work into a corset... and it doesn't fit right. Grrr... and corded corsets are supposed to be more comfortable!

Anyone know where I can buy bra underwire? I need some for my corset, but can't find it. So far I've checked Hancocks, JoAnns and Beverly Fabrics, all with no luck. Sounds like it's something these places used to carry, but don't anymore.
A national chain store would be the best, so I could find a store out here and pick it up quickly in person this weekend. I need to make major progress on my costume this weekend if there's any hope of having it for SDCC.
(I did try internet searching as well, but I keep finding bras with underwire, not the underwire itself. I suppose I could buy a bra and take it apart to get the underwire... ... but just underwire would be nice. Hm. Or maybe I could buy a bra, take it apart, and use both the underwire and the cups, and not have to buy those separately. Maybe?)

I don't think Mill Outlet is a chain that has a location in your area. They're the only ones I know of that carry it.
Quick solution. Buy a bra from Goodwill. Tear out the underwire and use that.

Good idea. I actually found some at a store yesterday - the local fabric-mart type place. I didn't expect them to have it since I don't think of them as being big on sewing notions, but they were only $0.25 each and I quickly snagged them.
I'm currently trying something else, though. The pattern doesn't call for it, but I'd like to build a bra into the corset. (The pattern is for lingerie, so a sturdy bra wasn't exactly in their plan.) I happen to have an old strapless bra (complete with underwire) that I'm going to try to build into it.
I've come to a new realization today, though. Bra cups are evil, as bad a sleeves. The rest of the corset I'm fine with, but getting these cups right is turning out to be hard. I'm having to make all sorts of blind alterations to get them to fit the bra. Maybe it's because I took a pattern designed for stretch fabric and adapted it larger for non-stretch fabric? But I'm having to pull in seams and add darts to get it to work. It's sort of blind effort because I don't really know what I'm doing - just pulling fabric around till something seems to fit better. And then once I have the mockup worked out... I'll have to take it apart to make a pattern to cut the real fabric.

I'm starting to think that bust cups are more evil than sleeves...

My fingers are sore!!!
But I am done reworking one costume (pretty much took the whole thing apart, reworked it, and put it back together)it fits better now, lol, funny how you can't really tell how much work I did changing it.
Another costume finally has all the detailing I wanted done, but threading ribbon through denim as an accent is difficult.
Also this weekend I made multiple banners and monitor covers.
I decided it was time to organamize all the patterns I have created over the years. Basically I do this out of fabric and re-work those pieces till I get what I want then I cut the good fabric. So I end up with all these different fabric pattern pieces for different costumes all in a pile. I decided to separate each costume pattern and put them in their own bags, of course I made sure they where all properly labeled.
That should make it easier to find what I need for some projects I have coming up.
I got a lot done this weekend looking back on it.

Sounds like you've been busy!
I got my ostrich feathers today! Twenty glorious feathers for my hat. Looking it over now, I think I might have gone a bit over board. But then extras are always handy to have. Now I just need to figure out the best way to sew them on...

staple them to your head. Then you don't have to worry about them coming off.

Well I finished the hat, and I must say, it's magnificent looking. I can't wait to show it off.
