On the sticker vs. giveaway topic...
I think it would make sense to purchase some extra stickers with treasury funds. Not to be used as giveaways, but to be sold as people want extras in the future. We do grow as a group, and in time, some of us might actually want more stickers, and not have to go through the hasle of making an additional run.
Say you get a new car or truck, and need a new RMFF sticker for it? Or you get a new shipping trunk to carry your armor or costumes, and want to decorate it up with an extra RMFF sticker or two. It would be nice to have some extras in hand, and we simply pay the treasurer for it, and bang--you've got a sticker.
As far as giveaways are concerned... I guess I'm not as generous. I wouldn't want to give away a $3-5 sticker, or pay a lot of money into making a batch of temp tats, or anything. I'm ok with donating candy or whatever for something like the WOTR Halloween event or whatever, but I do think that we should keep stuff like that simple, unless an individual wants to fork out the money, of their own free will for something bigger/shinier.
When it comes to group funds, I think they should be used for things like group orders of merchandise. Like if we are doing a group shirt project, and we'll get a decent discount if we order 5 more shirts, or something. Then when someone in the future wants a shirt, they pay the treasurer, and can get one of the extras.
It just seems like every time there is a group order of anything, two days after the order is closed, someone new comes in and says "man, I wish I culd've gotten one of those", and can't get it. I know it's happened to me on 501st merchandise runs, and I can think of at least one person who just missed the last T-shirt run that would've bought an shirt if we had it.
That being said, money can be a very sensitive subject, and if it gets to be too much drama, then we drop the subject, settle down and move on. It's not worth getting upset about or causing issues.

Need I remind y'all that we don't have any prices yet? No one wants to give away $3-5 worth of merch, but the idea is: If they're cheap enough that we can order a ton for next to nothing, why not give some away if people want them? So, before we go deciding that we don't want to give any away when they might end up being available on the cheap, let's just wait and see, eh?
I think Cory will have all the necessary relevant information in time for the BBQ (Gives you some room to breathe there, buddy) because as JT mentioned, we can easily debate something to death here on the boards.
SO, for the next three weeks or so, let's chill out, and let this go until we're actually ready to have a discussion about this, k? We don't have all the information we need, so let's stop working on what-ifs. We're not ready to make a decision on anything here, so let's stop trying to make one right now before we're even ready to. If we go into this having already decided what we want to do and it's based on the opposite information of what it turns out to be, it'll probably never get off the ground and I don't want to see Cory's time and energy wasted.
NOW... can we please get back to the regularly scheduled random insanity at hand, PLEASE?

We ordered some extra shirts from this last run. If you are interested (or know someone who is) in getting one of the extra shirts, contact S__C and see what we have left.

Don’t forget that those “extra” shirts were not funded by the RMFF. But that would have been the perfect scenario for using RMFF funds.
Sorry you were not at the meeting to discuss using the funds for said stickers, but it was brought up & knocked right back down. That is why AR mentioned it in his meeting minutes.
Don’t forget we have several events coming up in the future such as Mile Hi con & if I remember correctly this wiped out the treasury last time we used it for this function. We are talking about those banner stands, those are $100 each, we don’t even have enough to get more then one right now so spending it on stickers……
I know a few people said lets drop it until the BBQ, but I want that to be all fun & games (that is why we set up the August meeting date).
Just some of my thoughts

I have a few more cents I wanna add...
this wasn't even an issue 2 weeks ago and only cuz Bill said he wanted one. (that's not a blame Bill, just a fact)
We have already been thinking about the banners for the museum and I would much rather see those go thru than a sticker anyday cuz presentation is everything and the look and professionalism that the banners brought to the X-Wing display that Kurt made were totally awesome! We need those more than a vinyl sticker(IMO) and since we take care of her and the more that girl looks like the best ship in the museum, the more people are gonna flood to the WOTR and that's charity we all can be really proud of!
jthornto posted: You know, I could count on one finger the number of things the group does that the council approves spending treasury funds on. As a council member, I'd vote that we get them made (pending Cory's final design) and then hand them out for free whenever we have an event.
Is it so bad to not make your money back? Since aside from the X-Wing we're not too involved in the community or charity or anything.
JT, as a council member, I value your opinion, so please don't think I am trying to bloody your nose but if we spent RMFF funds on the banners for the X-wing, we won't be making any money back on that but we will get much out of having a bigger draw to the display. Trust me my friend, they were beautiful and I would love to see them done!
I have a associate that does large format printing and we are also looking into this here at image west, if I can find out who is making the banner stands and they are decently priced, let's do it and put the stickers on the back burner.
I will also be doing another shirt design this year in order to keep our funds coming in and annually for as long as I have the resources to pull them off.
...also, would it be cheaper to create our own stands say, out of PCV pipe? like the RMFF banner. I think this could be within our budget to do. IMO

something occured to me a little while ago as I talked to a good friend and in my previous post I made mention "We have already been thinking about the banners for the museum" but honestly, "We" would not be a correct term as there has never been a thread or a meeting discussion to the full extent about this topic. It has been discussed by those who were there the day the banners were displayed and passed along here and there to a few others but not really made a topic of talk amongst the group. has there been more discussion about this that I am not aware of?
I have talked about it with Zoo several times but that's where it kinda stopped for me.
I'm a little embarassed that I jumped up to advocate so quickly without everyone knowing this was being talked about for the X-Wing.
I really would be willing to see what the cost is through my sources for the print.

I do believe only a few people have been talking about those awesome banners, if anyone paid attention the 501st had them at their table at Starfest.
I also didn't think they were just for the bird? Correct me if I'm wrong. The PVC thing really won't benefit unless they are going to be a more permanent, the best part of those banners is the way they go up fast & break down to fit in that tiny bag.
Then when it comes to the bird we have to get any signage or anything approved by WOTR.
