A boot disk might help to get into it since you're getting ntldr problems, meants it's most likely a boot sector that's gone bad.
I have a few... somewhere... does it have a floppy drive? cause most boot disks work only off of those, sometimes you can get one to go on a cd, but I don't currently have one made up. It may also require making some changes in the BIOS to boot from the floppy/cd before the harddrive.
As far as somewhere to get it fixed... I don't know of many because I tend to do it all myself. Microcenter might be able to help you with it, but I don't know how much they charge and they have a 7 day lead time before they even start working on the system. I have a couple devices meant to get laptop drives working through a USB port, but I have yet to get them to work, though I'm pretty sure the drive is just bad lol.

I got a C in PC Hardware at school 'cause it wasn't applicable knowledge--we learned nothing relevant to modern computer hardware. We learned the history of the hardware and pretty much ended somewhere around the level of technology in 1993.
And when we got around to stripping down a chassis and reassembling it, I could do it so fast that he thought I didn't do it right. 'course, these days the hardware itself doesn't make as much of a difference in performance as it used to until you get to peak performance. Then, and only then, is there a noticeable performance difference. But, as with cars, most people never get there.
Right now I'm up on 'nix--I got Puppy Linux working on my work laptop and I love it. It boots from CD, requires no installation to disk (and therefore no need to coexist with Windows), runs completely from memory, and no configuration to work.

ArchaicRebel posted: Sounds like a possibly bad sector of the hard drive... which means it's dead.
Options for recovering data from that disk are hooking the hard drive up to another computer (that is working, has a HD and OS, etc...). It should detect that hard drive as a secondary (and therefore not need any of the OS files it can't load) and you should be able to pull everything you need off of it.
Is it still under warranty?

After chatting with Gateway online, they said pretty much the same thing...format and start over. I tried getting to a point where I could copy over a new NTLDR file, but still no luck. I was able to make a boot CD and a boot USB (no floppy drive), but both had no luck of even getting me to a DOS prompt, let alone Windows safe mode. This site was invaluable. Even though the fixes didn't work, at least it didn't just suggest reinstalling the OS as the only solution.
The IT dept. at my work rocked the house and was able to pull the data off the drive. Now comes the fun part of formatting, reinstalling the OS and programs...and backing up everything to an external drive! Sheesh. What a pain.

Anybody familiar with Dreamweaver? I bought the entire Adobe Master Suites and I have no clue. I have been watching a tutorial on Dreamweaver and about 3 minutes into it they had used about 10 acronyms that I didn't know.

I tought myself how to use dreamweaver, I thought it was a nice little program.
On another note I have been forced to learn and use C# at work. I must say I like it. It is easier than C++, but I think I still like C++ better.

For you computer hardware junkies, work is allowing me to build my own computer and then giving me an interest free loan (It makes me happy). Is it worth spending the extra money on getting a really nice mother board? I planned on spending about $100 on one, but I'm seeing the prices all the way up to $300 something. I'm getting a quad core processor, so I'm thinking maybe a higher quality one might be worth it. Anyone have an opinion?

If you're going quad, the higher quality boards certainly can't hurt and would probably be a very good idea. Make sure you get a good cpu fan/cooler and preferably artic silver when it comes to the thermal paste. I just got my system upgraded to a quad and i put in a fan/cooler that barely fits in the case, it runs nicely cool (though I haven't done full benchmarking yet) and super fast
My set is the Q6600 processor and XFX s60i... I think.. something like that, with 4 gb of ram. Got the whole set on sale from TigerDirect for I think around $450. You don't have to go full high end, but if you're getting the quad that costs over $1000 I'd definately suggest the higher cost board.

Well I found a board with 1333mhz bus speeds and sli compatible, and it's not too bad. And I'm going to go all out and water cool it!

oooh very nice... I might do that eventually, but for now I didn't want to since I was more trying to get my system running again (the old mobo was starting to struggle as was the power supply) and I've never done the liquid cooling before myself so didn't feel like waiting for the learning curve.

I really need to learn Dreamweaver!
Unfortunately, I didn't learn it over the weekend.
I had to get something up quick for where I work so I made one in MSPublisher. Bet you didn't know you could make one in Publisher...probably because you shouldn't make one in Publisher.
This is the little beauty (sarcasm) that I made on Friday: (you need to use Internet Explorer- Firefox won't load it well)

I am the director of the Family Resource Center (I put a little picture of my office-ain't it cute)
If you click on events and then on Poker Run you can see the amazingly cool logo that Graco did for us.
And if you click on wish list you can see the adorable little boy and his mom who have been with us for a month now while she waits for surgery. He is the cutest little bugger.
