Not like its all that complicated or anything...maybe thats the problem. I want to be recognizable. *shrug*

Hey, that was me as "Black Canary"  "Who are you?" "Just a hot chick, deal!" 
Try ebay! enter the title & # of the comic you are looking for and I bet you can find one, go to that person's store, or send them a message to see if they have any other copies (sometime these people have comic stores too). If that doesn't work then go to your comic store, if that doesn't work we can go to my comic store.
Does that help? Because I too want to get a few comics to have & hold while I make my costume.

yojoe.com would be a good place to look. They have photos of every figure and alot of times the packaging art as well.
Alternatively, I can take photos of any figure in my collection and send them along. I have nearly every figure from the vintage line and much of the card art.

Just an FYI if you're thinking of Mile Hi Comics up in Thornton... they had a water main break into the store and it flooded it 18" deep. They've found a new location a few blocks away and are working on reopening it, and having a pretty hearty online sale to try to get some revenue in to help with the unexpected expenditures.
edit: I can't remember the codeword to get the additional 25% discount.. FLOOD____ something... I'll check the email when I get home and post it.

Well, not to be a downer, but most of the people on this list are going to end up in some form of military clothing. I think I saw maybe 5...possibly 6...costumes that will be easily recognizable and not confused with the Stargate group. The others will look like bikers. LOL.

yes it is military, however, with the cobra dudes and snake eyes, i think people will get the picture. 
and knowing is half the battle!

WOW, that is too bad, and I will be sure to see if I can get a deal, but this is not my comic shop. They are over priced & no customer service, I don't go there much.

One thing I thought of to "combat" this is nametags. I saw these listed for various prices on several sites...I just don't know enough about the military or GIJOE to know which ones we would need. Many of the fanart sketches I have seen of JOE characters are wearing them.

I was going to get name ribbon and make stencils with the names on them... The ribbon can easily be sewn, or stitch-witched onto the costumes
