Its great to see so many people exercising and actually examining what is going into their food supply.
Of all of the "fast" food establishments, I'd have to rate Chipotle and perhaps Noodles & Company as really the only two options I would ever even remotely consider. Chipotle does offer the Burrito Bol's, which I think Leah mentioned. Eliminating and/or going easy on the rice, beans and cheese can certainly have a positive impact.
Nnay, I believe that only a few of their ingredients are actually organic (a percentage of the beans maybe?), so I wouldn't qualify the chain as a whole as "organic". Certainly a better option BY FAR though than the burger/pizzza/chicken/taco joints.
Another quasi-fast food chain I'd recommend is Mad Greens. I don't really consider them 100% fast food, as it doesn't serve my criteria of being car-edible. If I can't eat it while I'm driving (now there's a sad statement on our society) then I don't really consider it true "fast" food. There aren't very many around, but if you have one nearby, I'd recommend it.
Becca, rice cheese is definitely a more healthful alternative to the dairy variety. Soy cheese is another alternative, although I honestly don't recommend it.
There are pros and cons to treadmills, as with any piece of exercise equipment. They can definitely be a little unsettling to the ole equilibrium after their use, but that stands to reason as your visual/aural senses are essentially being tricked into believing you are covering distance when in fact you are stationary.
Serious running really does require serious running shoes, although I've seen consumer reports in the past stating that the $70 pairs are equal if not sometimes better than their $125 counterparts in terms of quality and longevity. So, I don't think it's really necessary to drop a serious wad of cash on them. I've heard good things about Runner's Roost. Running has the potential for placing significant strain on the joints, which if someone is already overweight, can lead to compounding issues. Treadmills on the other hand may actually alleviate some of this joint strain as the flexibility of the tread serves as a shock absorber. I'd much rather run in the outdoors myself, however my knees typically pay the price for it. When I run indoors, it doesn't seem to be as much of an issue for me.
Does anyone here bike? Road bike? Mountain bike?

This is why I hate running. I get shin splints something fierce as it is. I prefer the elliptical, myself. I'd like to get back into biking, but lack a decent bike. I bought a cheapo mountain bike from target a couple years ago, and it wasn't worth it. It sucked on flat ground, let alone on a hill, and I live on a big hill.
The only running I like to do is playing paintball, and since I want to play more PB this summer, I need to get back into shape for that. I will do some sprints (on grass), but only after I've built up my stamina and endurance a bit.
BTW, there is a 24 hour scenario game in a month. Anyone want to go?

I think someone mentioned something about chocolate? If so, can't find the post.
I recommend Dagoba chocolate bars. They're mostly organic and pretty tasty too. I like the roseberry ones.

I rollerblade most of the time instead of running. I don't like biking because it strains my quads overly much, and it always feels like I'm going to tear them off if I do any sort of strenuous biking, no matter how much I stretch.
The other thing about running indoors vs. outdoors is the concrete outdoors. My soccer coach in high school told us to avoid running on concrete if at all possible because it's too hard. A few of us were having problems with shin splints, and as soon as we just started running on asphalt or grass (grass is really nice and soft), the problems quit.
Now if I run outside, I pick horse trails or open spaces around my house to avoid tearing up my joints as much as possible.

I agree, concrete is the bane of runners and walkers alike. I try to walk my dogs on the asphalt whenever possible, but unfortunately most trails (at least down here) are of the sidewalk variety.
For those interested in a rough idea of how many calories are expended during various forms of exercise, THIS site has some decent info.

Ok, so I just tracked yesterday’s food intake on my-calorie-counter.com, WOW. I'm over in protein & sugars all the time. So if I'm under in calories & workout the same day, does that count as good or do I need to be under all my daily intakes to make exercise effective?
Traking today as well. I'm liking it. A big eye opener.

Nope... He is, essentially, a professional in that arena at this point.
It would be like talking about drywall and not expecting DH to be the authority. Or video production, and not getting the inside scoop from Obi_W & Grimby. Or rocket science and not hearing Taerial & JP talking away as the rest of us sit back with our eyes glazed over.

Yeah, I'm with you there, DT.
It's only lunch and I already walked 3.4 miles today. Should be 6.8 by the time I'm done with work, then another 1-2 after work when I'm out taking pics.

If that's the case, he also takes abuse very well. Just give him a smack.
Seriously though, I guess some of us are just used to SS's style of posting, and we simply know that it isn't meant in a condescending way at all. It's just how he communicates.
