I'll probably be in that 5 million... Wait... that makes it sound like only 8.2 million filed with DD...  Are people really that slow to adopt the faster method, or did that many of us really pay out?

That many paid out, and there are a LOT of people who got refunds that do not have a stable bank account to DD into.
Edit: Seems I'm only due $300, but that's OK considering I got just over $1000 in refund this year.

It also said they expect 1/3 to be DD and 2/3 to be paper checks. I don't remember any other numbers, but it doesn't seem to add up to me either... ~shrugs~

yeah, but if you make over/under a certain amount then you don't get any
so factor that in and more of the numbers start making sense, especially when you hear reports that say the middle class is shrinking while the lower and upper classes in are growing

Single folks who make more than $87k don't get any money. There are people I work with in that situation. people between $75k and $87k get a diminishing amount as they go up. Not sure how it works on the other end.

WHOA!!  Both tax returns (fed and state) plus payday, plus child support... Dude!! But no tax stimulus yet (only expecting $300), and my SSN is in the first round.
EDIT: heeeee... just knocked my credit card down by half.  I love doing that.
