It's amazing how upset they can get over something so little. Has anyone taught you the froggie fart?

The little oinker was weighed on Monday and he is now a healthy 7 lbs. and 11 ounces. His nickname was (and still is) bugaboo (bug for short) and now we have added "Munch" to the names we call him besides the one on his birth certificate.

Yay for him! Now if we can just get him to munch down at longer intervals, that would be great. Mmm k'?

Eric went home yesterday. And in the daylight it all makes sense. But at night it hurts, and the thoughts smother my brain. I'm panting, alert, and coiled like I'm ready to fight. Then I remember there is no enemy and there is no battle. There's nothing to do but wait for the sun.

I'm sorry, I bet the nights are hard. You get so used to wake up at a pin drop, waiting for the next feeding or diaper change. You can always call to chat, I'm probably up. wink

Take pride and joy Linda at the home that you created for his safety and care and don't forget, Eric is just the first of many beginnings you will witness.

You and JT are angels on earth as far as I am concerned to be so willing to help those in need! applause hugs

I will be praying for you both..

Thanks for the support the last couple of days. My guess was last night was the worst of it, somewhere after numb/distraction and before healing. And it does make it easier with your encouraging words and hugs. I also find Apple Sour Punch Straws to be uplifting, in case anyone is wondering.

Thanks so much to everybody for their support and kind words this past weekend. It was especially tough for me as I was out of town on Friday afternoon when Linda got the call to come in and drop him off. She made it through thanks to the help of our caseworker and Shane, Courtney and Kim's kind words and help Friday afternoon.

It was fantastic to be able to take care of Eric during his critical period. Hopefully we wired him right to know that people are good, crying will get your diaper changed/get fed/be held/etc. He was a joy and we'll miss him.

Even though he's in his permanent home, he will still be watched over by Adams County for a while longer to make sure he is raised well, so he will still be in good hands. That helps us out on those long, sad nights, I think.

I would like to thank my lovely, dedicated, and caring wife who is the best foster mom ever. She is the greatest and always brought a smile to his face (when he started smiling! grin ) and to mine. Fanforced rocks!

So we're going to take 3-4 weeks off to catch up on sleep (in time to have another little rugrat mess it up!), do some projects around the house, and have some time with the two of us. Maybe even take in a regular non-drive-in movie or two!

We've gotten a lot of productive work done around the house and had some fun going to movies, camping, going to Elitch's, etc. Things done easier with two adults.

As of Monday, we're open to being foster parents again. We haven't heard from Adams County yet, but we're back on the list.

Now that Eric has moved on to his permanent placement and we have taken our four week break (catch up on sleep, do some projects around the house, sleep, go camping, watch movies without standing in the hallway, and sleeeeep), we got back on Adams County's list to be available for another lil' one in our house.

And that was 4 weeks ago! It's a good thing and a bad thing. Good because there are not that many babies in the social services system. But bad because we have no baby.

All that changed yesterday. Linda received the phone call and after some thought, we now have another newborn in our house. He's 3 days old (what's with us an newborns?!?) and his name is Melvin. However, we've already given him the nickname Kitt. Much cooler, dontcha' think?

He arrived yesterday afternoon and Linda/FanForced is taking him to Children's Hospital today to get an exam and see how he's doing. He is a bit of a loud and restless sleeper. He's quite the munch, though. He wolfed down 2 oz. of formula about every 3 hours. He's a bit pruny, but very cute.

Will post pictures when we take some.

Alas, since his immune system is still non-existent/forming, we probably won't make the meeting on Sunday and Mile Hi con is iffy. It's worth it, though.
