The Samus armor we did for the ewok was out of the craft foam. If you don't have a kid's sized bucket yet, I'd suggest getting one of the dress up helmets from toys r us and using that as a base. That's what Zoom did for hers. You have to hot glue the foam together, but don't use the super high temp hot glue,or it will melt. I just used the cheap walmart one that's like $5 to make her zelda pieces, and you can also use heavy duty thread to attach pieces too, but it will make a dimple in the foam. Try to get as close to whatever color you are going for in the foam, it takes about 2 or 3 coats of craft paint to cover the foam since it sucks up the paint like a sponge.
I think for her legs, he made suspenders and he attached a lot of the upper pieces with the black elastic and she wore a black turtle neck and stretchy pants under it. Get some craft paper or paper bags to make your templates with and pin them to the kid (clothes not skin  ) so you make sure the size is right. Then you can just trace them on the foam and cut until your fingers cramp up. I have some nice sturdy craft scissors for my rubber stamping that worked really well. Or you can use an exacto and a self healing mat. Or the floor if you want to drive your wife crazy.

Hey Cory...you want to UPDATE the volunteer list?
I am so happy i can come to this now...ya know it's been two years since i wore the ANH Leia costume...it was for the DVD release that one Halloween.
I need to find some boots for it.

About taking pictures, that's fine if we take them of ourselves or as a group, but I don't want pictures taken of kids & then posted on the website. You know because there are creeps out there.
So the parents of the kids can take our pictures, but I don't want 3000 pictures of us with kids.
edit: nnay, I like those boots for that price. I hope they are comfortable.

I will be in armor the whole time. I have a basic Clone Wars black and white grunt. Patrick (Clone666) is moving here from Texas, and has the best Commander Rex in the 501st Garrison. He is also the Clonetroopers Detachment PR Officer, and was on the New Orleans troop with me. So that's 2 confirmed finished clones that we'll have. I think Brent will also be there in his toon armor, and a couple of others are working on their kits, but I haven't seen any progress, so I can't vouch for their accuracy or quality or if they'll be done.
If people want to take pics, that's fine, but I made this armor for troops like that day, and I'll be in armor from start to finish.  I don't expect to take a pic the whole day, but I'll try to see if I gan get a photog friend to cover the event for us...

My GM is absolutely camera-happy, especially when it comes to this stuff, so there will be tons and tons of pictures, and I'm sure I'll be able to secure a CD of them afterward for posting on the website. He might even go for the video camera too.
(still waiting on him to OK the press release... sometimes it takes a lot of pestering)
So excited... sorry I haven't been on the boards for a while. I've been working.
