	What: National Free Comic Book Day When: Sat, May 6, 2006 all day really 10am-9pm (focus between 11am-5pm) Where: Wonderworld Comics 22391 Ecorse Road, Taylor, MI 48180 Who: Godfrey interested: Barry Phil The owner of Wonderworld Comics is wanting us to help out with Free Comic Book Day on May 6th. I know the Cosco event is the same day and many of us have committed to that. From Dennis, the owner: This is first of all the national Free Comic Book Day, which we are coordinating with our efforts to raise money for ACTOR (a comic book creator charity fund) and the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (a non-profit legal aide company for members of the comic book community). Last year we had 1 stormtrooper at our event and it was crazy, with many more I think can reach even higher levels. If there is a charity that you would like us to include in the event, please let us know. I talked to him tonight and he mentioned that he'll give us some comics to use at future events as give-aways. If there is anyone closer to Taylor than Shelby Twp, would you mind helping out here? He's extremely excited about this! (imagine Godfrey excited) This has big potential to be a regular event or location for charity events! -----signature----- Is there a practical use for a whip? 	I may be able to get out to this. my son has a soccer game and I am not sure what the girl friend has going on. 	Looks like I can make it I just hope Godfrey can give me some pointers on what the heck to do and how to act as vader. or else I am going to be standing there not knowing what the heck is going on. Oh well should be good practice for the Novi con and the FYE event in June. Oh ya I have a few updated pics with the new dome on. 	I like the first picture. You look ready to deploy the troops to kill some Rebels. I talked to the owner of Wonderworld and he is extremely excited about having Darth Vader there! Some pointers for costuming: Act like the character as much as possible. Try to use his quotes when you can. With kids, try to shake their hand. Offering out your hand usually makes them less afraid. Having a helmet on, it's best to have a spotter there- whether it's another costumer, store employee, or your girlfriend. Sometimes you can't see the little kids in your field of vision. Having a spotter helps to let you know about them. Most kids will be in awe. Thank them for coming out and ask them questions- like do they read comics? Who's their favorite villain/hero? 	Other things to do: If you can, have someone there as a spotter to make sure you can get around, help with any costume malfunctions, and take photos. Small kids like to hug, and you may not be able to see them. When you need to take a break, take your helmet off in a back room, or other place out of sight. Do take breaks, it's easy to get into the event and forget! Bring some bottled water in a cooler for breaks and after the event. 	Thanks. And Thanks for the pointers. I will try and get as many pics as we can and post them up, or if you want I could Burn a CD and give it to your 501st fan table at the Novi Con. I just have to fix up the small things with the costume.
