I can write, but I don't know what you have in mind. Are you thinking of a fanfilm or something original?

hey this is great...two interested parties! i wasnt thinking anything specific at this point...fanfilm, original...either way. at this pont i think we need a minimum of six people to get things moving. then we can start throwing ideas around and work from there.
what sort of writing have you done?

Nothing professional, but it's a hobby of mine and I do run a lot of RPG's and have recently taken up proposal writing for a charity where I live.
I've been told I'm good.
If you want to see a sample I can send you a script for a fanfilm I wrote a few years ago.

If you're interested in film as a hobby and would like to eventually pursue it as a career, in whatever speciality that may be, Facebook networks are a great way to meet people in the Edmonton film community. There is a core network of folks in town who are primarily involved in anything that is ever shot or produced here. Many of the veteran pros have worked on almost every major studio film that has brought a project here to shoot scenes.
We all pretty much help each other out on our private projects in whatever capacity we can whenever we have the available time. This is probably going to be your best shot at getting a crew together that has the experience and the knowledge to offer you sound advice on how to plan and carry out such a task. They are also terrific contacts to have when you need to put something together for low - no budget. I'm convinced Secrets of the Rebellion wouldn't have half the visual range it does now without guys like David Puff and Brett Manyluk.
Search "Edmonton Film" on Facebook and you'll see what I mean. There's probably more acting talent in there tha production people but there ought to be more than enough to get started on a basic no budget short if that's what you're thinking of doing.

heya AOE thanks for the info. im connected in those circles a bit and doing what i can to further then. i was just hoping to get a sci fi project together. ive noticed most 'regular' filmmakers arent that juiced about doing scifi so i went to the source! plus i thought i would connect with like minded folks to see where things might go. id rather not try and do a one man show.

I'll be the first one to say doing sci-fi is a huge pain in the ass for your first project. It can be viable because it's simple to do with limited locations and a lot of people will jump on the band wagon for no pay but the sheer amount of effects work is pretty daunting and can hold the production up from finishing for a long time. There's a huge difference between running around with a camera and some friends shooting things for kicks and organizing a full blown film production with full staff, logistics management and a production schedule. At some point it changes over from one person organizing the whole show to requiring teams of people to put it together. How involved it gets will depend on what type of scale you want it to reach.
