A note from Sturm Antilles, changeling bartender and club owner :
"'Till we all meet again in the summer of 2005 . . . "
These words were written by me as the final message of the original Outlander Club almost three years ago.
Now...We have returned.
This social movement began with this thread, began by xie, in the Literature forum, which started with a racy comment in the New Jedi Order novel Rebel Stand, written by Aaron Allston.
I closed the thread and basically relocated it to the EUC, where it was renamed "Sturm's Outlander Club". The first version of this social thread was a massive success, drawing almost 10,000 posts in only one month's time...unheard of for EU social threads. But, alas, the thread cap came upon it, and a new version was needed. The Outlander Club went through four revisions in 2002, each one a success.
Outlander Club 1.0 - June 2002
Outlander Club 2.0 - July 2002
Outlander Club 3.0 - August to October 2002 ( Note : This version of the OC includes a "Dramatis Personae" listing of the various notable clientele.)
Outlander Club 4.0 - November to December 2002 ( Note : The last page of this thread has the goodbye messages from various OC regulars, as well as a final message from myself, for 2002. )
This luxurious nightclub is filled with many forms of entertainment...Dancing, music and comedy performances, sports broadcasts from the HoloNet ( including nuna-ball and Podracing ), holographic games of skill and chance, and thousands of varieties of drinks from all corners of the Known Galaxy, for every species of clientele.
2002 was a great year for Star Wars fans, and I personally made many good friends. But alas, the original Outlander Club was closed on December 31st, 2002. I took a long leave of the Jedi Council by next summer, and I didn't want this place to slowly fade away. It was special, its regulars were special, and it deserved to be a shining time capsule of us, as Star Wars fans, in 2002.
Now we look to the present, here in 2005, and in the wake of Star Wars - Episode III Revenge of the Sith.

Sturm comes across the old building, wiping away muck and dust from the doorway as he inserts his key-card and unlocks it. Walking through the dark confines of the lounge, nostalgic memories drift through his mind, and he goes about activating the various systems and cleaning droids.
Flipping the "We're Open" switch on, he sits back and waits, wondering what new action and adventure awaits him and his friends...

Sweet. I've heard so much about this place, it was getting a little out of hand. Now at least we'll have room for all that wayward reminescing.

Yeah, several times. It's weird.
No matter how much I had long, quality posts about the novels and comics in Literature, and all of my theories, ideas and continuity-fixes, I'm much more well-known for creating a simple social thread in EUC. It boggles the mind.

Heh. The thing is that there are only a 'relatively' few people who enjoy reading the longer, more in-depth posts v.s. hordes of people who enjoy a nice evening of light conversation.
