Now let's be careful here and make sure it doesn't come out as author bashing. Feel free to criticize what was/wasn't in the book, but we don't want something that resembles a flame.

Such as...
JediHobbit posted: The Mandalorian parts, while interesting, had nothing to do with the overall plot of the series. I don't really buy that Jaina needs to train with Boba Fett to be able to take down Caedus. She should have just had her own LotF-era Mandalorian book and left it at that.
that.
The whole Mandalorian thing had nothing to do with anything and was completely forced into the series. It seems like the inclusion was weakly justified. Completely unnecessary.
Jello, you know me better than that. When have I ever flamed?

Yeah.
So, do the Mandalorians play a significant part at all?

Dunno. Only just finished Tempest. What I've read so far, they're irrelevant.
I guess I should also note that the high level of Mandalorian obsession amongst my friends has made me a bit anti-Mandalorian. There's more than one warrior race in the gffa. Why the complete and total focus on Mandalorians?

their inclusion in Bloodlines, IIRC, was okay, but after that it became less and less plausible. Revelation was more or less Jaina going "Gosh they approach everything with such a different mindset. And it's so much better than anything I ever imagined. Boba's kind of a jerk, but he's the exception, not the rule. Oh and he's got his own reasons for being messed up."

But Jaina doesn't decide what to do until she meets a Mando Jedi, who convinces her to try and kill Caedus out of love, invalidating most of the philosophy of the Mandalorians Fett was trying to impress on her.
Traviss overdid the Mando-love in Revelation, but it remains a solid book.

Frankly, where the wheels went out from under me as far as keeping up with the EU was the Dark Nest trilogy. Something about going into mind-controlling bugs as a plot point soured me. I'll agree with Val that Allston's work on LoTF was good, but the rest ... glarrgh. The start was interesting - Lumiya corrupting Jacen, him getting onto the slippery slope of the dark side and trying to convince himself he was doing it for the right reasons, that worked. Where things went horribly wrong was when Lumiya lost her head (literally) and Jacen went more bat-guano than Anakin on his whiniest day. And nobody stops the guy. I gave up after Exile.
Just as a sentimental point, it's not the curtain call the Big Three deserve. I would have been much more comfortable if they'd given Luke, Han, and Leia a rest after the NJO and picked things up decades later, when they're either dead or consigned to the sidelines. In short, could we have just jumped back in 90 years later with Legacy and left the twilight years of our heroes to speculation?
Oh well. If nothing else, the current direction of the material has provided a good setting (on the rare occasions I can sit down and think about it) for doing some concept work on fanfics. I have to credit this place for making me come up with Darth Cain - in the six years since I started using him as an RP sock in here he's gone from being an out-Vadering of Vader to, oddly enough, something of a GFFA version of Batman.

You aren't missing anything. At all. I read through all of them and barely remember one. I guess I just flushed it afterwards because my brain doesn't like to keep "stupid" stored.
