Behold your challenger, oldbie tyrant! It is I, the Admiral, who arises from the East on a chariot on rolling flames! Pendents of smoke unfurl behind me, and brimstone vents between my bloodstained teeth. Clouds sizzle and boil at my approach, and the earth heaves as though in childbirth.
I will scalp you with a RotoTiller -- which will constitute a significant improvement over your current haircut!
I will then jam your head so far down your esophagus that you will be able to perform an exploratory colonoscopy on yourself with your tongue!
I will ban you from the intarnets!
I AM THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA. I AM INTERNET TOUGH GUY. FEAR ME.

Pshaw. Revive this place from zombie-dom and you'll get respect.
I'm almost tempted to perform another one of my famed "explosive decommissionings" to put this poor dying thread out of its agonized misery.

I just don't have the enthusiasm in me any more for it. Nowadays, I come to the boards mainly for serious discussion. The days of hanging out in a couple of social threads and cursing oppm for an evening just don't appeal to me any more. Life's too important to spend refreshing forum pages every thirty seconds.

I just ran out of time. Had more important things to do than post and swarm the refresh button, like sleeping and working.

So yeah, the last LOTF book didn't completely suck. Good to see Denning can write whenever he actually wants to.

I'm only about 80 pages in, but so far I agree. I could have done with the handful of Han/Leia bedroom references I've read already. One was enough. I get it. They still like each other in that way. Plus, Han is into bondage? wtk?

I can't stand Star Wars books anymore. The fact that they'll sell just because of the Star Wars name and not because of writing quality pisses me off. But that's a personal thing since I've been trying very hard for the past several years to get published when unimaginative pieces of crap still make it out there into the market and actually generate revenue.
I tried the Legacy of the Force series last year, I think. Until then, I hadn't picked up a single SW novel since the last NJO book. I was so sick of Star Wars that I couldn't be bothered with it.
But Betrayal turned out to be pretty decent. So I ended up reading a few until I realized that only Allston was worth reading. Everyone else was bland or repetitive. I remember the second novel written by that English woman included a whole subplot about Boba Fett that had NOTHING at all to do with the main story. And yet, the Boba Fett subplot was like ten times more interesting than the actual overall story.
I dropped LotF then and there, but a friend insisted that I pick up Inferno. I did and it was decent...until the writers again contrived to have Luke made of suck at the end just to save Jacen and their future paychecks.
Seriously, this story was so stupid that the only way the writers managed to pull it off was by reducing the intelligence of every single character involved. Mara dying? Yeah, okay. She figured out Jacen was the bad guy. But let's not tell Luke. Hey, let's not tell the Council what I'm thinking. Luke, too. He doesn't share anything with the Council. God forbid we share information like we're an actual Council.
That novel in which Mara died was so hideously stupid. No one was telling each other anything even though they were all on the same side. And the writers tried to pass it off as Mara not wanting Luke to worry or crap like that.
I like how in order for these new Star Wars novels to get through and make sense, everyone (including the reader) has to be dumbed down.
**** that noise.

I think I could quote that to summarize my feelings on the matter. Though I am reading just to keep up to date with what's going on in the GFFA.
I'm far behind though. It's slow going because it's so painful. I think as soon as I finish LotF, I'm giving up.

I like Traviss's Republic Commando novels pretty well, since they're sort of like the X-Wing books of the PT, but I feel like somebody may have been better for the LotF. The Mandalorian parts, while interesting, had nothing to do with the overall plot of the series. I don't really buy that Jaina needs to train with Boba Fett to be able to take down Caedus. She should have just had her own LotF-era Mandalorian book and left it at that.
Also, I agree that Sacrifice wasn't all that great just based on character motivations. There is no reason for Mara to not tell everybody she knows when she finds out about Jacen and Lumiya. It's just silly.
