IIRC, it's five years post TUF.

Whether Ben will actually be the proper age will be interesting to see. tongue

In a surprising new plot twist what Mara lacks in aging transfers to Ben through the "Alter Age" force technique. Ben is now one hundred and thirty-four years old.

In response to I_F's earlier comment about snow... we usually have snow here once every year or two... its great, because everything, and I mean everything, shuts down. Including school grin

Bah. Things here are more likely to be stopped by a heat wave. Especially when schools don't have decent air conditioners. Try 90-100 Fahrenheit on a daily basis in summer... tongue

IF: Trust me, snow ISN'T that exciting. I've had to shovel the stuff all my life and it's really quite troublesome, not to mention the cold is annoying.

But I don't have to shovel it. I just get to ski on it. I'd probably have a different opinion if I had to live with it. Like most things, I guess. grin tongue

No different from here, in that respect. Although since schools are out in the summer, it doesnt affect them. Besides, I doubt they'd do anything.

Is there anyone else around who hasn't seen snow (like me)?

I've seen snow, but it's been several years. Yay for desert-dwellers. frustrated

I'm really excited to see Ben a few years older. We'll probably get to learn what his "thing" is (or lack thereof?). Jaina had ships, Jacen had animals, Anakin had mechanics... I've done lots of Ben speculation, though, in the now defunct Ben Skywalker Appreciation Party.

We'll probably get the token "Winter's watching the kid" line, and that's all we'll see of Ben. tongue

I don't think Mara will let him out of her sight if she doesn't have to. Plus, Winter's in geriatrics these days. tongue

Yeah, I can picture Mara being a lot more overprotective and possessive of Ben then Leia was with her kids. Especially because of the circumstances under which Ben was born and how long she had to go without seeing him.

I could totally see Mara being one of those stage moms at times. She seems like she could be just a tad psychotically (hope I spelled that right) and I could totally see this as being the next reality TV show on the galactic version of Bravo:

"Next up on Galaxy TV (though it would be holos): JEDI CHILD MOMS AND DADS!!! come see Master Skywalker's kids as they go through the first tentative steps into the mastery of the Force! Will they succeed like their parents or chop the table in half with their lightsabers??? See all the laughs, tears, pain, in joy on this episode of JEDI CHILD MOMS AND DADS"

As for the whole snow discussion... I live New England which means I get four hundred feet of it every winter (skiing is great up here by the way) and nine thousand degrees of heat in the summer. Right now its near ninety degrees and 90% humidity. God it almost makes me want the subzero temperatures and the horrible roads just so I can get skiing again!

That makes sense from a character standpoint, but from a writer's view, it's very difficult to write a five-year old into an action story. tongue Unless, as someone suggested, Ben has magically aged.

Ben wasn't born... he was spawned by the force, as all Skywalkers are tongue . Mara is definetly the classic drill sergeant mom. Leia was the type of mom you see on the TV show Supernanny... "meh I will let someone else do it".
