I dont know if mastery points would be good in this type of dueling. Maybe in an official RPG, but not here in the EUC. I think it would be too complicated. it would be easier to get together if it was just High Master, Master, Knight, Padawan. If a padawan uses shield against a high masters force lightning, then it would probably not be that effective of a shield against that onslaught and so on.
And I agree with Sinre that there should also be a High Master/Grandmaster type rank. And I also agree on the access to all alignment powers plus points to put towards other powers.
And just throwing it out here, since the Grandmasters are supposed to be the most experienced/skilled of the groups, then perhaps for them, we make it so they can access one power from the opposing sides force list? They should in character have quite a bit of life experience and might know about some of the other sides powers. Just throwing it out there as a possibility.
And not to sound gready, but what about the Sith if we do a Grandmaster list. Whe have five council members, so do each qualify? *hopes so*

I would think that the Grandmaster would be only reserved for the Highest rank of each order - as far as I'm concerned, that's 3 for the Sith (Triumvirate, at least last time I checked), 2 for the Templars (Kage Umbris and Luminis), 1 for the Jedi, Imperial Knights and all the rest as well.
And, I disagree on the Mastery Points, if anything, it adds more variety, and that's the point of having higher ranks, and this tournament as well. Obviously a Padawan isn't going to beat a Sith Lord.

So long as your council members are the ultimate authorities in your order, not being a Sith myself I don't know, then yes, I don't see why not.

Former Grandmasters qualify too...
Though only for Grandmaster-specific Tournaments.

Powers seem balanced, and I'm not opposed to the points system elaborated upon thus far.
I may have missed this b/c I skimmed, but there should be some sort of elaboration as to how many points you need to spend to bring a 1/2 mastered power to a fully mastered one. Is it just 1 pt? Or maybe 2?
A trio of judges seems fine, but you should make certain that they are active. Less judges = more dependent you are for each and every one of their judgments.

What I suggested, with the mastery points, is that Grandmasters get special points different from normal points - 1 of them can be used to either automatically master any 1/2 mastered power, or give them 2 normal points to use normally on any force power.

Points system seem to complicate things unnecessarily, to me. Would mastered powers blast past unmastered powers? Would an unmastered shield automatically be useless against a mastered offensive power? How exactly would we decide how much more or less effective a mastered power would be than a nonmastered power, and judge whether it was realistic or not?
Basically, is the variety going to make it more interesting for the spectators watching it, or just cause logistical confusion for the judges and competitors both?

I would appreciate it if the senators distributed word of this moderator review process to their threads so that we can get a good amount of participants. It'd be nice if we could impress the admins with a large cross-section of the forum getting involved and the like, and that's what's the Senate's for, right? So let's show them how we do things.
Thanks!
