I just realized something, it's just a theory at the moment but I'm working on building it...
The Prophecy of the Tassels (as I call it) doesn't have to do with Jacen, it's Ben!
He will win and break his chains- Ben's going to break away from Jacen in his rage after the murder of his mother. Jacen's control over him is his chains.
He will immortalize his love- His mother will never grow older in his mind's eye and he will use her face as fuel for his rage.
He will strengthen himself through pain- He will keep remembering his mother in order to cause himself pain and anger to make him stronger. For anger is of the Dark Side and the Dark Side will make you stronger in the moments that you need it.
More to come as I find the rest...

I wonder if the tassels are for Ben. I do think the story is Ben's. I'd like to see what you think of the other lines.

Yeah, I agree that the tassles are about Ben, given the revelation at the end of Sacrifice. Now the only question is if they are talking about Ben's fall to the dark side, or his hero's journey...

We can let it stand here. It's nothing too extensive and just some pondering. The Lit mods would probably close it and redirect it somewhere.
If T_S wants to do some more pondering and add some more evidence, it could make a good discussion. Who ever said Lit had to have a monopoly on good discussion? We can do it too.

Maybe not even that anymore - especially with Ben going through the emotional and psychological pain of his Mother's death, as well as the physical pain Jacen put him through.

wow a really interesting theory that actually works, I have not read sacrfice yet but so far I can see where you are coming from, and it would seem right that this whole series is about Ben's coming of age really - how the situations that occured during his lifetime will ultimately shape his possible future.

Um lets see
He will remake/rename himself—both Jacen and Ben have done this in a way or at lest could.
He will ruin those who deny justice— jacen really doesn't fit this anymore but Ben does still.

He will win and break his chains—I like your Idea for ben because Jacen never really had chains on him.
He will shed his skin and choose a new skin-well Jacen's already done this one but Ben has been trying to do just that
He will strengthen himself through sacrifice- Jacen's already done this and not sure if Ben could do that...unless he gives up his life to get revenge or bring order type deal.
He will crawl through his cloak- I have no idea what this could mean
He will know brotherhood- This makes me think either ben or Jacen will create a bond like a brother as either a sith or jedi
He will make a pet- Well Jacen started to have this and he's kinda creating another as we speak...can't see Ben making a pet really
He will strengthen himself through pain—Both are doing this one but it's still more Jacen then Ben.
He will be drawn from peace into conflict or possibly His life will be balanced between peace and conflict— Well the first part defently fits both of them and the second doesn't fit any at the moment because neither have had any peace really
