I saw the mess that the last fellow left when he tried to explain the lightsaber colours. Horrible display.
I'm here to correct him. Now, the basic colours I will show are blue, green, yellow, purple, orange, red, and silver.
Also take into play someone's personal backgrounds. Yoda might deserve a different colour lightsaber, but perhaps he has a predisposition for the colour green. Not everyone's skills are shown by the colour of their lightsaber, but the lightsaber itself does definitely show what colour the person prefers.
Blue: In Jedi customs, a blue lightsaber signified a Guardian. Guardians are more attuned to lightsaber combat and overall general combat than using the force. Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker are both examples of this.
Green: In Jedi customs, a green lightsaber signified a Consular. Consulars are more attuned to the force than they are to lightsaber combat. Healers and seers were most times Consulars. Yoda and Qui-Gon Jinn are both examples.
Yellow: Yellow lightsabers usually signified Jedi as Sentinels, though not all the time. Sentinels weren't as aligned to one focus or another, but seemed to take care into lightsaber combat, mental conditioning, and force usage. They could withstand mental influences and force attacks. A notable Sentinel would be Bastila Shan.
Purple & Orange: Purple and orange lightsabers signified a balance of both weapon proficiency and knowledge of the force. Wielders of a purple or orange lightsaber were usually defined as being masters of the Jedi art. They are fully well rounded in all aspects of the force and of combat. Examples would be Mace Windu (Purple) and Plo Koon (Orange[Plo was blue, but switched when he became more attuned to the Jedi Council, which makes sense, because you mostly just sit around trying to envision things all day, thus fulfilling his Consular focus]).
Red: Generally signified the Sith after Bane came in with his rule of two-ness. Examples: Darth Bane, Darth Sidious, Darth Vader, Darth Krayt. Loads of Sith there is.
Silver: In the Legacy Era, silver signified an Imperial Knight. Before that, it must have been some kind of predisposition towards the colour silver. Or maybe it represented a Gray Jedi for some? Who knows?
Not really suited for EUC...

Please don't insult your fellow users
Maul was trained in the dark arts since he was an infant. He has no mercy. He is more evil than Sidious possibly, only because Sidious has the ability to hide his darkness and appear as a regular person.
Truth is, folks, Maul is pure evil. He knows nothing else. Read the comics. Watch the movies. Even if his lightsaber has an orange tint on one of the action figures, doesn't mean he has good in him. It's just some colour mixing flaw, that didn't match up with the other figures.
