"After Star Wars was released, it became apparent that my story—however many films it took to tell—was only one of thousands that could be told about the characters who inhabit its galaxy. But these were not stories that I was destined to tell. Instead they would spring from the imagination of other writers, inspired by the glimpse of a galaxy that Star Wars provided. Today it is an amazing, if unexpected, legacy of Star Wars that so many gifted writers are contributing new stories to the Saga."
- George Lucas
As we continue the 30 years of Expanding the Universe--a joint celebration with Lit and the EUC--we're unveiling the next stages of our festivities. . Be certain to check out Lit's
Top 100 EU Moments
.
What we'll be doing is composing a list of top 100 EU characters.
Caveat cives
: you
must
restrict your choices to characters that were both UNNAMED in the credits (an example of an unnamed character would be Rebel Gunner #5) or have NOT had more than 3 lines of dialogue in the films.
In other words, characters such as Boba Fett, Wedge, Tarkin, Jabba, the Big Three are ineligible while characters like Hobbie or Bren Derlin
are
acceptable.
You can pick up to
20
characters to submit.
In addition
we will also be doing a Top 20 EU Developed Characters list at the same time--so all those movie characters that were ineligible in the first poll can be nominated here! You can pick up to
10
characters to submit for the
second
poll.
Please submit your lists altogether so that you nominate only once. You have two weeks!
Please PM all votes to my sock
GrandAdmiralsSocks
. If there are any questions, post them here or PM them to me rather than the vote count sock.
Thanks!
And remember, if you're confused--ask ask ask away.

Slight confusion here.
Do we choose EU-original characters or characters who appeared in the movies and then later appeared in the EU?

Your list can include characters who originated in the EU and film characters who later appeared in the EU (so long as they were either unnamed in the credits or had 3 or fewer lines of dialogue in the saga).
The secondary list is for any named characters appearing in the films who had more than 3 lines of dialogue who you feel have been best developed in the EU.

Ah, okay, thanks. I'm guessing that most lists are going to look pretty similar.

So in other words, we could probably nominate Darth Maul for the first list

RE: 30 Years of Expanding the Universe: The Top 100 EU Characters and Top 20 EU developed characters
1)
Armand Isard
- Inexplicable awesomery. Not even I can understand why I like him, I just do.
2)
Antinnis Tremayne
- Incompetence and sadism make for an interesting mix.
3)
Borsk Fey'lya
- Because good guys are dull. Also, his concern at the end of
The Last Command
is priceless. Also, I hear he went out with a bang.
4)
Tholme
- Ostrander's only really decent character, IMO. Shame he's only a secondary character.
5)
Antan Azzameen
- A devious fellow who honestly seems to have his family's best interests at heart...until the final hour, where he's shown to be a "Son of a-"
6)
Marn Hierogryph
- "He's not a Jedi! He's just an intern!"
7)
Yamarus
- The greatest badass no one has ever seen. He's like a father figure to his pilots, and you'd pretty much say yes to him if he sent you on an optional suicide mission. Sad that he likely went down with his ship, the
Liberty
.
8)
Lumiya
- From dirty no-good crossing swindler to scenery chewing villainness to arbiter of the return of the Sith. It's an interesting arc, at least.
9)
Mount Sorrow
- Sentient homicidal depressed mountain. How can you go wrong?
10)
Orman Tagge
- Belt. Collar. Nuff said.
11)
Eugene Talmont
- He has a cane and a toupee. Also, he hates Tatooine. Also, he hates Jabba. Apart from the toupee, we're like kindred spirits.
12)
Kuat of Kuat
- Starts off as a villain, but without his character changing dramatically, we slowly see that he's not the monster here, you are. Jeter is underrated, says I.
13)
Roan Shryne
- The star of
Dark Lord
is an interesting character in his own right. I generally dislike the Jedi, and I hate it when they survive the purge, but I was sad to see Shryne go.
14)
Jerec
- "MORGAN KATARN!" The hammiest villain in Star Wars, therefore, one of the funniest. I suppose he's got an interesting story too...
15)
G0-T0
- Forget Kreia, this...thing is the most fascinating character in
The Sith Lords
. He never fails to disappoint, and he always manages to dash your hopes at every turn. Fantastic voicing job to boot.
16)
Cal Omas
- The Howard Beale of the EU. Sick of the Jedi, sick of the military, sick of the whole damn lot. Tops himself in a classy fashion. (See #3)
17)
Janus Greejatus
- I am a ham.
18)
Thrawn
-
TIE Fighter
introduced me to the man, and, basically, bar Vader, he's the only non-turncoat character in the game. Gotta respect that.
19)
Gilad Pellaeon
- Oh, he might retreat from everything, but he's the perspective in the Thrawn Trilogy, and a spouter of gems later on. Probably a better character than Thrawn, in the long run.
20)
Airen Cracken
- Airen...Cracken. I'm sorry, but that's just the greatest name ever.

RE: 30 Years of Expanding the Universe: The Top 100 EU Characters and Top 20 EU developed characters
20. Darca Nyl
He's a mercenary driven by vengeance. Yet stick a lightsaber in his hand, and suddenly he becomes a hero, a Jedi in all but power. Darca's a figure right out of a classic western – the gunslinger retired happily to the farm with a wife and child when a killer swings by and takes it all away, pushing him to track down his foe for some frontier justice. He's an ordinary guy – or is he a hard-bitten killer himself trying to be ordinary? He's an expert merc, but he blunders into situations waving his inherited lightsaber around, and as everyone assumes he's a Jedi, he comes to inhabit the role himself, slowly becoming a more contemplative and selfless hero. He completes his act of vengeance against the odds, and finds new purpose in continuing his hard road, becoming a protector of others. It's a great arc for a great character, and I can't wait to see what Rebellion does with him.
19. Sagoro Autem
The dedicated Senate Guard who's willing to put the Republic ahead of his family . . . until the day he realizes it's not worth it. Too late. Autem's a very real character, but the dedication he sees as a strength can also be a weakness. Yet when he abandons it entirely, that becomes a weakness as well. It's only when the Empire turns on him and he has nothing left to dedicate himself to that he's finally able to reconnect with his family. I'd love to see more of him in Dark Times.
18. Nil Spaar
Pure villainous goodness. Devious, calculating, he provides the perfect antagonist throughout the Black Fleet Crisis. Among the best EU villains, he's one of the few Bantam opponents with real punch.
17. Jolee Bindo
A hilariously grouchy old man, a discontented Jedi – and a wise mentor who just can't keep himself from doing the right thing no matter how much of a gruff front he puts on. Vastly funnier than HK-47, he provides a great perspective in KOTOR, really helping flesh out moral issues without pushing Revan around too hard and letting him find his own way.
16. Ton Phanan
Hilarious self-loathing cynical comedic doctor who delights in being a jackass. And we love him for it. He's a beautifully well-realized character, considering that he was a second-stringer in Wraith Squadron and not much better in Iron Fist before he died. Yet his death broke all our hearts.
15. Nom Anor
Master manipulator, devious bastard – Nom Anor was the guy you loved to hate throughout the NJO. Other villains came and went, but Anor was there the whole time. A self-centered cynic and skeptic among a species of religious fanatics, he was a fantastic antagonist. And his turn as Yu'shaa was just inspired.
14. Mitth'raw'nuruodo
Is some of his uber-tactical ability cheesy? Yes. But he's brilliant, he's classy, he's mysterious, and now he's got a great arc of corruption by the Empire. Thrawn remains the all-time best EU villain – a guy you could hardly help but like, but who was still clearly the bad guy – driven home by his occasional display of utter ruthlessness.
13. Soontir Fel
Best. Imperial. Ever. Honorable, dedicated to the Empire, committed to protecting the galaxy, he just exudes awesome. We could see why he was an Imperial, and we liked him. A great example of a genuine hero on the bad guys' side. The Making of Baron Fel remains probably the best backstory work in the entire EU. I demand to see more of him. Now.
12. Zayne Carrick
He's some kid with no self-confidence who suddenly has the whole universe turn against him – and he becomes a hero. I don't think there's been anyone without the last name Skywalker who's been such a purely heroic character carrying his own series. He's an iconic hero, really, yet he remains utterly unimportant. He makes a bit of a difference here and there, true, but he's not Luke Skywalker. He's not Revan. He's not Obi-Wan Kenobi. He's Hobbie Klivian, yet he's carrying his own series and doing so magnificently.
11. Lorn Pavan
The ultimate everyman character. He's not a Jedi, not a Sith, not Force-sensitive. He's not a soldier, not a smuggler. He's an accountant, basically, who got kicked out of his job and now he sells things on the black market. He's not the best in the business. He's not, in any way, uber. Then all of a sudden he's thrown up against Darth Maul, and you know what? He beats him, ultimately. He escapes; only the pervasive reach of Darth Sidious brings him down. But he doesn't beat him because he outfights Maul, or outthinks him, or because he's uber in any way. He does it because he's lucky and he's desperate and he knows the territory and he's just plain determined to live. He's the everyman done right, the best one in Star Wars.
10. Janek Sunber
Luke's buddy Tank, unexplored for years, suddenly turns up . . . as diehard loyal Imperial Janek Sunber. Sunber's such an admirable character, a young idealist out to change the world and a true believer in the glory of the Empire. Then he starts running into its shortcomings, and Sunber's rationalizations and justifications and dismissals show just how easy it is for good people to serve evil. Then, when he finally comes face-to-face with Luke and realizes that his best friends have become Rebels . . . he still stays loyal. It's a gut-wrenching storyline, that such a fundamentally good young man could hang on to such an evil system, turn on his own friends out of his own desperate
need
to be convinced that he hasn't been fighting for the wrong side.
9. Roan Fel
Roan Fel's badassery knows no bounds. An Emperor who's a good guy? Sign me up. He's delightfully badass, Imperially hard and cold without being evil. He's pragmatic, a Bel Iblis rather than a Mothma, and it just plain works on so many levels for me. Delightful character who adds a lot to Legacy.
8. Corran Horn
I don't think there's a single EU-originated character whose head we've been so thoroughly inside. For those who have read Stackpole's work, Corran is like an old friend – Stackpole's habit of really fleshing out his characters' backgrounds, habits, and family lives serves Corran excellently. He's a character with flaws that just make him more human and strengths that make him a great guy to root for.
7. Darovit
I don't know how he'll come off after he's Karpyshynized, but as he appears in JvS, Darovit is fantastic. A kid who dreams of being a Jedi, you'd think he'd be a hero. But look at the contrast with Pernicar and Kiel Charny, who don't want to be Jedi. They are Jedi because it's necessary. Looking at that, you can realize that Darovit wants to be a Jedi for all the wrong reasons, and when he realizes that the Jedi aren't perfect, he's suddenly put into the situation of despising the Jedi when they don't live up to his dreams. So he joins the Sith, but he realizes that it's not any more fulfilling than the Jedi were. He turns against them, is defeated, and decides to become "Just a man." It's poetic.
6. Cade Skywalker
You've got to admire Legacy for having the sheer Death Stars to give us a putative hero, heir to the Skywalker legacy, who's a near-suicidal druggie who wants nothing to do with the Jedi. You knew it had to happen, and Cade's disillusionment with the Jedi path and the galaxy at large is beautifully executed. He's a bold character to come out with, and he works because you sympathize with him and, as much as you think, "Well, he has to become the hero, eventually," you can't help but wonder if he
won't
.
5. Ben Skywalker
With the possible exception of Kol, he's my favorite Skywalker. A powerful Jedi who doesn't necessarily want to be saddled wit the Skywalker expectations but who is still determined to do the right thing. He looks up so much to his cousin and master, and when Jacen starts to fall, Ben is pulled along with because Jacen's rationalizations are so good. Ben's pure belief in the goodness of what he's doing renders it questionable if he's doing wrong at all. Yet he never gives in to Jacen's excesses and retains his moral compass. When he gets beyond his teenage worries, he's going to be one hell of a Jedi.
4. Jagged Fel
Sad but true – he's the only major next-generation character who isn't a Jedi. Jag was awesome enough when he started out as Soontir Fel 2.0 – an insanely skilled pilot dedicated to protecting galactic order. Then he started fighting with the New Republic and became Wedge 2.0, the reliable and super-talented career pilot who provides the pragmatic, down-to-earth military perspective. Being the major non-Force-user among a crew of Jedi, he also took on the mantle of Han Solo, the relatable, brash, cocky Corellian pilot blazing in to the rescue. He's easily the best new character to come out of the NJO. Then we saw him in Dark Nest, put in the unusual position of going up against his good friends out of loyalty to his cause, and feeling betrayed by them. LOTF then shows him as a free-traveling rogue, more Han than ever, with absolutely no one in his life but slowly rebuilding old connections. Couple that with the likelihood that he'll be the first Galactic Emperor since Palpatine, and you've got an incredibly well-rounded character who
works
in all the various roles he's been forced into.
3. Jacen Solo
A controversial pick, no? Jacen was forgettable as a youngster, a kid making stupid jokes. But he grew up, he started thinking. About life, about the Force. And as much as you wanted to smack him upside the head throughout the early NJO, he was interesting and he was real, the teen so caught up in petty teenage philosophizing that he was caught in inaction but who desperately wanted to do the right thing. Then
Traitor
happened. Jacen was put through the wringer, and suddenly he was a badass. Complex and pushed into action, Jacen became the hero who combined action with philosophical concerns and made it work. Then he went away, and somewhere in those five years he lost his moral compass, he let his power get to his head, and he came back a dangerous antihero who quickly descended into villainy as he used cold but frighteningly plausible logic to become the next Sith Lord, slowly losing himself in the dark side. Complex and intriguing, the first time we've seen someone originally created as a hero become a villain, Jacen is easily worth inclusion on the list.
2. Anakin Solo
We watched Anakin Solo grow up from a moderately interesting child to a quiet prodigy through the Bantam years. Then the NJO came, and he completely kicked our asses. A standout hero determined to do the right thing, you couldn't help but love this fiery hero in the making, and we eagerly watched him develop into the Next Great Hero. Then, out of the blue, tragedy struck. Anakin was gone. And nothing was
ever
the same again. Had Anakin lived, he could have become the next Luke Skywalker. But we already had Luke Skywalker, and eventually Anakin would have become just another hero among many. But instead, Anakin died, cut down in the prime of his life. And in so doing, he was preserved, forever perfect. He became the symbol of heroism, both in-universe and out. He became symbolic of all the potential lost in war, all the bright young men cut down. He showed us that in war, no one is safe, and being a good person, being a great person, being a hero is no protection. He showed us that men become legends as much through what they
are
as what they accomplish.
1. Vergere
Incredibly complex character who is, sadly, deeply misunderstood. She's a great example of a character with depth who doesn't fall neatly inside any of the categories – a character who forces people to think outside the box, one who isn't clearly good or bad. And that might be part of why she's so underappreciated.

Hobbie, Janson, and Derlin are fine--they don't have enough lines to be considered "movie" characters.

RE: 30 Years of Expanding the Universe: The Top 100 EU Characters and Top 20 EU developed characters
EU-developed list. And good lord, I can't believe I forgot Borsk from my EU list. Dangit.
10.
Jango Fett
Jango Fett was just plain cool in AOTC, and having the EU flesh him out as a war orphan, loner, and, well, prototype Boba Fett in more ways than one really helped show him as a flawed but intensely interesting man. I'd really like to see more of him.
9.
Han Solo
Han's hard to get wrong, and it's very rare for him to be significantly out of character in the EU. Instead, he's consistently the best-portrayed of the big three, coming off extremely well as a character who both retains what made us love him in the films, but also develops and matures. The only reason he isn't higher is because, while I love his characterization, I've never been entirely satisfied with his direction and use in the EU. Much of the EU has held him in a perpetual TESB state, flying around with Leia and the
Falcon
doing whatever, which too often comes off as contrived, repetitive, and unimportant. It also regresses his character; the development in ROTJ is ignored; Han should have remained a general, one of the roles I most enjoy him in in the rare instances we get to see it. It puts him in a place he's not entirely comfortable, which forces development, it puts him somewhere naturally convenient to the plot, and it just really gives him a chance to shine and develop as a leader. Still, missed opportunities aside, what we have is damn good and deserves a spot on the list.
8.
Boba Fett
Boba Fett has been plagued by uneven characterization, especially in his rather blah comic appearances. However, his various portrayals add up to a portrait of a bounty hunter who lives by a strange, idiosyncratic code of honor, is ruthless and unstoppable, and lacks any social skills whatsoever. It's a great expansion for a guy who through the movies and much of his EU appearances was little more than a suit of armor that looked cool and shot things.
7.
Mon Mothma
Ooh, this is going to tick off Jello. Mothma, however, went from a minor figure in ROTJ ("Hey, who's that woman running the Rebel meeting? What's her deal?") to, courtesy of the EU, the widely-respected heart of the Rebellion and New Republic. She was fleshed out and presented as a strong character, yet instead of the idealistic paragon she could have been simply shown as, she was a woman with control issues, afraid to delegate and leaning too heavily on a select few advisers. She could swing between idealism and pragmatism, showing her to be in some ways hypocritical and, while an inspiring leader, far from perfect. Really, it's a far more nuanced and gray route than the EU could have gone, and for that I salute it.
6.
Palpatine
Due to the constraints on his prequel appearances and the Sidious not-really-secret, he wasn't used to his full potential in the PT EU, but Palpatine's EU presentation remains impressive. He's the evil genius, the inescapable mastermind throughout all the prequel literature, sly and manipulative in the most glorious way. Throughout the OT-era material, he shines as the ultimate evil, a man so incredibly twisted and corrupt and brilliant as to defy explanation. Palpatine's characterization is spot-on; the only reason he isn't ranked higher is because of the weird blip that is Dark Empire (though it helped create some of the awesome, especially in the DESB) and the EU's failure to really tie him in to his role as Dark Lord of the Sith and explore that angle more.
5.
Ackbar
"Hey, you remember that one fishy guy on the big ship in Return of the Jedi? Let's make him the Rebel supreme commander, a wise, serene old veteran who's one of the greatest tactical and strategic minds to ever live, and symbol of New Republic honesty, strength, and courage." I don't know just how it happened, and I don't think it was as simple as that, but it happened and it's great. Take a minor character in the films and turn him into something central and spectacular in the EU? That's going on the list.
4.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
From the OT to the PT, the EU hasn't really made any significant mistakes in its portrayal of Kenobi. In fact, it's only enhanced his image as the wise, serene, Ultimate Jedi Master while also adding new dimensions to his character -- his brash youth and his young-adult conservative period before really hitting his stride come to mind. Staying on-target with characterization plus adding great new elements = high rank.
3.
Anakin Skywalker
Darth Vader was always awesome in the movies. And that awesome has, in large part, carried over to his EU portrayals, from the classic comic strips to Shadows of the Empire to Dark Lord. Anakin Skywalker was not always awesome in the movies. The EU, however, has greatly improved him, whether it be the AOTC novelization fleshing out his romance and the ROTS novelization fleshing out his fall or the Clone Wars EU showing us the dedicated, if flawed, hero we expected, wanted, and needed to see. Skywalker would easily be a spot up if it weren't for some of the low points in his EU presentation -- the wussification of Darth Vader and the evilization of Anakin Skywalker, where character traits of each iteration of the character are swapped to provide "links" in the characterization while missing the point that the character
changes
significantly from one to the other.
2.
Dooku
Dooku was important to the films, but neglected by them. He showed up only in the end of AOTC as a charismatic villain with potential, but was tossed aside in the very beginning of ROTS. It was left to the EU to flesh out this Sith Lord and significant villain, and the portrayal of him throughout the Clone Wars EU was right on target, fleshing him out as a significant, recurring enemy mastermind. His background as a Jedi was also developed, showing a proud student whose fall was easily believable but whose favored-son position made sense as well. A great example of the EU taking a character shortchanged by the films and making him what he was supposed to be.
1.
Wedge Antilles
Wedge Antilles is the triumph of the EU. A recurring extra in the films first became a talented pilot and recurring EU extra, then a top general, and then finally got an entire series revolving around him as he was established as one of the greatest pilots ever to live and a key figure in the EU. Wedge commands massive name-recognition and has one of the most fleshed-out and consistent characters in the EU. No one's been treated better by the EU than Wedge.

RE: 30 Years of Expanding the Universe: The Top 100 EU Characters and Top 20 EU developed characters
My personal top 20:
1. Kyp Durron:
he has been my favourite ever since I read JAT, back when I started reading SW novels, and up until now not one single character has dethroned him. It's a pity Anderson didn't go down as well as Stackpole or Zahn, for Kyp, then, would have had a more prominent role, a part from in Allston's works, where he shines for what he is, and not as a stupid brat . I'm talking about early NJO and Dark Nest, where his characterization seemed to have reverted a little bit). I do also think his relationship with Han should have been more debeloped, be it through any of the Solo siblings, or through Han himself. By the way, I'd love to see him being Ben's Master
.
2. Jagged Fel:
another character I loved since his first appearance. I just liked how he dismissed Fey'yla and all the politicians, as well as his interaction with Wedge. I was sad to know he broke up with Jaina, at first, but loved how he has been protraied in LotF so far. I really hope the next series shows how he founds the Fel lineage
.
3. Soontir Fel:
another Fel tops my list. "The making of Baron Fel" is, up there with Union, the best star wars comic I've read. Besides, his role in Vision of the Future is equally good. I still don't believe the threat he talks about are the Vong, despite having OFP saying so, so I'm still waiting for Zahn, Stackpole or (better) both to determine what this enemy is. I like to think they are the reason as to why Thrawn takes him to the UR.
4. Anakin Solo:
he was the hero SW needed after Luke. Edge of Victory made an outstanding job with him, which was topped by Denning's Star by Star. I still wonder why did DR have to kill him when they could have chosen Jaina.
5. Roan Fel:
yeah, I love the Fel lineage
. I knew this character would be badass when I saw his first picture in Legacy 0. It was proved true when he retook his throne, and with Legacy 13. He is the character I want to see more of in future arcs, as well as all the Imperial Knights.
6. Corran Horn:
I recently finished Wedge's Gamble, and I am yet to read the rest of the series and "I, Jedi", but for all I can see, he has faced one hell of development from "Rogue Squadron" to TNJO. I liked his character when I red it first in Dark Tide, but he made it up here because of his earlier appearances in the X-Wing series.
7. Ulic Qel Droma:
his story is one of the most tragic in the whole EU. How he fell to the dark side, what made him turn back to the light, how he was like after this, and, above all that, his unfair death, one of the best I've read, and one that could be defined as "not with a boom, but with a whimper". Tragic, tragic, tragic
8. Thrawn:
well, what else could be said about him?
9. Kol Skywalker:
it is true we have seen little about him, but this little is enough for being in the list. His relationship with Morrigan makes for a really good story that I'm aching to read about.
10. Vergere:
pretty much the same Havac said. He put a middle point in the Black or white universe. I find horrible how her vision of the force has been retconned in LotF. Let's just hope it all is a lie made to turn Jacen to the Dark Side.
11. Nom Anor:
Tsavong lah was also a good Vong, and Nas Choka is kind of the Pellaeon or Ackbar of the Vong, but Anor was far more interesting than any of them. Despite being a Vong, he didn't like most of their habits; even though he disguised as human, he didn't like ot either. If I remember correctly, he succeded being a Shamed One. Still, he didn't think he belonged anywhere. Thus, his only escape was death. I just hope Del Rey leaves him dead
12. Gilad Pellaeon:
if there is anything the OT EU lacks is of important imperial characters that remains in the same side no matter what. More recently we have had Janek Sunber, but I think he needs a lot more characterization to be in the list.
13. Gavin Darklighter:
I've put him here due to the same arguments as Corran. He might have not evolved so much, but he, in Wedge's Gamble at least, has so much of a typical teenager kid that it makes him lovely, interesting, and most of all, credible.
14. Tycho Celchu:
as I've said, I am reading the X-Wing series, and I am loving it, so I can't do anything but praise its characters
Even though I knew he was good, I was intrigued to know whether he was the imp agent or not. I still am, in fact, since I think Isard was pretty vague with Horn at the end of Wedge's Gamble. But it is his backstory what makes him be here, in my list.
15. Kir Kanos:
the same as Pellaeon. One of the best imperial guys we've had, and one I'd like to see more about, like a lot of people here, as I've seen.
16. Borsk Fey'lya:
someone described him as "the guy you like to hate", and it fits him perfectly. He somehow redeemed himself in Star by Star.
17. Kyle Katarn:
jokes aside, I enjoy reading about him, and playing as him
A pity it took so long for the authors to include him in important events.
18. Darth Bane:
Jedi vs Sith showed as a merciless almost unstoppable sith, resulting a depiction of him I really liked. Although I didn'y like some things about him in Path of Destruction, I loved how he was characterized, and the path he followed from the mines, to Korriban, fimishing with his travel to the UR. I can't wait to get hold of Rule of Two.
19. Ben Skywalker:
I think it would have been a lot more ineterting to seen gim as a squib skywalker, but the way he has been written up until now has been really good. In addition to the force, he has skills as a CSF, which makes him quite different from his father and mother. I just hope he doesn't forget this knowledge and applies them to his jedi training when he grows up.
20. Revan:
a fresh characters when the EU needed them the most. You make like the fact that you are Revan more or less, but the legend the name is shrouded in is undoubtedly great.

I'm not going to comment on everyone, some have already had enough said about them.
Top 20 characters:
1. Corran Horn
I'm biased, I know, but I can't help it. What's not to love about a guy who is a fighter jock and a Jedi? Plus he has different Jedi powers and restrictions making him unique.
2. Wes Janson
3. Mara Jade
4. Thrawn
5. Cade Skywalker
6. Roan Fel
7. Saba Sebatyne
Gotta have some females in here. She's one of the strongest female Jedi characters that we have and still have.
8. Tycho Celchu
9. Anakin Solo
10. Jagged Fel
11. Soontir Fel
12. Kyp Durron
One of the first characters we got to watch grow up into the Force.
13. Quinlan Vos
14. Ton Phanan
15. Face Loran
16. Zayne Carrick
17. Talon Kardde
18. Booster Terrik
19. Iella Wessiri Antilles
Not only a strong character on her own, but combined with the Antilles clan is makes her that much cooler and helped keep her around. The mother of two new female characters as well needs props.
20. Mirax Horn
I just wish I was her.
Top 10 Developed:
1. Wedge Antilles
2. Corran Horn
One of the few have first person pov from and the only with with a whole book that way (I think).
3. Boba Fett
4. Anakin Skywalker
5. Luke Skywalker
6. Admiral Ackbar
7. Kyp Durron
8. Anakin Solo
9. Jacen Solo
10. Obiwan Kenobi
