It's been pretty quiet in here lately. Invincible will be out in a week and a half. I hope Luke does something significant in it. I truly fear that he'll barely be in the book, just as he was barely in Revelation.

Hey Windy!
Yeah it has been pretty quiet here lately. I'm hoping part of that has to do with end of the year projects and finals and stuff, but we'll see how it goes.
I don't have a problem with Luke's attachment decision. I like the Jedi family aspect of his generation (not surprising though as I'm a huge Horn family fan), so the Corellian Jedi were different anyways.

Maybe... Plus, almost all of the action right now seems to be in the Invincible thread on the Lit board.
I don't have a problem with Luke's attachment decision. I like the Jedi family aspect of his generation (not surprising though as I'm a huge Horn family fan), so the Corellian Jedi were different anyways.
I'm actually very glad that Luke allowed the new Jedi Order to marry and have families. I'm just concerned though after everything that happened in LotF, especially with Jacen sort of becoming a Sith to protect his daughter and Tenel Ka, and with Luke killing Lumiya for revenge after he thought she killed Mara, that Luke may change his mind and suddenly declare that the no attachment clause is back in effect. I truly hope that doesn't happen.
Oh, if only we could go back to VotF or they YJK and start over from there!

I blame exams, honestly. That, and I'm trying to avoid Invincible spoilers, so I'm both too busy to think too much. Also, there aren't that many comic series to talk about.
Well, Secret Invasion is continuing, and seeming more contrived than ever, but that's nothing new for Marvel. Did you read the conclusion to Iron Fist? I'm glad one arc is over with, though I'm kind of disappointed that its only leading to another, and that that arc will be handled by different authors. I'm not entirely sure when the author change is coming as I don't want to think about it too much.
Did anybody read DC Univers #0? It was mainly teasers for upcoming big arcs, but I thought it was a bunch of very nice teasers, honestly.
On Luke, no, I don't think Luke's attachments are his problem, well, no more than Luke's compassion is a problem. Its just that Luke's good nature is an asset and a weakness at the same time. Luke will come out on time, there's little doubt of that (unless the last LotF book ruins that too), but its just a matter of time mainly.

* Oh, is that what happened to you kids?
That, and I'm trying to avoid Invincible spoilers, so I'm both too busy to think too much. Also, there aren't that many comic series to talk about.
* We have enough - a recommendation for you: Buy Captain Britain & MI-13!
Well, Secret Invasion is continuing, and seeming more contrived than ever, but that's nothing new for Marvel.
* I'm liking it so far, I don't think it'll be as radical as it claims but it'll still be fun.
Did you read the conclusion to Iron Fist?
* Yep, loved, it was a perfect ending and with it I'm done.
I'm glad one arc is over with, though I'm kind of disappointed that its only leading to another, and that that arc will be handled by different authors.
* I think the issue was written before the change was known about so I'm not sure we'll ever see the 8th city story.
I'm not entirely sure when the author change is coming as I don't want to think about it too much.
* Well, there's a historical tale in 15, a cliffhjanger tale in 16 and the new guys start 17, which is why I've bailed with this last issue.
Did anybody read DC Univers #0? It was mainly teasers for upcoming big arcs, but I thought it was a bunch of very nice teasers, honestly.
* My local didn't have it, will be acquiring a copy later this week.

Yes, Luke's compassion is both an asset and a weakness.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean here, N. What do you mean by, "Luke will come out on time?" I said that I was afraid that Luke would go back to the no attachments rule after what happened with Jacen and with himself in LotF.

RE: SOS - Luke Skywalker - Version 3.0
CoW, whoops, I meant to say "Luke will come out on top" in terms of a fight, a battle, or just the overall war. I probably just switched a few words around in my head and didn't notice the mistake when I was typing. Anyway, what I mean is that I have faith that Luke will survive the crisis mostly intact. If he doesn't... well, it won't be the first disappointment of LotF.
JB- What's Captain Britain about? New Excalibur sorta ended up a dud for me, as it became the basic "glorify Sage and Psylocke" Claremont story that most of his work seems to be for the last few years, which carried over into that Exiles crossover, and will probably dominate the new restarted Exiles series too.
Have you heard about the ending to New Avengers 40 yet? That series actually seems to have a plot that's advancing these days instead of just random ninjas. Of course, this only happens when the author is writing the major event, otherwise most of the time that series goes nowhere. Wonder what's left to blown up when the next issue comes out this week.
DC Universe #0 was mainly teasers for most of the major upcoming events, including Superman and the three Legions, Batman R.I.P., Blackest Night Prologue (with a nice glimpse at the eight colors), and ends with possibly a big surprise.
Iron Fist did have an excellent ending, though I am kind of disappointed not to see the end of the Tournament. Oh well, I konw, it stopped being about the tournament quite a few issues ago. And funny how well most of the Immortal Weapons can get along outside of the ring.
I've taken in interest in the Batman Detective Comics recently, and I'm interested in seeing the first post-Conquest Nova arc as well. Though most of us will probably be busy buying Star Wars comics for most of the next month or two. I just hope this pace keeps going into June, as then my school will be finished.

hey guys I'm back, I finish my 4 papers, FINALLY!!!
i'm planning to finally buy Legacy volume 2, along with GL No Fear tpb, CA: Death of a Dream part1-2, and NA volume 7.
I'm kinda wondering about Fraction's work on Iron man, the movie has been getting good reviews and I'm going to see it later today.
so back to Luke anyone have any speculations with what's the next for him after LOTF ?
and when's Mindor coming out ?

Nobody,
JB- What's Captain Britain about? New Excalibur sorta ended up a dud for me, as it became the basic "glorify Sage and Psylocke" Claremont story that most of his work seems to be for the last few years, which carried over into that Exiles crossover, and will probably dominate the new restarted Exiles series too.
* Forget about anything Claremont did first. The best intro I can think of would The Rudiments Of Wisdom TPB by Cornell but remember that that series was a MAX title, the new title won't be so Cornell won't be as explicit but it will have the same characters like John Skrull and Captain Midlands!
EDIT: Forgot to mention, paul Cornell is best known for his Doctor Who work, an especially good example being the Family of Blood 2-parter in the 3rd series of Doctor Who:
"We wanted to live forever, the Doctor ensured that we did."
* I've enjoyed both Avengers titles recently, it does seem the bald one may indeed have a plan!
DC Universe #0 was mainly teasers for most of the major upcoming events, including Superman and the three Legions, Batman R.I.P., Blackest Night Prologue (with a nice glimpse at the eight colors), and ends with possibly a big surprise.
* Heard about that.
Iron Fist did have an excellent ending, though I am kind of disappointed not to see the end of the Tournament. Oh well, I konw, it stopped being about the tournament quite a few issues ago. And funny how well most of the Immortal Weapons can get along outside of the ring.
* Frankly I'd buy an Immortal Weapons series!
I've taken in interest in the Batman Detective Comics recently,
* It has to be said that when he's writing it, Dini produces excellent work, his presence on the title has been erratic over the last 18 months though.
and I'm interested in seeing the first post-Conquest Nova arc as well.
* Don't forget about the new Guardians of the Galaxy title as well, or as Rocket Raccoon put: Asskickers of the Fantastic!
Though most of us will probably be busy buying Star Wars comics for most of the next month or two. I just hope this pace keeps going into June, as then my school will be finished.
* I buy lots of stuff! BUT comics are my primary hobby.
MS86,
i'm planning to finally buy Legacy volume 2, along with GL No Fear tpb, CA: Death of a Dream part1-2, and NA volume 7.
* Be interested in what you make of NA, as the work was quite controversial, the rest of that list is class.
I'm kinda wondering about Fraction's work on Iron man, the movie has been getting good reviews and I'm going to see it later today.
* The movie is excellent! You'll love it, as to the comic - it's out this week, I should be getting a copy Saturday. The Order ended very well too!

Yeah, I would buy an Immortal Weapons series too. Even if half of them would be arrested within a few days, what with Fat Cobra and his wenches, and how the two femme fatales would probably stab some people or drive them insane.
Ah, Doctor Who. Speaking of that, any opinions on the latest companion, Donna Noble? The new season is being broadcast (with the Sci-fi channel only being a few weeks behind the British show, funny enough), and she's one of my favorite companions so far. Nothing against Rose or Martha, but its nice to see someone who isn't instantly in love with the Doctor (and Rose and Martha basically worshipped the Doctor) whack the Doctor when he just goes on and on and on... Not to mention the Rose subplot.
Hm, I'll look into Captain Britain later then.
Mindor should be out sometime this year, I think. I haven't been paying attention to the release date too closely so that the wait won't seem so long. I'm already driving myself a little crazy waiting for Invincible coming out, nad doing my best to avoid any and all spoilers. Its just another week, its just another week....

* I'm sure they'd deserve their fate!

* Yeah, I'm enjoying the series, they've wisely opted for Donna to have grown up a bit since the Xmas special too.
Hm, I'll look into Captain Britain later then.
* I think it'll be one of those good but lesser known titles that needs all the help it can get in today's comics market.
Charles,
Not bad work, though that thread is starting to become disturbing as it details how a psychopath may act in a logical fashion of a kind.

RE: SOS - Luke Skywalker - Version 3.0
Well, SI #2 is out, and as I expected, it wasn't very interesting. Sure, the Invasion continues, but only for the last few pages (although those are nice looking pages). And look, its hero vs. hero! Whose side are you on? Whoops, wrong event. The "who's a Skrull" thing is tiresome already, not to mention short of killing someone, its kind of hard to tell who's a Skrull, not with telepaths, time travel, clones, and how these days, ressurections might instead just be Skrull agents. In Marvel, clones have all the memories of the original, right? At least in Spiderman they did, but not sure about the rest. And the Sentry's still a wuss, and probably will be for the rest of the event, or until the final fight, just like with Marvel's last event.
Has anybody seen Invaders/Avengers? Not sure where it is in continuity, but having all these Captain Americas running around gets annoying. We have that one in the actual series (who's not Steve, but supposedly isn't a clone, alternate universe, time travel, or anything else Brubaker has said), the one in SI (who's not likely to last long), and now this.
Legion of Three Worlds looks like its going to be an interesting ride though, even if the villain is yet again Superman-Prime.
And anybody read the latest Legacy issue yet? Though maybe the official Legacy issue topic back in Lit might be better for this kind of thing.

Hey, all. Been a while and sorry for missing out on stuff. Had my wisdom teeth out on the 18th of April and... just not feeling very motivated, SW-wise.
Ulicus
:
I just read the preview for that.
The extent of my Transformers knowledge only really extends to the G1 Cartoon and the Movie, and I'm not familiar with IDW continuity, but it looks great
I'd recommend Beast Wars and the 2007 movie. As well as IDW, too. A
great
take on G1.
Jedi_Ben
:
I finished 'Night of the Wolves' and I can't
wait
for 'Dawn of the Eagles'. Would you call the Occupation ST's version of the 'Dark Times'? It's pretty damned bleak, here!
ChildOfWinds
Trying to catch up a bit. I haven't had too much time to post lately. My mother broke her hip AND her wrist Wednesday evening, so life is even more hectic than usual.
I know it's too late to say, but my condolences.
Is she better?
There are hints that it was. I know that in Truce at Bakura, an elderly couple were over 130 years old. In SQ, Zahn referred to characters in their mid to late 60's as "middle aged". To me, it just makes more sense that people in a galaxy with advanced medical knowledge would have longer lifespans, so it seems pretty logical to me.
Same here. Considering what bacta can do, and the advanced prosthetics available...
But shouldn't Luke, Leia, and Han's grandchildren and great-grandchildren still be alive? Hey! In less than 100 years, Ben and Allana should even be alive.
And Tenel Ka... and Jaina... and Lowie... and Lusa... and Waroo...
And the problem with that is that Kol isn't that old, about 39 when he dies,
Right! And that's not even old by Earth standards!
That's only ten years older than I am, for kriff's sake!
I know it and still loathe it. I want Tenel Ka! I want Lowie!
Lowie for SURE should be alive! He's a Wookiee!
Wasn't Chewie only 250 or so when he was killed? Lowie'd only be a century old or so.
I don't either. He may have been used because he was an earlier Dark Horse character. And his hat seems to have been popular!
Bah! His hat's a fashion fo paux!
Personal canon for the win for me.
Thank goodness for personal canons!
In mine, I'm still waiting for something decent post-YJK. Something that's
like
SW.
Interesting, C! I'm glad to hear that Luceno didn't mean for Luke's attack to be Force lightning. Did he say what it was exactly/ So where did Luke learn to use Vaapad? *I* was disappointed with Luke's inactivity too!!!
I've always thought Vapaad was more intuition than anything. But I've always hated the idea of lightsaber forms, anyway.

FYI, I just finished watching Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles which is noteworthy to Star Wars fans as having the Darth Vader-esque being voiced by Mark Hamill. I thought I'd share my thoughts on this particular Space Opera series.
I got that, along with the entire Robotech series on DVD. Man, good times...
What's largely different about Robotech from other such offerings is that the final result was actually good and in the case of the later two series, a marked improvement over the originals.
I've heard that, actually. I see robotech as pretty much a different series from Mospeada and Southern Cross.
Unfortunately, it was a franchise that rather died out given Robotech didn't have QUITE the staying power that Star Wars itself. It's still a little engine that could, however, thanks to the DVD re-release of the original series.
Got them.
Man, Breetai is
hardcore
.
Ultimately, almost as soon as they repair the original ship and get it flying, humanity finds itself accidentally provoking a shooting war with the race that owned the ship in the first place.
Said race is, on average, 50-feet tall and bred for pure warfare. What brings them down is made of pure win and awesome.
And pretty damned cool, too.
Nobody145
Ah yes, funny enough, the Robotech novels were pretty good. I've gone out of my way to get as many as possible, but most of them are very long out of print, though they re-released the omnibuses relatively recently, I think.
I've got the first two omnibuses, detailing the Macross portion. Sticks to the anime for the most part, but fleshes it out too. I like Captain Kramer just 'being there'.
You've got to love franchises where the fans are so loyal they themselves eventually take over, er, take part in that franchise.
I wish that'd happen with SW...
Troy Denning is that big of a fan of Star Wars? Well, that's good to know. I just wish they wouldn't let anti-Jedi authors write Jedi novels. The end result isn't all that good.
I' sure he is... but his work is subpar at best, sorry.
MasterSkywalker86
:
The last of the Midterms have been vanquished you can finally post in peace....but a more sinister force is rising...blasted finals.
A belated good luck!
that's too funny...since DR have arrive on the scene we had nothing but war...sure they're different from one another but it seems there's no peace for any galactic citizen, and they're hinting now the war will be over.....to surprise have another one. If they wanted to be realistic they should have written "No war can last forever...unless your living in the GFFA then you just have separate multiple wars with a small chance of peace, the dwindling forces of the NJO and GA have finally reached their final battle....actually the publisher had reached that conclusion two books ago, they just wanted to keep you the reader spending more money on filler novels."
And the periods without galaxy-shaking conflicts has been glossed over at best with stupid timeskips! Not that I'd buy them, mind you...
Tormented and torn between the call of duty and the thirst for vengeance, Luke has searched the Force and beheld an unspeakable vision of the galaxy enslaved under tyranny more monstrous than even Palpatine’s. Now it seems that the last, best hope lies in mobilizing the scattered Jedi for one decisive search-and-destroy mission. The objective: eliminate Darth Caedus.
Translation: To effectively hold Luke back from solving the problem on his own we decided he do nothing.....o wait this isn't NJO...ok he'll get a force vision of a pretty OBVIOUS future under Jacen's rule. Now miraclously Luke decides to rally the jedi with his leadership to take down Jacen.....yay.
I consider Palps to not be the strongest Sith Lord... and he'd kick JINO's butt in 20 seconds, flat. More Monstrous than palpatine? What a load of slag! And ask any Beast Wars fna what slag means...
JINO sucks! He's pathetic beyond pathetic. Isoto would kick his butt.
It’s a plan that will be as difficult and dangerous to execute as it is daring. For Caedus is a scion of both the Skywalker and Solo bloodlines whose command of the Force surpasses even that of his grandfather Darth Vader. There is only one who is bound by destiny to stand against him in what will surely be a duel to the death, only one with an outside chance of bringing down the dark lord who was once Jacen Solo.
Translation: yada yada yada, Jacen is stronger than his grandfather in the darkside but vaguely where to Palpatine ? and now only one bugloving, Fett worshipping, jedi can do it. but will she be distracted by Jag or Zekk....whos knows ?
Correction:
I
could kick JINO's butt. Vader on the operating table could kick JINO's butt. An arthritic Ewok could kick JINO's butt.
I dunno when the due date for Force Unleash, but it looks pretty impressive. anyone has any expections for this game ? KOTOR quality or Force Commander Craptacular ?
Depends. What's Force COmmander?
Rouge77
:
Perhaps they already then planned to have Luke to be succeeded by his own child? And NJO, DN and LotF are just used to remove the Solo kids from the stage? To be replaced by DR's own creation, which turned out to be Ben.
I liked those kids more than a
lot
of other fan-favorites.
DeJade_Vu
:
Hiya everybody! So I haven't been on here since late December or something...I have a good excuse though. I've been studying in Ireland this spring semester. And what an experience it's been! I'm living in Galway, the most wonderful city in all of Ireland, although Dublin comes close--and since I've traveled to nearly every major sight in Ireland I think I'm qualified to give that opinion. (Seriously, ask me about a famous sight in Ireland--chances are I have seen it.)
Awesome! I've got Irish blood in me, and have always wanted to go there.
How is it?
How's Legacy of the Force going? Is it complete and utter crud or is it redeeming itself?
It sucks. It has sucked and will suck.
Personally, i can't wait for Tuesday so I can
shred
Invincible. Oh, wow...
