Which is why I'm so outraged about the continuity nightmare TFU is, not to mention it trying to one-up a lot of Star Wars and EU elements.
I haven't read TFU and I'm not planning to. I think that in all of the series since Del Rey got the contract this has been a problem too, with authors constantly trying to one-up the last story. As I've said before, I think the Galactic civil war should have been the biggest war.
With TFU and the new Clone Wars media blitz about to hit us, continuity isn't worth much anymore, sadly
.
Maybe it really IS time for a reboot. With the huge number of books that have been written post RotJ, it's really hard for a new reader to get caught up anyway.
And Calixte wanted Veed on the throne since before the end of the Sith-Imperial War, and the Sith's aid did allow the Imperials to defeat the combined GA and Jedi, but unfortunately Veed didn't quite consult with her on everything, and he wasn't quite intelligent enough to see the Sith double-cross coming.
YOu're probably right that Calixte probably wanted Veed to get the job so that she could be the true power on the throne. However, for as smart as she is, you would think that Calixte would no that you CAN'T trust SITH!!! To me, it would be obvious that they wouldn't be content until they were in charge.
Just for a short tangent here, and I'll highlight in case there are spoilers for the most recent issue of Legacy:
speaking of Sith, I think I read in one of your Lit posts that Cade is calling himself a Jedi AND a Sith? Is that right? If so, I can't imagine how Cade would want to be connected to the SIth in any way, shape, or form. It was the Sith who killed his father. It was the Sith who turned his whole universe upside down and completely changed his life. He HATED Sith at one point. Why would he ever identify with them at all???
And while Calixte probably knew the Sith were going to clash with the Jedi eventually, when the attack on Ossus began, it wasn't just Sith storming the Ossus Academy, there were also lots of Imperial troops and resources supporting the Sith.
True, but the Sith probably could have done this all on their own. They conducted a surprise attack on the Jedi. And there were TONS of Sith. I still think Calixte was taking quite a chance, especially if she had any feelings for Cade and Kol at all. And it seemed that she did.
This is speculation, but if Calixte had known about the attack, she probably would've tried to stop it,
And how was she supposed to stop hordes of Sith once she gave them an opening?
So Calixte was not happy about the Ossus Massacre, perhaps because with the Jedi around, dealing with the Sith will be that much harder,
It's sad to think that she was actually responsible for this whole mess for the Jedi, for so many deaths, and for the galaxy now being in the hands of the Sith. How she could ever trust them, I have NO idea.
or because of her husband and son being dead, or perhaps both.
Speaking of husbands, I wonder how she could have married Gunner's father if she was still married to Kol?
And Kol probably insisted on the marriage because of Cade, but I also see Kol as a traditionalist so he'd probably want an official marriage.
And I'm actually glad about that. Kol seems to be the one person that I'm happy was Luke's descendant. It's too bad he didn't live longer. I would have enjoyed reading about him as a major character FAR more than Cade.
Though the Veed and Calixte partnership is a bit... odd,
It is indeed. Maybe it is just a relationship of convenience. They're both ambitious and they both need one another to realize those ambitions.
not to mention how some people wonder if Calixte has Force powers too, given how she's had some success at shielding her thoughts from Force users (Sith and Imperial Knights who are sorta Jedi-ish or at least Jedi-level).
Plus, how much did she shield from Kol himself? Did he know about her alter ego? And even if Kol knew, she'd need to shield her other identity from the other Jedi.
At least the Legacy comics has non-Jedi or Sith characters, something that LotF seriously lacked as it went on.
I do miss some of the non-JEdi characters like Talon Karrde and Shada, but I also think we should have MORE Jedi characters too. Luke's NJO should have at least a hundred and maybe closer to 200 members now. It would be great to have some of them work as aprentices for Luke, Leia, Kyp, Jaina, etc. And I don't like Sith characters. I think the Sith should have ended with the Emperor and Vader.
And yes, I know the Legacy comics sorta lock in the post-NJO time period a little, especially with Del Rey oh so subtly shoving in beginnings to stuff we see in the comics , but I've almost completely given up on that time period,
Well, my favorite characters are in that period, so I don't find it so easy to give up on it. I truly don't like most of the characters in the Legacy period, and I find it hard to enjoy stories when I don't care about the characters and what happens to them.
so having the Legacy comics as the established future isn't really a big loss in my opinion.
For me, it is. I hate that the galaxy is such a mess again and that the Jedi Order is pretty much purged yet again.
And, there are TONS of Sith running around loose. It's like Luke, Leia, and Han's losses and sacrifices were worthless.
The prequel-era stuff was even more locked in and... wait, you probably don't like that era either, never mind.
No, I really DIDN't like the prequel era. I tried; I really did. Unfortunately, not only did we basically know what was going to happen in the future, but I don't think it was executed well at all. I think Lucas should have made sequels instead of prequels.
And Allana is a Force-sensitive child of two Force-sensitive parents, so she has uber-plot device powers, which explains how she alone probably noticed a secret panel or finds something like that or another contrived event, when neither Han, Leia or the various Skywalkers who have been on that ship over the last few decades have ever noticed it.
Luke is probably the most powerful Jedi ever and he didn't find it in all those years. Ben is a Force-sensitive child of two Force-sensitive parents as well. He's been aboard the Falcon many times in his life and he didn't find it either, so this seems really silly.
Oh yeah, and I don't think Luceno alone saved the NJO from a bad ending, since with books like The Final Prophecy and parts of the Force Heretic trilogy, there were signs of improvement,
For me, they weren't. I didn't like the Force Heretic trilogy or the Final prophecy. I found both not very memorable or interesting. The FHT particularly seemed to plod along for me.
LotF on the other hand was one long mess, beginning from DNT and just kept getting worse as the series progressed, ending with Invincible, which was a disaster on a whole other level,
I can't disagree with any of that. It's SO true!
so Luceno really has his work cut out for him, so much so that I think its impossible even for him, short of massive retcons, but they never retcon the bad stuff.
Luceno DOES have his work cut out for him. You're right that they never seem to retcon the bad stuff, the things you wish they WOULD retcon.

RE: SOS - Luke Skywalker - Version 3.0
Hey, everyone. I wish the mods would have let the SOS thread stay in the lit forum, but at least it still lives on in some form. I still haven't been able to bring myself to finish
Invincible
, especially after suffering through
Revelation
. Oh, that book was so bad, KT's "unique" POV was shared by 90% of the characters. Perhaps what bothered me the most about that one was that everyone and their sister knew all sorts of details about Mandalorian culture and language, to the point that such references were even crowbarred into Luke Skywalker's dialogue, but for some reason nobody had ever heard of the Sith before.
However, I have been reading TFU. I read the comic, and I really liked it. The story was obviously condenced, but I still thought it was good. I really don't care all that much about things like the
Executor
appearing complete too early. I haven't finished the book or played the game, but I honestly feel like
The Force Uleashed
is a nice addition to the
Star Wars
universe.
I've really been enjoying
Legacy
and
Knights of the Old Republic
, too.

Hey, everyone.
JOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi! Welcome back!!!!! It's been such a LONG time, but it's great to have you back!
I wish the mods would have let the SOS thread stay in the lit forum, but at least it still lives on in some form.
SOS IS still in Lit! It was locked by Havac and we were told we couldn't open a new one in Lit, but after we appealed to the rest of the mods, we were given permission to open up SOS in Lit. The Lit SOS is somewhat restricted. We need to make sure that Luke is the focus of the discussion (which is FINE with me!).
Here in Community we can discuss whatever we wish. So please do feel free to post in both SOS threads!
I still haven't been able to bring myself to finish Invincible, especially after suffering through Revelation. Oh, that book was so bad, KT's "unique" POV was shared by 90% of the characters.
I agree! It was TERRIBLE! She can't seem to keep her anti-Jedi bias out of her story-telling, unfortunately!
Invincible really wasn't much better, and it left too many things unresolved. It also ended some things extremely abruptly and tried to connect to Legacy too quickly, I thought.
However, I have been reading TFU. I read the comic, and I really liked it.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's prequel era, so I'm not planning to read it, but I'm glad you found something with SW in the title that you liked. I'm looking forward to Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor myself. I hope they don't delay it again! It's already been delayed twice.
I've really been enjoying Legacy and Knights of the Old Republic, too.
I like Knights of the Old Republic. Zayne is one of my favorite characters. Since that encounter between Cade and Darth Talon, I've pretty much given up on Legacy, though I still read spoilers, hoping that things will improve and I can jump back aboard.
Hope to hear from you again soon.

RE: SOS - Luke Skywalker - Version 3.0
Hey, nice to see you've returned Joser.
We did end up getting an SOS outpost in Lit, in the end so there's 2 threads active.
Have now read Legacy 28 and it has to be said that of the two of them, Syn's the smarter right now, because unlike Cade, he knows things ain't going back to what they were....ever. Like with so many other matters, Cade remains in denial and angry. He also, like Corran Horn, thinks he knows the dark side - unlike Horn, Cade has not yet been shown just how demonstrably wrong he is - Karness Muur may be the corrective in this instance.
As for the IKs, Krieg continues to shine as a character next to the oaf that is Antaries, whom it is ironic to hear talk of Vao lacking discipline given his own lack of diplomacy and tact!

RE: SOS - Luke Skywalker - Version 3.0
Nobody
Ah, I have heard of many of those horror stories about the 360, about the Red Ring of Death, discs being scratched, though didn't know the power supply was that huge. Do you mean a slim PS2, or the original bigger PS2? I'm assuming you mean the slim, but I've never seen a 360's power box, since most of the videos show just show the main unit by itself.
the sad thing about those horror stories they're all true, even the new ones aren't immune to the age old errors of the earlier models, and yes you can use the power supply to sit two.
I own the slim Ps2 and it's dimunitive stature is terrific for me(little entertainment center space).
Honestly, I'm still somewhat tempted, since I'm hoping the newer models will have those problems worked out (better chips or better heat sinks or something), but it partially depends on my mood and how obsessed I am with playing a particular 360 exclusive on any particular day. Mainly I just pray that some 360 games I want to play will eventually be ported to the PS3. I think the occsaional 360 game has been ported to PS3, so maybe I'll just wait until next year and see.
nope i still hear stories about the elites having the same errors...have to hand it to MS when they screw up they screw up big. but I wouldn't worry about PS3 once the bigger titles head out to the console and the developers understand the tech then there will be more games. what's hurting the system is the price tag and the new graphics card that goes with it.
And to comment on Secret Invasion, well... first of all, the idea for the series is stupid. Undetectable Skrulls? Sounds like an easy way to maybe retcon stuff, like say it was a Skrull, it wasn't that actual character. Also, there haven't really been any clues as to which characters may or may not have been replaced, not to mention what happens to the originals. Then there's the "method"... Reed figures it out, or supposedly the Skrulls use his brain to figure out how to do it... and that's it. Its like the "its magic" line Marvel kept repeating when asking about Spiderman continuity problems
the idea doesn't bother me as long as they could have make it work, but that doesn't seem the case for SI. it's best I stay away from Events otherwise Ill be in the same mess as with the SW EU and end up with crappy books on my bookcase. I'm very reluctant to buy Spidey Brand New day, I might just read the first trade at a bookstore and see if the dialogue is any funny.
Although there is one Batman TPB I recomend, aside from the normal Batman Year One, Long Halloween, etc. TPBs, and that's Batman Year 100. Its out of continuity, and is literally set 100 years after Batman's first appearance, but... its such a perfect Batman story, with all the essentials.
wait Batman is 100 yrs old ?!??!
And yeah, I'm mostly aware of all the continuity problems with TFU, which is why I refuse to buy the game and give money to support the idiocy. Its worse than anything Kyle Katarn has done continuity wise, and it messes up more stuff in one game than have happened during the whole Death Star plans debacle over the last few decades. I know Lucas was involved, but its not like that guarantees quality, not after the prequels. Its kinda sad that these days, with TFU and the launch of yet more Clone Wars media, that continuity simply doesn't seem to matter anymore. They just keep rearranging stuff almost as will.
the continuity doesn't bother me as much as them adding more Clone Wars stories. the game is alright, but I only played the ps2 version which is looks pretty good for a 10 yr old system, though the story isn't as complete as the next gen systems.
JB
Ah, the Force Unleashed! It was pretty, that has to be said, Ching, Dazo and the other guy did some great visuals...the story, however....
pretty but with less depth than previously assumed. the game has some issues with glitches with certain game landscapes. Story didn't bug me as much I thought especially with the DS ending proving what would had happen. also the next gen version has some problems with locking on to things for TK which surprising is smooth on the ps2 version....of course you can't lift things up and down as with the euphoria tech.
Anyone know the Battle of Corellia? It was new to me. The inclusion of the Death Star was clumsy, Byss would have been cooler by far but the chances of anyone successfully raiding that is zero so nope. The big continuity spanner starts big with Executor appearing too early, it's a full SSD, no artistic glitch, a full-on continuity screw-job.
? here's one thing I miss out on the PS2 version. I was hoping I would get to visit Korriban...I can't get enough of that place it's like Hoth. I also thought it was weird they had the SSD so soon but it's about 2 or 3 years at least before the battle of Yavin. Leia is at least 16.
* The Knaufs arc on Iron Man is great and Fraction's work is very good too, so I'd say go with these two, the former of which is collected in 2 trades.
Matt Fraction's book is the ultimate starting point for fans who just saw the film...and it looks to be a good book...despite the somewhat clumsy Larocca art...and Tony looking like a male porn star.
* Yeah, but if you're Jim Lee, you get a say over what to draw!
he's overrated IMO, Michael Turner was better...too bad he passed away.
* The Peter David TPBs are worth trying, older material though.
I hear that was the defintive Hulk books.
* There's no need for DR to do a 9-book series all in HC, but if people show an inclination to buy this stuff, why not?
sigh .. what happen to quality ?
* It's a real oddity, at this point I'm off the school that I've bought 6 of 8 so may as well buy the last two. Although, I have to admit, when he's turned up, Fury is damn cool - it's just very limited appearances.
true but his return doesn't convince me to fork over 16$ for it. speaking of comics that I would, buy Burden of Dreams was spectacular. It's like reading a Bourne/Clancy/Superhero story with a parallel view on modern times...it's almost like I could see this happening in real life. James confirms and relieves my fears with him taking the mantle...he's not Frank Castle with a shield, he's more of a Jason Bourne/Nick Fury with a shield(has a gun but difference in using it)....it's pure awesome. I'm looking forward to Brubaker ending his Death arc in order to see what's coming next for new Cap.
* I like the idea of slashing people to pieces, it's only a vid game.
hey I agree these are next gen systems after all.
* Heheheh, oh the amount of stories I've heard about the 360 - it's why I didn't buy one! Or think about it!
good man...I for one hope the MS console ends up last in sales this year.
Child
Hi, MS! I'm glad you're "reappeared", though you seem to have vanished yet again. How is school?
school has been busy and productive for me, I'm learning programming, design, intro to UNIX, and algreba. I got a full plate for this semester.
I'm glad to hear that! Have you finished it yet?
no not yet im 250 pgs in and it's getting good. I'm kinda happy that Luke is considering Mara's advice, though I dont agree with her asessment of Palp reborn...a jedi is always learning new things(even though DR seems to forget this)I finish the scene with Pelleoan meeting Leia, Elegos, and Ghent. I'm looking forward to continue with SQ...but after some other reads.
I certainly think so, yes. I don't know what Lucas' fascination with the era is.
it's where he thinks the money is
Oh, so could *I*! And this book seems to be the most eagerly awaited one at the moment. I hope we're not all going to be disappointed.
I hope both are good, especially the Luke book...maybe we can get a series.....
LOL! Hi, MS! You haven't been around much lately either, and you've been missed too. How is school and your new job in the computer lab?
the job is fun..I just have to brush up with my Office 2007 a bit. it's much easier and less stressful than my last job.
I will be interested in hearing what you have to say about it!
like JB and Nobody have said the story is....meh it's no Shadows of the Empire but then again it's no LOTF Revelation either. the game is probably the best way to experience TFU. the graphics on the next gen systems are astounding and the last gen consoles aren't bad looking at all. Gameplay is fun but could have been better it's no KOTOR. the characters are surprisingly likeable but like the prequels you know how things are going to play out.
*applies a Fallanassi illusion trick*
You're really good at that, MS!
there's a reason I call myself MASTERskywalker86.
hey Joser it's been a while.

RE: SOS - Luke Skywalker - Version 3.0
Hello, haven't posted for a while, just been busy
MS86- (nice to see you again by the way)
On the Batman Year 100 thing, they never make it clear in the story whether its actually stilll Bruce Wayne or not, or a successor, but whether its actualy Bruce Wayne or not isn't important, what's important is that even if its a 100 years after his first appearance, Batman is still Batman.
And ah, nice to hear confirmation on how... well, bad the 360 is/could be. On another forum I frequent, someone asked whether they should buy a Wii or a PS3, and then at least half a dozen members said he should go buy a 360, including at least one staff member. It was horrible.
When I tried to defend the Wii and PS3, well... its not going well. At least I know the original person asking the question went for a PS3, but ugh, never knew that forum leaned quite so heavily towards one console. One of their reasons for the 360 was that lots of big titles are multi-platform these days... which I don't see as a reason to go for a 360 over a PS3, but... ugh, never mind, no need to give a minor rant on this forum about someplace else. Just the reminder of our discussion on the Xbox's flaws made me think of that other forum. Must remember never to bother asking any console questions there, or else I probably won't like the answers they give.
I don't recommend Spiderman BND, as from what I've heard, most of the issues seem somewhat retro... which I guess is Marvel's aim, to "fix" Spiderman's status quo so that it'll be pre-marriage days, though aside from their sorta retro/outdated nature, its just bad stories too. Although most of my early pre-marriage Spiderman exposure came from the old animated series on Fox Kids (and the first two movies), I don't remember Peter being this big of a slacker.
JB
Well, SI continues to be... not that good. The latest Secert Avengers/SI Backstory has come out and... hasn't contributed new, not to mention ignoring a lot of House of M "rules", but oh well, considering how ridiculous House of M was, and how the X-men have mostly long moved on from that fiasco,l it was just more waste of paper. SI #6 had some good lines, I've heard, but... that still doesn't excuse it for again not much happening. Not to mention I'm not sure how the heroes are going to deal with a big Skrull invasion fleet. Unless they just send Iron Man and every other hero who can fly and/or fight in space up and boom, all the Skrulls go boom, but that still wouldn't excuse the waste of the time the last six issues have been.
And yeah, Ganner seems moderate, and I hope there won't be any big plot twists in the near future (like with Rus), although it might've been funny trying to see Draco negotiate with the Jedi.
Draco: "You Jedi are inferior to us in every way and you're lucky we even bother to deign you with our presence!"
Jedi (+Hat):...
By the way, how was your trip, and did you read Batman Year 100 yet?
CoW
The way I see in, post-war, Calixte was planning to have Veed depose Fel, she controls Veed (although he doesn't mind too much, since he has some autonomy), and then she'd play the Jedi vs. the Sith, and maybe try to have her husband and son captured at one point, if for no other reason than to deny them from the Sith in terms of killing a Skywalker and having that big reputation boost and/or to keep the Sith from trying to corrupt them (though the capture part is just speculation). What I mean is that if the Jedi hadn't been removed from the galactic playing field so quickly because Veed sent troops to help the Sith wipe out the Ossus Academy, Calixte might've still had a choice of playing the Sith against the Jedi. With the Jedi gone though due to Veed's incompetentence, she then has to warn Fel to escape, so that Fel on the run will keep the Sith from having absolute control over the Empire.
Now, Morrigan Corde might still be officially married to Kol Skywalker, but the number of people in that galaxy who know Morrigan Corde and Calixte are one in the same could probably be counted on one hand. The number of people who know Morrigan Corde is Cade's mother? I doubt its even in the double digits. So, while she isn't nice, her story is still very interesting, just like the rest of Legacy. Though KotOR, despite the recent flashback, is definitely the comic to watch right now, despite Legacy Vector starting out very nicely.

MS86,
also the next gen version has some problems with locking on to things for TK which surprising is smooth on the ps2 version....of course you can't lift things up and down as with the euphoria tech.
* Ever play Psi-Ops? TFU hasn't really moved much further from that.
? here's one thing I miss out on the PS2 version. I was hoping I would get to visit Korriban...I can't get enough of that place it's like Hoth.
* Hey, I'm not the only one. I love Korriban, it's just a wonderfully, creepy, scary planet that fits perfectly into SW.
I also thought it was weird they had the SSD so soon but it's about 2 or 3 years at least before the battle of Yavin. Leia is at least 16.
Matt Fraction's book is the ultimate starting point for fans who just saw the film...and it looks to be a good book...despite the somewhat clumsy Larocca art...and Tony looking like a male porn star.
* I'm not sure if I'll continue beyond the opening now, #7 has a Iron Man-Spidey team-up and I'm not sure I can get over the bad taste in my mouth over what Stark did to Parker. Yeah, OMD/BND wiped that out, but I don't care - it was a crappy series of acts by Stark. Then there's the Dark Reign effect that I am not happy about.
he's overrated IMO, Michael Turner was better...too bad he passed away.
* And at 37! That's the same age as my wife, scary really, and he fought an 8-year battle with cancer.
true but his return doesn't convince me to fork over 16$ for it. speaking of comics that I would, buy Burden of Dreams was spectacular. It's like reading a Bourne/Clancy/Superhero story with a parallel view on modern times...
* Ah, Act 2, I've just read #42 that is the conclusion of Act 3 and the overall end of this story. I won't spoil it, but there are a few loose ends for later, the main plot is excellently resolved.
it's almost like I could see this happening in real life. James confirms and relieves my fears with him taking the mantle...he's not Frank Castle with a shield, he's more of a Jason Bourne/Nick Fury with a shield(has a gun but difference in using it)....it's pure awesome.
*
And you were so fearful over this! Trust in Bru, MS86, trust in Bru! On this book, he hasn't missed a step.
I'm looking forward to Brubaker ending his Death arc in order to see what's coming next for new Cap.
* Do you read solicits? If so, you'll know...

ok guys....now that TFU is out what are your top 10 favorite SW games ?
also any predictions on Fate of the Jedi ? I like the idea Luke and Ben go on journey together but does anyone have any speculations ?
Nobody
MS86- (nice to see you again by the way)
On the Batman Year 100 thing, they never make it clear in the story whether its actually stilll Bruce Wayne or not, or a successor, but whether its actualy Bruce Wayne or not isn't important, what's important is that even if its a 100 years after his first appearance, Batman is still Batman.
Hello Nobody how's it going ?
That's creepy in a sense that they don't deny it's Bruce or not....honestly I thought it would be Terry Mcginnis. So this Batman has the same personalty as the real Batman ?
And ah, nice to hear confirmation on how... well, bad the 360 is/could be. On another forum I frequent, someone asked whether they should buy a Wii or a PS3, and then at least half a dozen members said he should go buy a 360, including at least one staff member. It was horrible. When I tried to defend the Wii and PS3, well... its not going well. At least I know the original person asking the question went for a PS3, but ugh, never knew that forum leaned quite so heavily towards one console.
I think the bias might be due to the great 360 live community or those Halo players
. I have to admit that 360 actually had a good online system, but that doesn't resolved a broken console and look how they jump the shark by dropping support for the xbox which was barely 6 years old. what's to say MS won't do the same on ther current console ?
One of their reasons for the 360 was that lots of big titles are multi-platform these days... which I don't see as a reason to go for a 360 over a PS3, but... ugh, never mind, no need to give a minor rant on this forum about someplace else. Just the reminder of our discussion on the Xbox's flaws made me think of that other forum. Must remember never to bother asking any console questions there, or else I probably won't like the answers they give.
some of the people in that forum could be paid to pass good word on 360, it's not unheard of. you can stick with us with consoles questions right here. yes I know it's a bit odd you would go to a Luke forum for console advice, but the majority of us play games JB, C, RK, Joser, JK88, me, the other regulars....cept Child
I agree with your recommendation, but I'm at least going to give a read of BND at a bookstore. the decision might be out of my hands anyway...Cap, Legacy, and possible MF and LSOM..are enough for me at this point money wise. I can wait a little longer for a good Spiderman story.
JB
* Ever play Psi-Ops? TFU hasn't really moved much further from that.
yes I have, but I remember the control scheme and the manipulations of TK was a real pain to control. though the TFU PS2 version doesn't have the ability to move them up and down, just side to side. it's much easier to lock on than the next gen versions
* Hey, I'm not the only one. I love Korriban, it's just a wonderfully, creepy, scary planet that fits perfectly into SW.
it has so much potential, KOTOR went over the vast details of the Old Republic history, but I would love to see how's utilized in the New Republic era-LOTF era. I wouldn't mind a Luke story on that planet...maybe he could duel ajunta pall.
Then there's the Dark Reign effect that I am not happy about.
what do you mean ? i thought Invincible IM was going to be the pominent series now that War Machine is taking over the previous series.
* And at 37! That's the same age as my wife, scary really, and he fought an 8-year battle with cancer.
it's scary and now with America looking alot like CA's America it's really messed up. plus those hurricanes hit where I used to lived real bad.
* Ah, Act 2, I've just read #42 that is the conclusion of Act 3 and the overall end of this story. I won't spoil it, but there are a few loose ends for later, the main plot is excellently resolved.
my *awesome sense* is tingling. I'm kinda concerned with what's going to be done to Lukin/Skull.
* And you were so fearful over this! Trust in Bru, MS86, trust in Bru! On this book, he hasn't missed a step.
lol, true he has written the best modern ongoing Marvel series. I just hope Steve comes back soon but not too soon. if you get my meaning.
* Do you read solicits? If so, you'll know...
holy Batroc...Captain!!!

On the Batman Year 100 thing, its not meant in a creepy sense, its just that the setting is a 100 years after Batman's first appearance, and there's still a Batman running around, and still fighting crime, and still kicking ass, with more modern technologies, but he still is great. Nothing to do with Batman Beyond (though that's a great series too), simply an alternate universe, with some links to the old.
I've heard what's happened in the recent Cap, and... not that much happens, mainly this arc is more about Bucky settling into his new role. Still a long, long way to go on just about everything else.
Good luck with reading BND, hope it doesn't turn out too badly. I've seen the TPBs at my local bookstore, but I'm still too disgusted to pick up any of them. Could you tell us your impressions after you finish reading that series?

I might have to take a look at Year 100... the classic cast isn't around I suppose right ?
I do enjoy when mantles are pass down the line in some instances, which in a sense is sort of what Cap is doing. The Flash and GL have done well with someone different taking the mantle. Though I like Bucky as a new Captain America I do want Steve back....just not yet. you know until James has settled in the Cap role.
I'll let you know how it reads, it's kinda sad how Slott and Spidey seem made for each other.....just not in this scenario.
any SW reads you're checking out ? I just read the synopsis of Fate of the Jedi...and it's almost like I anticipate it with dread.

RE: SOS - Luke Skywalker - Version 3.0
Nobidy,
When I tried to defend the Wii and PS3, well... its not going well. At least I know the original person asking the question went for a PS3, but ugh, never knew that forum leaned quite so heavily towards one console. One of their reasons for the 360 was that lots of big titles are multi-platform these days...
* Wipeout HD isn't and it looks amazing, plays great too. Then there's MGS4....
* Near enough, I did like how it linked to Annihilation, but that was telegraphed from the staret by talk of a wave.
* My own theory, given the info out on post-SI titles, is that the villains defeat the Skrulls, the public of Marvel hit a zenith of stupidity and decide they're better than the heroes! Because they kept America safe! This would be the logical, to the nth degree, of what Millar started with Civil War. The problem I have with this is, should it happen, why bother being a hero at all?
* I'm waiting for a hero to say: You know? *&^% 'em! That burning building? I'm going to sit on my arse because I'm not trained for it, who knows what'll happen if I intervene? Better be safe than sorry. (meanwhile mother and daughter burn to death, while the fire truck is in a snarl up, no - nobody gets out of its way, their lives are too important.)
* Draco is crusing for an inevitable decking...There's an NYPD Blue ep where a fitness freak cop goads Kelly, he talks tough and what happens? Kelly decks him with 2 punches.
By the way, how was your trip, and did you read Batman Year 100 yet?
* Great fun, very relaxing. Haven't yet got round to that Bat-story.
MS86,
Cap, Legacy, and possible MF and LSOM..are enough for me at this point money wise. I can wait
a little longer for a good Spiderman story.
* MF & LSOM? Oh wait, you've switched to SW titles haven't you?
it has so much potential, KOTOR went over the vast details of the Old Republic history, but I would love to see how's utilized in the New Republic era-LOTF era. I wouldn't mind a Luke story on that planet...maybe he could duel ajunta pall.
* Luke going to Korriban really should happen, it'd be great.
what do you mean ? i thought Invincible IM was going to be the pominent series now that War Machine is taking over the previous series.
* That's still the case. I just don't like the idea of Stark teaming up with Spiderman due to what he did to him. Dark Reign is like The Initiative, about the only book I can see myself trying is Secret Warriors because it's by Hickman.
my *awesome sense* is tingling. I'm kinda concerned with what's going to be done to Lukin/Skull.
* Oh....you'll like it....really.
lol, true he has written the best modern ongoing Marvel series. I just hope Steve comes back soon but not too soon. if you get my meaning.
* I'm certain he has something planned in that respect we'll never see coming.
* Oh yeah, I've recently decided to change my collection into trades - because of the sheer amount of ads - 40 page comics instead of 32 and the 8 pages extra? Ads. I've assembled Clone Wars, Rebellion, Dark Times and Legacy and flicking through the books does highlight DHC's achievement, they've cranked out 9 years worth of consistent, high-quality material - you may disagree with the nature of it - but it's all been well-done, why can't DR do this?
* The other stunning effect is the compression, it's amazing how much space the issues were taking up. Have also hit DC with a similarly stunning reduction. Future months will see Marvel, IDW and Vertigo plus independents being upgraded.

RE: SOS - Luke Skywalker - Version 3.0
wow very quiet here....what everybody decided to do a fallansi trick as well ?
anywho I like the new banner and can't get my eyes off miss Blue over there in the bikini, did they had a spring break in the Legacy series or what ?
I been playing Knights of the Old Republic for the past week and reliving the joy of one the best SW games out there. Force Unleashed was fun but could use some work.
JB
* MF & LSOM? Oh wait, you've switched to SW titles haven't you?
yup...what are your expectations with SW books now adays. I haven't heard your opinion ever since I convince u to read DNT(forgive me)and attain the rank of jedi knight. how about the Legacy series ?
* Luke going to Korriban really should happen, it'd be great.
see this is where DE 2 and EE could have been salvaged from the horrendous damage they did to the original DE. I would love to see Luke force throwing ancient sith pillars and statues at dead sith spirits.
* That's still the case. I just don't like the idea of Stark teaming up with Spiderman due to what he did to him. Dark Reign is like The Initiative, about the only book I can see myself trying is Secret Warriors because it's by Hickman.
hopefully Fraction can undo the damage that Millar done to Peter and Stark's friendship. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the dvd now. IMO it was the movie of the summer of course most ppl will tell you it's Dark Knight.
my *awesome sense* is tingling. I'm kinda concerned with what's going to be done to Lukin/Skull.
* Oh....you'll like it....really.
o would I, I hope it's not your typical villian cliche...this series has been going places and I'm happy with how Brubaker has handle things. he has shaken the total status quo of Cap and expand the story with new possiblities. I think this is what you meant when Alan Moore wrote Watchmen.
* I'm certain he has something planned in that respect we'll never see coming.
I see it as something we don't want at first...but Brubaker makes it work.
* Oh yeah, I've recently decided to change my collection into trades - because of the sheer amount of ads - 40 page comics instead of 32 and the 8 pages extra? Ads. I've assembled Clone Wars, Rebellion, Dark Times and Legacy and flicking through the books does highlight DHC's achievement, they've cranked out 9 years worth of consistent, high-quality material - you may disagree with the nature of it - but it's all been well-done, why can't DR do this?
so the ads have been bothing you ? exactly what ads do they give out ? I agree that DH has produce some good SW material, my favorites have been Legacy and SW Tales. as for DR I dunno...there's no thinking process or they like to make too much bang for their buck. I mean 19 books of YVWar AND 9 books where they kill off Jacen and his character ? c'mon give the guys a break from war o less books dealing with it, they're almost following a trait from Bantam but instead of having superweapons threaten the galaxy we now have continous wars springing up like brushfires.
also what o you think of Nat Skywalker ?
* The other stunning effect is the compression, it's amazing how much space the issues were taking up. Have also hit DC with a similarly stunning reduction. Future months will see Marvel, IDW and Vertigo plus independents being upgraded.
you must have a least 3 bookcases littered with single issues.

I've been busy too (college and all), and I'd post, but... the kriffing boards won't let me make long posts again!!
I have a few comments on most of the things mentioned in the last few posts, but unless I make about six, seven different posts, I can't post them. Oh well, I guess I'll just wait for the boards to fix themselves or something. I haven't posted this long already, what's another few days?
