MasterSkywalker86 .now that TFU is out what are your top 10 favorite SW games ?

Sorry, MS. I don't play video games.

also any predictions on Fate of the Jedi ? I like the idea Luke and Ben go on journey together but does anyone have any speculations ?

I put some comments about this in SOS Lit today. Apparently there is a blurb in MF. This was posted in the fate of the Jedi thread:

I'll highlight:THRAWN007
I just got my copy of MF and I have the excerpt for Fate of the Jedi:Outcast:

THE FUTURE AWAITS...
It has been two years since the death of Darth Caedus. Chief of State Natasi Daala has ushered the Galactic Alliance into a time of unprecented calm, and now the entire galaxy stands poised to freely embrace the same enduring peace that Jacen Solo once sought to impose as a Sith Lord.

In this new era, Luke Skywalker finds himself battling for control of the very order he founded. After Jacen's fall to the dark side, much of the galaxy sees Jedi Knights as rogue soldiers too dangerous and unstable to leave unfettered. It is a view shared by Chief Daala, who has sworn to bring the order under government control--or disband it entirely.

But the greatest threat to the Jedi remains unseen, a faceless menace even more lethal and insidious than the Sith who have plagued the Jedi for millennia. Awakened by Jacen Solo during his five-year odyssey, this hidden peril is reaching out from the darkest corner of the galaxy, assaulting Jedi Knights in ways that Luke has yet to perceive--but which he must quickly thwart if he is to have any hope of redeeming the New Jedi Order.

This doesn't sound good to me. Is Luke the "Outcast"???? Sounds like Daala wants to take over the Jedi. If that's true though, how can Luke leave on a long journey with Ben and leave the Order behind for Daala to grab??? And once again, the people of the galaxy don't seem to respect or want the Jedi in the galaxy. sad Why can't the Jedi Order ever be respected and appreciated???

MasterSkywalker86 did they had a spring break in the Legacy series or what ?

LOL! In a way, it was sort of a vacation.

I would love to see Luke force throwing ancient sith pillars and statues at dead sith spirits.

That might be interesting...

also what o you think of Nat Skywalker ?

Nobody145 but... the kriffing boards won't let me make long posts again!!

Did you try hitting the "post reply" button a second time? When I get an error message, I do that, and the message posts perfectly. Until I figured it out, I was annoyed as I ended up rewriting several long posts.

MasterSkywalker86
also forgot to mention about the new contract with DR....what do you think about these new story ideas ?

I still don't trust DR, MS. I've been "burned" by them too often, so I don't trust going near the stove. I don't like the idea of yet another long 9 book story arc that probably could be done as a trilogy. And all of the books are hard-cover. Thank goodness for libraries! It sounds like this will be a dark story again, with more conflict. And I don't like that Luke and Ben will be away from the main story for probably most of the series. sad It sounds like they've found yet another way to keep Luke in the background. sad

Nobody145 By the way, anyone else watching the new Clone Wars TV series?

Not yet. I just don't like the Clone Wars era. I guess I also don't like making Anakin as this huge hero either.

RK_Striker_JK_5 It would've been better if she DIDN'T leave. She had a responsibility to Cade and Kol!

I agre!

Zayne's from KOTOR, right? You would recommend that series to me?

I would recommend it too, Striker. I love Zayne. He reminds me a lot of young Luke.

Same here. I was sick of the Clone Wars halfway between AOTC and ROTS!

Sounds like me! wink

Well, with the YJK review thread... I'll be popping up a lot more.

Great!

The YJK had 14 books, and by the end, I fully accepted them as the new heroes for the new generation.

They did have potential! I wish they also would have done a similar series for Ben.

After how long, you'd think people would finally go Sith=bad. But nooooo....

You WOULD think so, wouldn't you???

Jedi Ben * You mean LOTF? Read Betrayal and bailed, suspected the plot would be as transparent as it appears to have been.

I think he means FotJ and the other books on the new contract.

* You should start reading KOTOR too, in some areas and ways it's even better than Legacy.

I like it a lot better than Legacy.

* I like Nat, I like that he doesn't hold back from laying into Cade when Cade starts talking crap.

I like Nat too, but I wish he didn't look like a couch potato! wink

the one that features Great Hyperspace War

What IS the Great Hyperspace war and when did it take place? The Nomi book sounds interesting to me too!

Re: Nat, blokes put on weight as they get older, despite their best efforts! I'm just waiting for a mate to hit 30 and expand sideways because he's a gannet!

The Nomi book is a must-buy for me, as for the other, it's not clear when it's set but there is a link of some sort to the Great Hyperspace War. That war took place 5000 years before the Battle of Yavin and saw the Sith invade the Republic, led by Naga Sadow. The same Sith Lord that fled to Yavin 4 and whose technology was found by Exar Kun 1000 years later.

I just wanna say to Jedi_Ben and Nobody145, thanks for blacking out the spoilers. happy hugs I legit appreciate it.

Jedi Ben:
Ah, car costs - OK, yep they will blitz your bank account RK.
The worst should be over this Thursday. Hopefully then or Friday I can get the book.

As to Transformers, I don't think they'd be very happy, do you?
Which is why it'd be so fascinating! Most crossovers would assume the good guys would team up automatically, but once Optimus sees an ad selling droids, steam would come out of his audio modules!

* I've blocked this for RK's benefit.
And I appreciate it, too. happy

* Ah, I was afraid of that, I'll be getting a copy Saturday but I'm inclining to the view IDW need a message sent by me dropping their titles and buying in TPB form only.
That's how I buy TF nowadays.

* Sad to say, I've abandoned the post-ROTJ era but I am enjoying Rebellion, too bad it's presently on hiatus.
I drew the line at the YJK. Good lord, how far it's fallen since a YA series, even one as good as the YJK!

ChildOfWinds
Sheesh! I see I'm really way behind here! It's pretty late, so I'll probably only be able to respond to a post or two tonight.
lol, not as bad as I am. wink I've been out of it a bit.

And I also want to know why Del Rey always feels that they have to do a huge multi-book series in the post RotJ timeframe? What's wrong with all single books, duologies, or trilogies as Bantam did? And the fact that they're making them all hardcovers is ridiculous. They certainly are greedy for money, aren't they? Do you realize how EXPENSIVE this FotJ series is going to be for people who BUY the books? Yikes!
It's a bad business decision. People who'd be inclined to go for the PBs won't now. And the long series means more commitment. With Bantam, you could pick and choose. Not ehre.

It would've been better if she DIDN'T leave. She had a responsibility to Cade and Kol!

I agre!

When my parents divored in 1981, my father still made time for me. He was a good father and I'm proud to be his son. So to see someone shirking their duty like that... it reallyt angers me. Fictional or not.

I would recommend it too, Striker. I love Zayne. He reminds me a lot of young Luke.
Ah, an excellent recommendation, then! I'll have to find volume one, then.

They did have potential! I wish they also would have done a similar series for Ben.
Well... one where Ben wakes up from that horrid nightmare of the NJO, then goes out with his sister, brother and friends on Yavin IV and learns from Dad and Mom.

After how long, you'd think people would finally go Sith=bad. But nooooo....

You WOULD think so, wouldn't you???

To quote Scotty, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!"

Nobody145:
I highly recommend the KotOR comics, its my favorite corner of the EU right now, with Luke's era constantly getting worse and Legacy's Cade still not being that likable. I don't like the KotoR games with how "all-powerful" their Revan and Jedi Mary Sue, er, Jedi Exile characters are supposed to be, but Zayne more than makes up for it. Not to mention The Gryph (yes, I capitlized the T, that Snivvian is that fun)!
Okay. Although I don't have a problem with the old Orders having more powerful characters. It's always been my view that the Jedi and Sith lost a metric ton of knowledge with the ensuing wars. Heck, the Sith had to start over after Rusaan. And the Rule of Two never seemed like it was that good an idea, power-wise. And yes, Palps took over... with the clones, and the Jedi basically neutering themselves with the Reformations.

Yeah, Calixte is playing a very dangerous game. Then again, when are Imperial politics not dangerous?
After the Accords but before the Vong invaded?

Though I always thought the reason the Borg never attacked the Federation in force was that it was still somewhat busy subjugating the Delta Quadrant? There did seem to be many advanced species in the Delta Quadrant (Voyager encountered quite a few), who could probably put up a fight against even the Borg.
Yeah. The Voth, the aliens with the Dauntless. Hmm, maybe they're so powerful because of the Borg?

And just maybe, in the grand scheme of things, on a galactic scale, the Federation simply wasn't that important, not more important enough other than to send a cube every few years. I still love how during the original Best of Both Worlds episodes, at one point Guinan and Picard were discussing what if this was the end of human civilization and Guinan reminded Picard of how... humans were just one species among many.
Most people forget that the Federation, at least according to the semi-canon Star Charts, has only a bit over 10,000 star systems under its control. That's not just members, either. Yeah, it's a big fish in a puddle, basically.

Though Scorpion also ended introducing Seven of Nine and that was the worst thing to ever happen to Star Trek, in my opinion.
No... that would be a tie between Spock's Brain, The Way to Eden and Star Trek V. wink

MasterSkywalker86:
I rather enjoy the the pink girl in the bikini....gotta thank Marvel for zeltrons.
And DH for remembering they existed. wink

I'm just sick of getting wontan multimedia projects set in that time period while the classic/post ROTJ era is kicked to the curb. ...sigh..
Over-saturated, basically.

yup, just as how DNT foreshadowed another skywalker falling to the DS, it seems rather redundant after the prequels arrived.
It was redundant and insulting to our intelligence, and to the characters too.

Well, I'm not sure I'm going to read Millennium Falcon. It sounds VERY boring. And of course, things sound bad for Luke again. sad

FotJ sounds even worse, if that's possible. Everyone says it sounds so great, but to me, it's same old, same old. And it looks like they'll be continuing the horrible Luke characterizations. sad

Jedi Ben Re: Nat, blokes put on weight as they get older, despite their best efforts! I'm just waiting for a mate to hit 30 and expand sideways because he's a gannet!

Look at how fit Luke has been even through his fifties. Nat Skywalker surely doesn't have the physique of a Jedi knight.

The Nomi book is a must-buy for me, as for the other, it's not clear when it's set but there is a link of some sort to the Great Hyperspace War.

I'll probably get the Nomi book too. The Great Hyperspace War book doesn't sound as interesting.

I would have thought it would be a bad business decision too, and reading comments of people after Invincible came out, it seemed like no one wanted to buy Star Wars books anymore, even paperbacks. But now I'm reading all of these positive comments about MF and about FotJ, so how knows? I know that those books don't sound very interesting to me!

So to see someone shirking their duty like that... it reallyt angers me. Fictional or not.

I don't like it either.

COW,

Right now, we don't know enough about the GHW book, could be good, could be bad.

RK,

Furman did bring the saga to a good conclusion, rushed though it was, but I've still dropped the titles. Will buy in TPB form instead, as at $4 a pop, that is a noticeable extra.

As for Destiny, I think you'll like it.

On other comics, for those who are interested:

Superman has once again lost his adopted father, Jonathan Kent, yet it was a well done and poignant scene that does tap an aspect of Superman people forget, his falliability. There's a wonderful All Star Superman story by Grant Morrison that has Superman spending some time with his father before he dies of a heart attack due to time travel. So Superman watches his younger self save Smallville from a hurricane, but loses his father, but now, later, gets to spend some time with him. It sounds convoluted but Morrison tells it in such a way that it delivers a real emotional punch. Back in the main line, Superman is no longer the only Kryptonian on Earth, not by far....

The Green Lantern titles are gearing up for Blackest Night and it's very satisfying to see a well-woven tapestry take shape.

Gail Simone continues to do wonders with Wonder Woman, this time tackling all manner of notions of identity with a very sharp edge of humour.

MasterSkywalker86 , I don't THINK I've responded to this message of yours yet.

too many new kids now on the lit boards...which is good but I feel more at home here.

But I miss you and the other regular SOS people in Lit. Even Ben, Nobody, and Striker only show up occasionally. I MISS all of you there!

so anyone have some suggestions on what to follow for Luke stories now adays ?

Not really, unless you go back and reread some of the golden oldies like TTT, Truce at Bakura, and Courtship of Princess Leia. You might want to try to find some of the old Marvel stories too, except that they took place a long time ago. There isn't much that's good that involves Jedi Master Luke. sad

You might want to try to browse through that Luke omnibus, but it's really expensive.

anything post ROTJ with a jedi master Luke after the Bantam years would be golden right about now....

Wouldn't it, though? There hasn't been much about Luke as a Jedi Master that's pleasant to read, unfortunately. sad

in fact i might be as desperate to read Invincible of course after I finish my copy of VOTF.

While I really DIDN't like the book, and hated the idea that Luke couldn't go after Jacen because he was "Tainted" by his killing of Lumiya, (which, of course, means Lumiya won), Luke did do some rather amazing things Force-wise in the book.

but it would be nice if there were comics focusing on Luke and co post NJO or prior.

It would be nice if they had decent adventure stories focusing on Luke post NJO. And I really wish that the television series would have been about Luke and the Jedi Order on missions throughout the galaxy, instead of being about Anakin Skywalker and the CLone wars. We have been inundated with Clone Wars junk, and I could CARE LESS about it.

wut do you mean ? exactly how's MF suppose to end things ?

I have no idea, but I'm not pleased about the spoilers. It looks like Luke has almost no role at all in MF, and what little he has isn't good. sad

nah it seem rather kid orientated and it still doesn't feature what I want in a series. I mean would it be so hard to ask have a Luke in a tv series ?

I'm with YOU, MS!

I'm just sick of getting wontan multimedia projects set in that time period while the classic/post ROTJ era is kicked to the curb. ...sigh..

My sentiments exactly!

true, but to be honest in the end it's all crap

LOL! And I can't really disagree with you. wink

what's his reasoning for leaving the jedi ?

I don't think we really know for sure. I think he doesn't think he's good enough or something like that.

I don't think the majority of sw fans are.

Then why do they keep giving us Clone Wars stuff? I dont' know why they don't do a multimedia project in the future period or in post LotF period.

it all about the green, sigh it would be great if they listen to older fans for some complaints. I am curious at seeing Luke and son going on a journey though.

I would have LOVED it, if it didn't seem like this journey was forced upon them, and if it didn't involve following in Jacen's footsteps.

true, but I like trouble...sometimes.

LOL!

true, but Mara doesn't know that. plus it's more of a full flesh opinion,

Well, I hated having her "Lecturing" Luke. How is she more of an expert than Luke in Force and Jedi matters?

Joser seems to be using those Fallanassi tricks too!
it happens to us college kids.

I suppose it does! wink

It's also tainted by following the LOTF. Two strikes right there against it. plain Unless it's revealed the entire post-YJK series have all been bad dreams brought on by bad Ithorian takeout, count me OUT!

COW,

This sounds pretty good. Is this a one issue story?

* Morrison did 12 issues of All Star Superman, with the exception of 7-8 and 11-12, they are all complete stories that deal with aspects of Superman. The final issue is a wonderful piece of work. The first 6 issues are collected in hardback, no idea when the paperback is due but I'll be telling everyone here to buy it when it does.

Back in the main line, Superman is no longer the only Kryptonian on Earth, not by far....

WHOA!! That's intriguing!!!! Where have they been all this time and how did they get to Earth??

* Do you know the Superman villain Brainiac? No? Well, to cut a long story short Superman has fought him numerous times, turns out all the Brainiacs he has fought have been probes. The real one has been going round the galaxy collecting samples of culture - entire cities shrunk to microscale - then destroying the planets they are from. He comes to Earth, is fought by both Superman and Supergirl. He miniaturises Metropolis and after defeating Brainiac, Superman grabs both cities. He returns Metropolis to its right place and takes the Kryptonian city and it's 100,000 inhabitants to the North Pole, where the city is now.

* This is the first act of a much larger story but is amazing, the final battle between Brainiac and Superman is inspired. You'd love it, but it'll be a while before it comes out in TPB.

RK,

Four bucks a comic??! Holy kriff!

* It's becoming more and more common too.

Although... if you're buying the TPBs, wouldn't you still be following them?

* Yeah, it's only dropped in terms of monthly issues.

As for Destiny, I think you'll like it.
Tomorrow or Friday, I can get it.

* Enjoy.

* Well, he did get to be raised by his parents.

I think I've figured out the problem with my long posts. Apparently putting in too much formatting stuff (in my case, italics) in one paragraph causes the boards to time out whenever I submit my post. Which explains why cutting my post up into lots of small paragraphs seem to fix the problem.

JB-
I assume when the Caeliar ended up contacting something... bad (considering the feedback pulse blew up their own sun!), that it'll either be followed up in the next books, considering the Titan crew has caught up and made contact with them, not to mention Hernadez has lived with them for a few centuries by now. Or maybe it'll turn into the next big threat the TNG-era has to deal with, who knows.

By the way, has anyone else heard about a new Star Trek comic? I hear its supposed to be the prequel to the upcoming Star Trek movie, so I'm somewhat interested.

And yeah, the Green Lantern titles are great right now. Over in Corps, the idea of Guy on a diplomatic mission... oh boy. I just hope the scarred Guardian isn't the only Guardian along, or else things will definitely go bad. And too bad Guy and Ice sorta are stil on the rocks a bit, but oh well, its Guy. Although that pregnant Lantern is just a disaster waiting to happen, I can tell already.

CoW
I actually like Nat a lot, in that he looks... normal. He was a Jedi, once, but he's left, though apparently still is on decent terms with them, and he still held his own against another Force-user. True, its odd to see a Skywalker like that, but I still like him more than Cade. Now, he's just a normal person, a fringe mechanic, so he looks the part at least. At least he's berated Cade for his choices and still hasn't done anything remotely dark, unlike most of the other currently living Skywalkers we know of.

And I try to pop in on the Lit SOS Skywalker thread occasionally, its just that... the population of the board has already pretty much covered every facet of Luke we can think of, and so we're going in circles. Even with new stuff that comes out occasionally (novels, comics, etc.) there's still only so much to talk about. And it gets annoying when certain stubborn board people enter the thread, and just won't admit to anything. Not saying their opinion is wrong, but... well, talking to a brick wall gets tiring and frustating after a while.

Yeah, my own personal canon stops at VotF actually. Not entirely sure where YJK fits before or after that, but in terms of big novels, that was the last novel I loved.

Though I wonder if its also just a cultural-society shift too, maybe. While I agree may 90s' shows by current conventions look outdated, these day, most of the big shows seem to be about... well, dark stories at least. BSG, Heroes, etc., I'm not asking for a happy-happy story, but at best with those kind of stories, at worst I hate most of the cast (in BSG's case), or am just not interested in the ridiculously convoluted plot (Heroes). I still like Lost, but not much else on TV. Well, Lost and the new Terminator TV series. Though Eli Stone has also caught my eye, funny enough (watched most of the first season and the second season just started).

Ah, so the Morrigan-Cade thing strikes a personal chord? Its not like I like her, (aside from Kol, this era of Skywalkers hasn't been that stellar, but at least that means more time for other characters), just that she's probably going to be one of the most important characters in the future of the galaxy.

And honestly, I don't care much for them killing Jonathan Kent. The idea of killing Superman's father has gotten a bit old by now, since they killed him on Smallville, Morrison killed him in All-star Superman (and I still love that series), and... well, the Brainiac arc was a good story, I'm just not a big Superman fan, I prefer Batman more.

On the KotOR subject, four TPBs are out now, and I suggest you read all of them, they're some of the best Star Wars stories in years. The art goes up and down, but the story is always consistently good.

I think its possible for powerful, possibly very powerful alien species to develop in the Delta Quadrant. The Borg are powerful, but its likely that they spend a while completely assimilating a world then moving onto the next one. Not to mention if the Borg ever hit the Gamma Quadrant, the Dominion would likely give them a very tough fight. And I still say Seven of Nine is the worst thing in Star Trek ever. At least things like Spock's Brain and Star Trek V (which had occasional funny moments) only lasted a few hours. Seven of Nine basically took over the series and even in the novels, she's probably the Voyager character who appears the most (though that also relates to how often the Borg have been used recently, so of course Seven of Nine would be involved).

I do agree with the oversaturation of stories in certain periods. The Clone Wars era is the one that's suffering from it the most at the moment, what with how there was a lot of Clone Wars EU stuff going on in between Episodes II and III, and then now most or all of that has been pushed into six months instead of three years. And I guess nobody bothers to do anything in the post-RotJ period because... well, probably not enough wars for anybody's taste. Between the trilogies, we just got TFU and that was tragic (although I do have to admit the darkside ending was awesome), same with the Clone Wars period, and now we've got the LotF/FotJ which is just a waste (and an insult to our intelligence, yeah).

And I've already read MF myself, and it wasn't bad. Partially because it wasn't another big book epic. From what I've heard of FotJ though... well, I'm bracing myself for another few years of Star Wars misery. Good thing I haven't bought a new Star Wars book in almost over a year.

To anybody in general-
And I do still recommend the new Clone Wars cartoon. Only four episodes so far, but still some of the better stories in recent times. Anakin's likable, less brooding, and lots of nice action. I still wish for a post-RotJ series, or at least something that's set past ESB, but at least the cartoon series is better than the prequels.

DC continuity is hopelessly convoluted and spans many multiple versions. Don't ask me to explain though - I ain't that good on DC! happy

Nobody,

I assume when the Caeliar ended up contacting something... bad (considering the feedback pulse blew up their own sun!), that it'll either be followed up in the next books, considering the Titan crew has caught up and made contact with them, not to mention Hernadez has lived with them for a few centuries by now. Or maybe it'll turn into the next big threat the TNG-era has to deal with, who knows.

* Well there's 4 books set to deal with the fallout of Destiny....

By the way, has anyone else heard about a new Star Trek comic? I hear its supposed to be the prequel to the upcoming Star Trek movie, so I'm somewhat interested.

* Take a look at the IDW solicits for Jan that have recently been released, think the details are there - the series focuses on the villain Romulan, Nero.

* Pregnant lantern? Have to check that bit. Oh, by the by, Newsarama has a preview of Rage of the Red Lanterns that really justifies the Secret Origin arc.

BSG, Heroes, etc., I'm not asking for a happy-happy story, but at best with those kind of stories, at worst I hate most of the cast (in BSG's case), or am just not interested in the ridiculously convoluted plot (Heroes).

* Heroes I'm too familar with the source material so what is radical to a non-comics watcher isn't so to me. BSG is an odd one because I find most of the characters infuriating, though I do like Adama, but the plot makes up for it and some of the battles are wonderfully brutal. Nonetheless, if they don't pull off a satisfying finale it'll wreck the entire series - but the line they're pursuing is promising.

* Well Batman is going to change greatly in the wake of Batman RIP - the final part of wihich will make or break it.

* Striker, heed this counsel and buy 'em. It's a SW story that draws on all 6 films properly. You'll read 'em and wonder why others aren't doing the same.

* Which kills my interest in it and I loved the first set of CW stories.

Jedi Ben:
Buy yourself a BI-IG present!

You can't do that on 29 or 31, nor 32!

LOL, I ordered some Transformers online. Some really nice ones, like encore Metroplex and armor for my Classics Ultra Magnus.

And I just had the freakiest thought: Metroplex on COruscant. Don't ask me where, it just... came to me.

DC continuity is hopelessly convoluted and spans many multiple versions. Don't ask me to explain though - I ain't that good on DC!
Who is? wink

LOL, I shall!

JediMatteus:
i might be insane but i love the new directions del rey is taking with these up and coming novels. sounds good to me.
Welcome... and I disagree. He's been portrayed as weak and too straying to the Dark Side.

i would like some consitency with luke. you cant just write whatever you want and put the name luke by it and it be luke.
You mean like Del Rey's been doing since VP?

Nobody145:

Well, without the YJK, there's a 100% chance I wouldn't be a SW fan. And a 5-6% chance I would've succumbed to the depression I was going through and killed myself.

And not, that last statement is not a joke.

Though I wonder if its also just a cultural-society shift too, maybe. While I agree may 90s' shows by current conventions look outdated, these day, most of the big shows seem to be about... well, dark stories at least. I don't watch much TV nowadays, beyond boxed sets of old favorites.

Ah, so the Morrigan-Cade thing strikes a personal chord? Its not like I like her, (aside from Kol, this era of Skywalkers hasn't been that stellar, but at least that means more time for other characters), just that she's probably going to be one of the most important characters in the future of the galaxy.
Ayup, it does. Another personal thing for me. My own biological father made sure to be there for me as much as he could, despite divocring my mother in 1981. He made me the man I am today... well, was a contributing factor. In a good way, too.

So seeing Morrigan abandon Cade like that cheeses me off something fierce.

On the KotOR subject, four TPBs are out now, and I suggest you read all of them, they're some of the best Star Wars stories in years. The art goes up and down, but the story is always consistently good.
I'll keep my eyes out for volume one, or order it online.

I think its possible for powerful, possibly very powerful alien species to develop in the Delta Quadrant.
It's might be a response to the Borg threat. Advance or be assimilated.

The Borg are powerful, but its likely that they spend a while completely assimilating a world then moving onto the next one. Not to mention if the Borg ever hit the Gamma Quadrant, the Dominion would likely give them a very tough fight.
Yeah, but in the end... I think the Dominion would fall.

LOL, I just watched 'Spock's Brain' and it was horrid! Although you have a good point about SB being an isolated bad thing while Seven is an ongoing bad thing. Ah, how I'd love Kira Nerys or Uhura to vaporize her!

And I've already read MF myself, and it wasn't bad. Partially because it wasn't another big book epic. From what I've heard of FotJ though... well, I'm bracing myself for another few years of Star Wars misery. Good thing I haven't bought a new Star Wars book in almost over a year.
Last time I bought a SW anything that wasn't an essential guide, action figure or Legacy comic was 'The Unseen Queen'. I read that book, put it down and said, "I'm done."
