The only reason I can think of for Mara to be that high is Sacrifice. Kyp, I have no clue.

10. Nom Anor: Nice to see the galaxies favorite Vong in the top ten. Oh, yeah.....Nom Anor isn't dead...
9. Cade Skywalker: Does anyone else find Cade boring?
8. Jag Fel: The most overrated character in EU history . How does he finish a head of Jaina when he's just her puppy dog.
7. Revan: I dunno if a great game moment makes for a great character.
6. Kyp Durron: Glad Kyp made the top ten, but he's really done nothing but brush his hair since early NJO. Kyp was the fandoms best hope for a powerful non-Skysolo Jedi in Lukes generation. He is probably still the best hope for that as well.
5. Darth Caedus: I wonder how this would have worked out if we had Caedus and Jacen as two different characters. Could have been higher.
4. Corran: Glad Corran made the top ten, guess he's been helping Kyp with his hair since NJO.
3. Mara Jade: No surprise here. She's not one of my favorites but is loved by many none the less.
2. Thrawn: Right where I thought he'd be. Father of the Imperial Renaissance and probably my favorite villian ever. Really, considering we only have four books and a short story or two fleshing him out I think Thrawns ranking is amazing. A testimate to Zahn's skill at bringing the character to life.
1. Anakin Solo: Weepy eyes and bleeding hearts go a long way and they have with Anakin Solo. Personally doesn't rank that high for me. In terms of being a hero he was mediocre, but had heart. His love story with Tahiri was short, and not nearly as interesting or dynamic as Tenel Ka and Jacen. I've wondered often if the fandoms hatred of Jacen isn't tied to Anakins death somehow. Anyway no surprise that he's #1 in the hearts of many.

That's amusing. Anakin was written to make the readers like him. He became the new Luke and then they destroyed it. People liked Anakin before his death. The death just made it worse as we all lost something we started to believe in.
I found it amusing that you had to have died to be in the top 3. Also, notice the numbering Corran and Jacen tied in 4th (much to my dismay).

Sorry if this sounds like I'm saying 'you're wrong shut up!' because that's not what I'm trying to say. But I'm pretty sure Anakin was a lot of people's favorite character before he died. We didn't like him because he died, but because of what he did during his short life and, if he hadn't died, what he might have been able to do. And no, I don't love to mourn him and I'm sure no one else who loved the character does either.

Untrue. Jag is a great character who doesn't need to be Jaina's boyfriend in order to exist. He's evolved on his own to become an intersteing and fairly complex character. From his dog-fighting days with the Chiss and the Vong to his conflicted actions in the Swarm War to his fall from the Ascendancy to become a bounty-hunter, Jag's life has had almost as many twists and turns as Han Solo's.
