Pre-Saga dating system?

Alright. I really didn't know where to post this... If I put it in the wrong section, please forgive me!
I was wondering... What was the dating system in the Star Wars universe? For instance, today would be Febuary 6, 2008 A.D. But what would it be in the world of Star Wars? If anyone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

1977 would be the BY(Battle of Yavin) and 1978 would be 1 ABY so this year would be 31 ABY. 1940 would be 37BBY .The months and days would depend on the individual planets. Back before the battle of Yavin took place, I'm not really sure how they figured the years though.

There were two dating systems under the Empire. The primary system is set from the Great Resynchronization--under this system, the Battle of Yavin took place at 35:3:12 (year:month:day). The notation is BrS and rS.
An alternative system was Empire Date, where the zero year is 19rS. The notation is PED and ED. This system was only seen in Heir to the Empire and was superceded when the timeline for the Clone Wars was moved up. Originally, the rS system was meant to refer to Empire Date but the Resynchronization term was a bit of a joke on the author's part to explain the change in timeline.
Prior to the Great Resynchronization, dates were reckoned from the Battle of Ruusan. Prior to Ruusan, dates were reckoned from the foundation of the Republic.

Ah! Thank you both! But, the thing that I really wanted to know (Sorry for being vague) Is this- before the clone wars, the battle of Yavin, and the Empire, what would the dating system be? Or was one never mentioned anywhere? Pre-saga.

Well I believe most people used eHarmony, but some of the back water planets used their own local versions.

Like I said, the Great Resynchronization was adopted at its zero date, which was adopted 13 years period to the start of the Clone Wars or 3 years prior to the Battle of Naboo.
Prior to that, the Ruusan dating system was used for a thousand years.
Prior to that, the Republic's foundation date was set as the year zero for 24,000 years.

I don't think we've ever actually been told this is the case, actually; the most I remember is Dan Wallace tossing it out there as a possibility in a blog entry.
