I read a Star Wars novel way back in early 90's and
I remember that there was a species of animal in it
that I think was called Voornksyyrs. (Spelling?)
Is that what they're called? I think they were pets
of the Noghri.
How they were describes basically made it sound like
they were like a Pitbull-type creature with a whip-like tail.
Does anyone know about this?

Meet the Vornskr. Talon Karrde kept them as pets (Thrawn Trilogy).

As far as I know they were Talon karrde's pets, they come from Myrkr...and are force sensetive.

The vornskrs are native to Myrkr and are Force sensitive, so they usually want to attack Force-users. That's why the Ysalamiri can project the Force-bubble, so the Vornskyrs have trouble hunting them. Karrde had two domesticated Vornskrs names Sturm and Drang.
There was something about the Yuuzhan Vong using them to hunt Jedi, but I don't know much about that.

Voxyn, to be exact. Nasty critters, they used Vornskrs as a genetic template to create them, made a hybrid with one of their own creatures.

Sith Alchemy creatures would fare horribly, due to the fact that Voxyn are intended to combat force related things...
