I haven't been over here in ages....I'm so bad.
I just wanted to stop by and say hi.
I saw that too about Aaron's new book and think that it will be Post LotF...in fact, I'm hoping that it is. I agree with almost everyone else, the title seems to point to it being about the split of the Jedi and hopefully J/J.
But you know I was thinking today about the new book coming out by Luceno. It really wouldn't surprise me if we all get cheated out of actually seeing Jag and Jaina's wedding. I have a feeling that their wedding will actually take place before that story which, IIRC, is set two years after the end of Lotf. It will be like "oh by the way, Jag and Jaina are married now." I could see DR doing that, simply because no one knows how to right a good SW romance. Let's face it, CoPL wasn't all that good and neiter was Chrystal Star. And who can forget Luke's totally unromantic proposal to Mara?
Does anyone else think this, or am I totally on spice?
~~~
Oh by the way, I have to comment about Obi having Jag as a waiter. I actually work with him too. Isn't that funny....
Yep...the clinic I work at has recently got a NCO for nursing who, save for the white streak, is a dead ringer for how I picture Jag. Not real tall, black hair and green eyes. But it wasn't until I saw him the other day in his class As that made me instantly think Jag. I don't know how I had missed it before.
It reminded of when I was getting this Air Force LT colonel ready for deployment to Iraq last summer who instantly reminded me of how I picture Tycho Celchu.
Okay...I'll go back to lurking now....
Hey Sara! Cool story about your Tycho patient.
But, are you saying you have to work with a clone of Jag? That would be distracting...
BTW - your story You Look Good in My Shirt is awesome. We need all the J/J romance and mush we can get
since they're not getting it right in the novels.
To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see their wedding. Weddings, unless they're interrupted by moronic terrorist plots, really don't make compelling reading (says the guy who wants to see Ackbar's funeral). It can happen, of course, but it needs to pay off a romantic plotline and you generally don't see the whole thing. However, I'd be rather surprised if we didn't see the romantic plotine itself and the payoff. People talk smack about DR, but for all the foot-dragging that's gone on with Jaina's romantic angle, I think any publisher would know better than to resolve it off-screen. You can marry second-string characters like Tycho and Winter offscreen when they're already dating. You can't marry the last living Solo offscreen, and you especially can't go from not-even-dating to married offscreen. I have incredible doubt that they'd go that route.
You have to be kidding? I thought I was the only person that felt denied because they did not write a scene for Ackbar's funeral.
But I am a little odd that way, I love weddings and good funerals. Speaking of funerals, it was a bit aggravating that they did not have some sort of "send off" for Jacen as well. I could understand no service but they could have maybe had some sort of closure, launching him out an air lock or whatever.
You make very good points Havac about why DR should have the Solo/Fel nuptials on screen. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hopefully it will happen. It would even be ok if it was all meshed in around them having to dash about saving the galaxy.
Your running around comment made me think of Lando. You know at some point that he sent in somewhere to get ordained for some con. They should totally get married by Lando. Or even better, by a Lando impersonator. On the Wheel.
Hope you guys are right about MF. I hope J/J have a wedding on screen. But I hope it's not like Han and Leia's were they show you the begining were Luke is late and then don't show you any more. And about Fate of the Jedi 1, I hope it's post-LOTF and a J/J story.
I think this week I am getting the third Legacy volume!
*joins Sara on her spice trip*
Yeah, DR isn't the most... emotive... of publishers, but they do have some author's in the stable who would be capable of it.
And Luceno would be one of them.
As for me... I'm hoping that MF opens with the Solo/Fel wedding. And that Han and Leia decide to go on their little jaunt to learn about the Falcon from there.
TOTALLY FANGIRLY ASIDE: And holy Force Sara, you work with a guy that looks like Jag Fel? *swoons* I'd never get any work done. I have a hard enough time concentrating around the surgical resident that looks like a grown up Anakin Solo.
He's got the bluest eyes....*sigh*
I had a SW meeting this week too. LOL Scary. I went to a friend's dance recital. Her and her mom own a dance studio and I go every year cause I like crap like that. Anyway, I hadn't met her fiance' yet and the joke was I had to approve of him before they could get married. First thoughts on meeting him: Obi Wan Kenobi. The Ewan McGregor version. They're both geeks so they found that highly amusing.
Well, Cyn, fortunately for Uncle Sam and probably for me, too, Jag the Army Sergeant works in the detachment office, which is no where close to my office. Or you're right, I probably wouldn't get much work done.
I hope Havac is right and they do show us at least something of how J/J end up together. I'd feel cheated otherwise, in a way, but then I'd be happy, too, that they are finally together and no own can dispute it.
