Phanan just needs to be a tad bit more giddy and I would readily accept him for the Doctor.
I see him with one close 'companion', actually. Kind of like Nine/Rose. Phanan really wanted a female to love him, I think--not a whole bunch of partners.
Face could be... Ah... Hmmm. I'll have to think about that.
