Spoilers punishable by airlock...
Funny you should write that.
Hmmm...let tonight's episode (April 18, 2008) be a lesson to me.
Funny how some things just connect ain't it?
P.S.
During tonight's episode I do believe I heard a !SQUEEE! from the general direction of the UE campus. Am I right JediRavenClaw?
P.S. II - The Sequel
Did you catch the Trek in-joke in tonight's episode? Edric still with us? I'm sure you noticed.

OK the Trek in-joke is as follows-
The four 'final five' Cylons on the Galactica are holding secret meetings in a particular room. The airlock door to this room has 1701D stenciled onto it. Attention was deliberately called to this airlock door and the 1701D in several shots of the airlock door being opened and closed. Just in case some viewers missed it. Of course in the case of Stacky he just did not get it - no matter how many shots were on display or how long the camera lingered on the nearly centered 1701D. Remember Stacky not to forget to see the forest despite the trees. Or would that be forget not to see the trees for the forest? Oh never mind. Trek is just not that important anymore. Moving on.

So I'm rewatching series 1, and it's "Acts of Contrition".
The cold open of this episode is Flat Top's 1000th landing, which is rudely interrupted by a falling torpedo, which ignites and explodes Flat Top and his mates as they spin him in a wagon.
I read somewhere that this scene was added after Skiffy/SkyOne/Universal requested they brighten up a few episodes, like "maybe a birthday party?" The response, a party punctuated by bodily penetration and explosion, I feel sets the tone for the ENTIRE SERIES better than anything else in the world
This further reminds me of complaints I've heard regarding how the reimagining is too dark, especially compared to the original series, which was - no bones about it - camp.
Such complaints, made well after this episode aired everywhere, provokes me to use a DVD set to beat the crap out of such complainers, all the while screaming "YOU STUPID FRAKKING ARSE, PAY A-FRAKKING-TENTION AND YOU WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED BY THE DARK FRAKKING TONE! SHARTHEAD!"
Just had to get that off my chest

Yeah that Six-as-Ellen is a sure fire mind-frak. But then if I'm right about a revised Iblis entity at work then these mind-fraks really should not be a surprise. What I think is a surprise is how cruel the mind-fraks are becoming. As was said back in season three - 'something dark is coming'. The mind-frak from Tyrol's perspective at the bar with the Admiral was more disturbing than the Six-as-Ellen. I have to wonder if the 'Final Four of Five' can see through 'social masks' that people wear in the company of co-workers? Something perhaps in their 'wiring' that allows them to see thru the felgercarb. On the other hand (and more likely from this being the last season) we are seeing the revised Iblis becoming a bit less subtle. More pronounced. Anyhow when Tyrol describes his dead wife in harsh terms I can not help but think about Kubrick's version of The Shining. Tyrol is coming unhinged and is in the process of 'unmasking' not unlike how Jack Torrance became unhinged. Granted Wendy from Kubrick's The Shining and Cally do resemble one another, but it's more than that. The parallel is a three member family falling apart because the father degenerates into madness. Starbuck too is showing her madness. She's back from the dead with a Captain Ahab-like obssession. Shades of Das Boot are certainly creeping into the search for Earth by the 'good' ship Demetrius.

Demetrius -
Saint Demetrius of Thessaloniki, "The Megalomartyr", 3rd century: St. Demetrius was initially depicted in icons and mosaics as a young man in patterned robes with the distinctive tablion of the senatorial class across his chest. Miraculous military interventions were attributed to him during several attacks on Thessaloniki, and he gradually became thought of as a soldier: a Constantinopolitan ivory of the late 10th century shows him as an infantry soldier
Demetrius I Poliorcetes (of Macedon)Among his outrages was his courtship of a young boy named Democles the Handsome. The youth kept on refusing his attention but one day found himself cornered at the baths. Having no way out and being unable to physically resist his suitor, he took the lid off the hot water cauldron and jumped in. His death is seen as a mark of honor for himself and his country.
Demetrius I Soter (of Syria - a Selucid):Demetrius acquired his surname of Soter, or Saviour, from the Babylonians, whom he delivered from the tyranny of the Median satrap, Timarchus. Demetrius is famous in Jewish history for his victory over the Maccabees.
ummm...bunch of Macedonian kings plus a few Selucids (India - Persia - Syria) and a few philosophers whom I have never heard of. Including one Epicurean.
Dunno Kesh...fit in anywhere?
...Course, I particularly like the Selucids. They were a good bunch of kings ^_^

In regards to BG prequel titled Caprica...
Remember that Star Wars: Episode 1 poster with a very young Anakin casting a Vader-shaped shadow behind him? Well for Battlestar's prequel titled Caprica a teaser poster might soon be circulating the net. Replace Anakin with a very young Bill Adama casting a Cylon centurion-shaped shadow behinnd him. Nice bit of resonation at work if true. I'd put the SW:Episode 1 poster next to the Caprica poster. That way one can parallel/contrast the two exercises in the art of prequelization.

Well the website called TV Addict has read the Caprica teleplay. They were allowed to give the reader a snippet of dialogue from the hotly anticipated B-star-G prequel. Nothing spoilerish, but a nice emotional sequence between Joseph Adama/Adams and the nine-year old Billy Adama/Adams. Ready? Launch!
Caprica - Final Scene
JOSEPH:
"Our family will survive this, we're going to put our lives back together. Your mother is gone and Tamara is gone. They're NOT coming back."
(Suddenly, without warning, tears begin to stream down William's cheeks. Joseph takes his son in his arms and they hold each other tight as Joseph struggles with his own emotions.)
JOSEPH:
"I want you to know who you are, William. We come from a long, proud line of Tauron peasants who knew how to work the land and still stand proud. You're named after your grandfather, did I ever tell you that?"
WILLIAM:
"No."
JOSEPH:
"He was killed in the Tauron Uprising...fighting for what he believed was the right of all Children of Kobol...to live free. It's a good name William and you should wear it proudly. And our last name isn't Adams. I changed it when I arrived on Caprica."
(beat)
"Our family name is...ADAMA and it's a good, honorable Tauron name."
The End.
For those wondering what happened to Billy's mom and sister...all I'll say is fanatical monotheists and high-speed transit systems make for one huge frakkin mess.
