Fantastic job on Alphric Zahn! The entire composition is so nicely balanced and fun to look at. I think I prefer the 'light' version.

I also love in progress pics so thanks for sharing those. It's always so interesting to see how people work. happy

Kind of a work in progress - did the b/w design ages ago, rendering in colour turns out to be not so easy worried

The pics are from a camera rather than scanner, the scanner flattened out the image too much.

Oh, wow...

It looks like inscribed metal...all the burnished and patinaed surfaces...fantastic!! What an amazing interpretation--you have one of the most creative minds/imaginations in our forum, soits, and this new piece is more proof of that! applause How did you come up with the idea for this...? It's truly amazing, impressive and beautiful--and I totally agree that it's very much appropriate to the subject matter. Just wow...you do continue to amaze, my friend--I love this! applause And I can't decide which I like better, light or dark--they're both beautiful!

Very nice!!!

ShrunkenJedi, thank you. Your right about it looking very Byzantine, I was very influenced by religious icons. Hence the Sun halo.

FalconFan, thanks again for commenting on my thread. I had done some Greek myths pictures using the same style some time ago, and Star Wars has a mythic feel to it, too, so I thought it might work. I tend to be influenced a lot by comic-book style art, decorative ancient Egyptian art etc.

The picture is still not quite right. I need to sit and look at it for a while before I decide how to finish it properly.

Nidrail, thank you. It is flat, but it's made up of layers. I guess I would describe it as a collage. I used Aluminium foil for the metalic-looking parts, transparent plastic for the red bits of the Sun, and card or paper for the rest. It's held together with paperclips and masking tape. It was very difficult to line up the layers, I didn't plan things out as well as I might.

For those that are interested in the work-in-progress stuff, here's a few layers without background: White background

Here is the image scanned on a scanner. Disapointingly flat, plus the red looks pink.

Thank you Nidrail, morrison85, academygrad88.

Still haven't sorted out my Son of the Suns pic, only really updating for the sake of it.

Bellerophon and Pegasus 1

Bellerophon and Pegasus 2

Sketchbook cover

Sketchbook cover, different lighting

The sketchbook cover was done using a stencil, texture paste, spray-paint and acrylic ink, and I think it came out really well.

Oh, wow... They look like museum displays of ancient bas-relief panels--the textures, style and lighting are amazing! Both of them are gorgeous--I think I like the first one best--not entirely sure why, except that the almost opalescent tones across the stone cool the image just a touch, and are more reminiscent of stone... Just beautiful!! applause The sketchbook cover is also awesome--how long did that take you to finish, soits? With so much texture and detailing, it seems like it would take ages... I just can't get over the range of your talents and skills, and the expansiveness of your artistic vision--I'm awed and humbled! Amazing work!

applause applause
