Some lightsabers I had done recently.
At the moment I'm quite busy... I finished school and moved to university...
Because I have no scanner available at the moment, don't expect any drawings, just some computer-art...
So, the lightsabers:
the first one is Shaak Ti's second lightsaber (CWC II)
the second one is Sylvar's lightsaber (TOTJ: Redemption)
the third one is Ki-Adi-Mundi's second lightsaber (CWC I/II)
Enjoy!

Here's a new one. Nothing special, just some Images from the internet put together...
I've plans to make a picture for every single SSD, so there may be new stuff soon...

Dark_Guardian, good job! I can see and feel the progress in your work thus far. There's a marked difference between your first b/w linear piece and your latest full color rendition. Progress has been good to you!
My favourite piece for some reason, is the one with the lightsabers ( no surprise there). I especially like the middle one, since it's the most elaborate of the three. I would definately like to see what other lightsaber designs you come up with.
Your composition in 'Imperial-Class Datafile' is really succesful. Every element is well balanced and represented. The eye gravitates equally towards each element in the drawing. An exellent job, imho.
Keep up the progress and the good work,( and bring on them lightsaber designs! hehehe).

I love it when people take ships from movies and the like and give them names. It adds a whole new level of character to something that would otherwise just be a glorified prop. Nice touch adding the pseudo-schematics to it, as well.

Very nice compositions, Dark_Guardian--I especially like the inclusion of the schematics on "Razor's Kiss," and the apparent trickle of blood (?) from the blade at the right, pooling below the ship...eerie, and a good representation of what these superweapons were intended to do... I like these, with the overlay of images, but no loss of clarity in the composition--good job!

Thanks for all the comments.
greyjedi125:
I took the lightsber designs from the comics. I've tried to do some designs of my own, but none did satisfy me much. Maybe I'll post other adaption later.
FalconFan, wicktone:
When I compose the images for the SSD, I try to stay close to the history of the ship. The Razor's Kiss had a short-lifed destiny. It was stolen by Zsinj from Kuat while it was still under construction and destroyed by a NR-Fleet shortly afterwards.
Thats why I put the schematics in the picture, as well as the construction yards and the planet Kuat in the upper left: They stand for the contruction of the ship, which was the longest part of its life.
I included the razor and the blood, because when I think of a razor's kiss, I think it's verx bloody.
The explosions on the SSD stand also for its short life.
Ah, and here is another picture:
The fall of the Knight Hammer
(Darksaber)
After the destruction of the ship's engine system, the mighty star destroyer crashes into Yavin's atmosphere.

Oh, beautiful D_G!! I love this interpretation, with the cataclysmic passage of such a huge vessel through atmosphere, generating horrific discharges of lightning and causing the sky to "boil..." Stunning! I especially like the flares of superheated debris streaming from the hull--very realistic-looking, and on that note, just one suggestion: the nose of the vessel would actually be much in the same condition, due to the heat of re-entry: aglow with molten and disintegrating materials and streaming such. I think that would add to the realism of the image, but in truth it's pretty dramatic and awesome just as it is now. Fantastic rendering of a very dramatic written scene! Well done!

That's a really striking image. Very bold use of the colour red, but it works. It's unusual for me to find much feeling in a spaceship pic, but this one is kind of sinister and almost disturbing. Well done.

Say, those are all really nice Dark Guardian! I always admire those artists who seem to be able to draw vehicles from every conceivable angle with apparent effortlessness. "The Fall of the Knight Hammer" is especially impressive!

Thanks for the comments.
"The Fall of the Knight Hammer" was a fast composition I did shortly before i went on holiday, but it turned out well. When I read the book for the first time, I imagined the scene to be like this. Maybe not from this camera angle, but its hard to find pictures of an SSD from an angle you'd like to have. But like I said, it turned out well. I like it. But mabe you're right, FF, I should add some heat glowing. Maybe later. I'm currently working on some other pictures: the Intimidator/Pride of Yevetha, a new version of Battle of Praestylin and two clone commando pictures...
Like I said in a previous post, I never liked the picture of the Guardian...
So here's version 2: SSD Guardian
I really like it now.

Ah, another wonderful composition, Dark_Guardian! I like the use of black-and-white here--it's very effective. This looks almost like a commemorative print/plaque, presented at the ship's first launch--a very interesting font here (although it's a bit difficult to read...), and I'm curious as to where you got the images of the builders/species and the standard between them: are these your own invention, and if so, well, well done!
And on the "Revenge of the Force Zombies:" Yeah, that would've been sweet, to have a nice "backlash" concerning Order 66!

Thanks.
The black/white is effective, yes, but also very necessary: The Starcluster in the background, for example, is a compusition of many different stars/nebulas/cluster-pictures, all in different colours. So, to let them look like one, they must be in one colour. Black and white lokks good for me in this picture (Also in the Lusankya one), but as seen in SSD Guardian yellow-gold can also look very good.
FalconFan posted: -a very interesting font here (although it's a bit difficult to read...),
It is, but it fits to the ship's name, IMO. I try to find the best one for every SSD.
FalconFan posted: and I'm curious as to where you got the images of the builders/species and the standard between them: are these your own invention, and if so, well, well done!
Well, I haven't done these by myself, just the composition: the two guys are General Ethan A'bath (left) from Cracken's Threat Dossier and Viceroy Nil Spaar (right) from The Essential Chronology.
As for the standart: Google is such a wonderful thing: type in sword and look for the one that looks just simly cool/awesome. Same with the imperial seal. Then put them together and put a Banner with "Black Sword Command" on them. Ready.
Like mentioned in a previous post, every component of the picture has a meaning/is a symbol in the ship's history:
The Koornacht-Starcluster
Ethan A'bath and Nil Spaar
The "Black Sword Command"
The Flames
-BTW, the next pictures will be "SSD Whelm" and/or "SSD Reaper"
