Yeah, it's kind of obvious, huh? Ah well. There's just something that I find amusing about misspelled planet names...

Love your title there HanSolo! Such fun!
It's a little weird being an Australian right now...we really don't celebrate Halloween at all. I just don't understand the pumpkin thing! :P The Banner looks great though, and I love the shade of red for the boards...what fun!

On All Hallow's Eve in medievil times the commoners would set out pumpkins carved with scary faces to 1) fool the spirits into thinking they were already adequately haunted or 2) scare them away. I honestly don't remember which one.
I don't generally do Halloween either, but I wanted a sock and this seemed the time to do it.

*Pops into thread*
Hi! I'm a newbie in this forum, other than posting a few compliments here and there in people's threads I currently don't have any SW fanart to show off but I have loved coming over here and browsing everyone's threads for inspiration and ideas.
I'm hoping in the next 2-3 weeks to get myself a new computer. I downloaded a free art program called ArtRage that I've been having a lot of fun playing with, but I find that it's somewhat limited (can't manipulate brush strokes or decrease the size of the brushstrokes beyond their smallest settings etc,) so I'm hoping to pick up Corel Drawer IX and some other art programs so I can really jump into computer art
I've been itching to make covers for some of my fanfic stories, so I'll probably start there.
I'm thinking of getting Corel Drawer IX, Poser 6, and Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator - not all at once mind you, I'm not made of moola
Does anyone have suggestions of other programs/books/reference guides that might be helpful? I know there's a thread that lists out the tutorials here that I'll be certain to check out - but I was mostly looking for advice from actual users.

I really liked this book: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0060724331/qid=1131064297/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-4780806-0413649?v=glance&s=books&n=507846
It may not be a step by step guide to how to do something, but it tells you what you can do with various programs with a quick explaination. But that is the most important thing--Knowing something can be done. There is some beautiful art in this book and it tells what programs were used and some basic steps to achieve these results. This book was worth the money in my opinion.
If you do buy Poser 6, check out: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1592005233/qid=1131064523/sr=2-2/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_2/002-4780806-0413649?v=glance&s=books
Of course, if you have any questions about Poser 6 let me know. I am fairly new to the program, but I might be able to answer basic questions.

I saw that first book when I went onto Amazon to check for prices on Poser 6 last night, good to hear that it's a great for reference, I'll be sure to pick it up!
And don't worry about me asking questions about Poser 6, I'll gladly take you up on that offer

Kenu!! Where have you been hiding? We missed you, and your outstanding contributions to the forum!
If the new banner tickles your fancy, you should have seen all the fantastic entries everyone created for it--one of my all-time favorites was by soitscometothis that used your "Bananas!" piece...outstanding! Take a look here to see soits' banner, and here to have a look at all the entries (it was a great time!)!
Will we be seeing anything new in your thread soon? I have to say, I'm always delighted to see clever and entertaining art, and your talent seems to embrace both those qualities! Welcome back!

I think FalconFan about covered everything! With that said, welcome back, Kenu! It's great to have you around again!
Now moving onto some technical issues...
Is anyone else having problems getting the main index link to work from Fan Art? When I say main index, I mean the link labeled "Jedi Council Forums." Whenever I click on it, it brings me to a "page cannont be displayed" error. This error occurred on my home computer and the computers at school. So, I'm suspecting it's not my connection.

Yeah, Han, I'm experiencing the same thing. The "drop-down" menus at the top and bottom of the page (with the "GO!" buttons...) seem to be working alright, but the link to the Jedi Council Forums isn't... ??
I never know if it's me, or some sort of system problem! It'll probably work itself out in a day or so--these "glitches" usually do!
BTW--how's school coming along? Up to your nostrils with homework/hand-in artwork? Hope you're getting a few minutes here and there to just draw for fun!

I figured I wasn't the only one. I thought it would work itself out in a few days as well too, but I first discovered the glitch on Monday. I reported it to the MS, but they haven't done anything about it yet. It's at the point where it's just annoying.
As for school, yup, I'm buried pretty deep in work at the moment. I have a 5 page paper due this week along with two regular art projects, so as long as I can get through this week, I'll be fine. Then hopefully I can get back to some of my own drawing.
