Wow, I'm finally in my last week of school and I'm in the process of putting together my professional portfolio. I'm scared and really excited at the same time. This means that I have one more semester to go before I officially become a professional illustrator!

As I said, I'm really excited to be done with school and be out there on my own, but then at the same time, I'm really scared. I just hope I'll be able to find jobs and support myself. But I guess that's every student's fear upon graduating from college. Oh well, it's the holiday season and I'll just focus on that for right now.

hello there,
long time lurker,first time poster...kind of.
the point i was trying to make,is that technical pens and mechanical pencils are good and well,but it's all about the art,and whatever you use that makes a mark on the page is good.
don't over rely in the tool,i use cheap pencils to draw,cos it's the drawing that's important... i used to fuss over fancy pens and whatnot,but my then-hero simon bisley revealed that he drew his first,and in my opinion best,comic book series,abc warriors,with cheap black bic biros... cheap,like 25p! and that is some amazing artwork.
that said i am a sucker for daler rowney 150gsm acid free cartridge paper,hardbound sketching pads,available in a4 and a3.
they are simply beauty personified.

I've been using crayola colored pencils :B
The inking pens I have are usually hand-out ballpoints or uniball .5's. They've been working fine for me.

The pencils I use are just cheap pencils. I now have a disposable 0.7mm mechanical pencil and I just inked an outline with a Sharpie Mini. I only go for mechanical pencils as sharpening normal pencils is a pain and I'm lazy.

It's been really cold all week in my neck of the woods. I'm ready for it to warm up a bit.
Other than that, I just had a typical week of classes. Nothing too tiring yet, but it's only a matter of time before I get swamped once again.
