No, I never figured out the hair room. I have been drawing the hair by hand using Corel Painter IX. I sorta figured out the face room. That last Taming the Jedi pic I made up was done by poser including Luke's face. I thought he resembled the Jedi a bit. happy

I would appreciate any help you can give me in the various rooms.

I could have sworn I saw some stuff of your "works in progress" with hair growth follicles in it..hmmm. Well, I couldn't figure out jack in those rooms either on my own. I managed to find the tutorial here at work, so I'm PMing it to you now.

@Nidrail: Thank you! I hope your doll dress auctions go very well.

Not bad at all, though I think I like my skins that I've already made the way they are. I will have to give your method a try for future characters though, since it will be possible to create lighter skin tones such as yellow or turqouise that I can't currently do. My skins also have a "realism" python script run over them that sets up a hugely fancy shader tree on them in Poser 6. It works great. You can see the difference if you look in my gallery at the Daru Closeup towards the top of the post, and Daru Closeup Redux further down. Thanks again for the tip!

Works great on any strange color, honestly. And it allows you a finer degree of control than P6's automated features do. Which would be especially handy if you want to take your work to the next level and add markings like Aayla's white spots to your characters.

The main white eye layer for Chadaara. o_O

Very cool, alienyouth!

In other news, TWO new images have been added: Triple Twi'lek Action and Women of Color Ultimate Edition! I await everyone's feedback. happy

Also a question for you guys: Do you prefer new images to be added on my latest post, or to keep everything in the original post? Personally, I like everything in the original post so I know where to look for everything, but I do have concerns for people who are not on high bandwidth connections (they DO exist still, hard to believe it I know). Would you prefer I did both? Added the images to the top post and also place the thumbnail and link in my latest update?

Let's try it today:

TWO new images today! =D

First up is something I started on for the "Lucky to get out alive" theme for this months render challenge, but I decided it didn't really fit b/c they wanted a canon char or something, so I ran with it in my own direction. So here you see Lana, Daru, and Rena ready for action! Now, I haven't decided that Rena is a Jedi necessarily (but she might have to be to fight in those high-heels!), but I wanted to get a lightsaber in there so I gave her one. tongue Daru had already been established with the vibroaxe and Lana with the vibroswords, so I didn't want to change their accessories. Without further ado, here it is:

Original Resolution

Next up we have the "Ultimate" edition of "Women of Color." I couldn't possibly leave my centerpiece work as it was without Lana's presence. So I took the time this weekend to update it and bring Lana into the picture. Five figures and their accompanying clothing are just about at the limits of 32-bit Poser computing. I was only able to squeeze out 2000x1922 from my computer on this one (as opposed to 4000x3844 for "Women of Color Plus"). Anyhow, here we go:

Original Resolution

Also, I have fixed the Mara Jade bikini pics so you can now enjoy them again. happy

That's why you use Photoshop. o_O Render out each character and combine them later.

With all due respect, you are aware that they make smaller bust options for Victoria, right? The orange one... Lana? They're pushing from sexy to freakish and disturbing. Daz's figures, without some of the aftermarket magnet and/or morph options, will never have large breasts that don't look like a really bad implant job, but especially when you cram them into the smallest outfit possible, the limitations of the program and the model become even more evident.

Oh, some of the hair is from poser, but it is just stuff from the library. Any time I want the hair blowing around I do it by hand. And usually for Mara I just use the short redhead bob cut and paint in extensions. No, I never used the Hair room.

Thanks for sending the tutorial.

alienyouthct: I realize you are new to my art thread, but you must not have taken a look around the rest of my images. When you are here, you will almost universally find generously proportioned female images. I'm aware that it's not entirely realistic (though you will find some women naturally proportioned as such), but Star Wars is fantasy at heart, and of course I will focus my own lense of creativity on the Star Wars universe. It may not be your cup of tea, but it doesn't have to be. Is there anything else in either of the two new images you can comment on? Lighting, poses, composition, clothing, etc? Most of it is up for grabs, but you will not find me radically changing the body shapes of my women from the way they currently are, except on specific requested images as I mentioned before (see Branna Ne'dolo and Ellie images for normalcy).

AG88: Good luck with it! I can't wait to see what you come up with! Did you miss the two new images this afternoon or just nothing to say? happy

There appears to be a light source in the rear (blue along the wall) but it casts nothing into the scene. It's a problem with Poser (at least back in 4; I didn't think you could add light-emission as a material quality in 6) but it's something to avoid until you upgrade to a program with a better rendering engine.

I've never actually seen a vibroweapon glow like that either, and it makes them seem like a cheap version of a lightsaber. I'm also assuming you're using one of the transmapped lightsaber props that were passed around a while back... I'd suggest finding either Photoshop or a friend with it to do a little postwork to enhance the blade.

Lana has the obvious problem with the piece near her crotch, but unless you can convert conforming clothing into dynamic (or whatever the fancy pants clothing thing in P5/6 is), that's hard to fix. Finally, even just clothing-wise the blue girl looks out of place because she's much classier than the other two. It looks like you were trying decide between fashionable and skankfest, couldn't, and just mushed the two together.

Sorry, I somehow skipped over it. Wow, that orange Twi'lek can use a sports bra. LOL

Very nice. I like the poses but the shadowing looks off on the first one.

The second one looks very nice.

Great job!!

Thanks Gio! happy
If you want to see the auction, its in my signiture.

Alright, two new images!!!
Women of Color Ultimate turned out nice!! No complaints on that one whatsoever!

As for the Vibro Blades glowing, I don't mind that, I think its cool, however your vibro blades in the first picture of lana were beautiful too.

I have to agree with AlienYouth that Daru is a little out of place because of outfit, but I like Daru's outfit better...
Also I was wondering, is there supposed to be more shadow under lana's right foot (my left)? I wasn't sure, but I thought it looked a little like she wasn't standing on the ground. Could be just me?

alienyouth: Yeah, the vibro-weapon glow didn't come out as I'd hoped, but another couple hours of rendering wasn't in the cards that night. Regarding compositing multiple figures into one image, I'm not a very talented Photoshop user, so I've got to make Poser do all I can. Getting shadows to look properly across figures when created or modified by hand in Photoshop would be beyond my ability, but I am working on my skills. On the Twi'lek action image, I left the two Twi'leks in their dancer outfits, because they are primarily dancers, but I had previously created a battle outfit for Daru so I wanted to use that again. Both of the other two outfits are not dissimilar to what you see in the Star Wars movies on bar patrons and other dancers. Agreed though, not necessarily appropriate for battling, but hey in an emergency...

AG88: Better shadowing next time I promise! Lana's outfit is made of space-age super supportive materials!

Nidrail: I'm definitely going to work on the appearance of the vibroblades. I'll chalk up the previous ones to being turned off in the earlier image. happy Regarding the shadowing, I seem to have not had the figures properly grounded, but I'll do a better job of checking up on those details next time, or postwork it.

Thanks everyone!

Hey Giolon--I finally got to view the latests pieces--I especially like the "Twi'lek Triple Action!" Their poses are very dynamic, and they are arranged very well to showcase each one. I like the environment you have them in--it looks like an engineering section of a ship or perhaps an industrial area on some planet. I think my only suggestion would be to have those harsh shadows that fall behind them follow up the wall: it looks to me as though the shadows are laying on a flat surface, while the wall rises behind the trio--the shadows would also make that "turn" and be on the wall behind them, too. Other than that, it's a great composition! The "Women of Color" piece just gets more and more populated, doesn't it? wink You're going to have to start painting them in Corel or somthing if you want to have them all together like this! It's a wonderful collection of your characters, though! Nice additions!

Your art is amazing! I love how you do the eyes, they're very vibrant. The lips are lovely too, and the way you do skin is very detailed and realistic. I love your characters. Twi'leks are the best. I also like your backgrounds, especially Naboo. It really gives a peaceful feel to the picture.
