Poser can't puke out a TIFF or PSD or some more complicated image format with an alpha layer?

I do work in TIFF format, though as I have mentioned before I'm slowly working on my postwork skills. I know what I can and cannot do successfully yet. I am trying to get better with Photoshop, but it takes time.

My next projects may keep me from doing Star Wars images for the next short while again sad , though I may post one of them here since it has a dragon! Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with everyone's threads still! happy

I meant that some image outputs contain an alpha layer, which would allow you to select all the rendered content in Photoshop and delete the background. From there, you'd end up with five character layers for your Women of Color bit, and it'd just be a matter of lining them up right. Although you might want to render them in twos and threes and swap out which ones are missing in order to get the shadows right. Dunno. I haven't had to deal with RAM issues since I got the 64 X2 4800+ and 4GB of RAM. o_O

AG88: I've got 2GB of RAM in mine. Maybe I'll get to 4GB someday in the future, but it's prohibitively expensive for me at the moment.

@alien, I do know how to utilize the alpha layers of the TIFF format, but as I mentioned before, it still takes some skill and practice to postwork things together effectively, in this case w/ shadows falling properly on each other.

Though the nice thing in Poser 6 is being able to save shadow maps for re-use. So, as long as I could get Poser to run with 5-6 figures in it long enough to generate a shadow map for them at the super hi resolutions I want, I should be able to postwork them all together, with some practice, after running complete renders w/ only a figure or two in them. It's too late for this one though. I've already got a poster print sent off. I had one done at the same resolution before and it came out well, but higher resolutions would let me create an even bigger poster!

There's an example of the re-shadowing technique in my gallery (linked in my profile) entitled "Break Free" (I can't directly link it here b/c of content considerations, it's PG-13 for sure). There are some candle blocks on the floor of the background, but I wanted them to cast shadows properly in the render. So, I set up some plain cubes, ran the render on shadows only to generate the shadow maps, then removed the blocks and ran the real render while using the same shadow map and viola! We have candles w/ proper shadows!

Dude, like wow!!

That is amazing... I love the fire! It looks so real! And the lady, she looks very defiant and sure, like she's done this before, or is just crazy enough to not be afraid of dragons one bit. Her outfit is really metal and cool, too! I especially love the helmet. And the background is really nice as well! I don't have any complaints on that one, not a one.
I gotta say I have never liked dragons, but that is a very cool picture.

Well done! grin

Very nice pic, Giolon!! Is that all done by Poser? How did you make the fire coming out of his mouth? Was that part of the Dragon program?

I like it very much.

You were talking earlier about rendering 5 or 6 figures at once. It must be nice to have 2GB RAM. That would lock up my computer forever. The most people I do is two at one time. Usually I render them separately and just crop and photomanip them into a background I created.

Anyway, excellent work!!! All you would have to do is give your warrior a lightsaber and you got a SW image. tongue

Thank you, Nidrail and AG88! Everything is done in Poser, except for the night sky which I made in Bryce. The fire is a trasnmapped texture on a flat plane prop.

So reading about stuff, and apparently the main memory culprit here is the Dragon. All of its morphs are loaded into the model by default, with no way to strip them down to just the ones you are using in Poser.

Looks great! The flames could be bigger to evoke a greater sense of danger, but it's nicely rendered nonetheless. I really love the lighting happy

Wonderful lighting on the dragon one, and great work on the fire! I need a Twi'lek in there for good measure though... :P

I have to say that Dragon picture is beautiful. I like how serenely calm the dragon woman warrior is facing her enemy mischief

Looking through your other pictures I like the one w/ Daru confused on Naboo. A) She's more clothed than usual tongue however, that doesn't make her less sexy wink B) it was a rather refreshing change of scenery. I can tell that you're obviously having fun and learning to use Bryce and doing a good job of it.

Great work! Hope to see more cool stuff from you!

Thank you, Darth_Snuggle, Basement24, and PLJ! You know, DS, you'd think that with my usual motif of "bigger is better!" that the flames would be bigger, but alas, this render is done. Perhaps next time in a sequel image or something, eh? wink And PLJ, unfortunately I can't claim making that background myself in Bryce (yet), but I'm working on learning it as fast as I can! It's been something of a tougher nut to crack for me than Poser. I'm glad you liked the clothes. happy

Until next time, Gio out.

Hey Giolon--sorry it took me so blasted long to get in here to comment! Been having some downloading/forum "issues," and just didn't have the time to spare til now!

And on the dragon/warrior piece: WOW!!! Loving the lighting on this one--it's just awesome, with the flames being the primary source, and the full moon being the secondary--all just beautifully done! I just love the way the beast's wings are swept back over the body, just as one would expect if it's expelling flames like that--and I have to agree with all the comments so far about the beautiful and confident pose of the "slayer:" she really looks ready to face this thing--even though it seems the beast has the advantage for the moment. The way you've lifted her tabards/clothing on that "hot wind" from the dragon's breath is exquisite--it really gives a tremendous energy to the image. Superb! The atmosphere here is just so medieval--perfect for the scene--and the environment is wonderfully done as well, with the rough-hewn stones all reflecting that orange flame...awesome! applause Beautifully done!
