Hi NL--and what a fabulous update!! applause The gouache paintings are just gorgeous--I agree with Azure that the Vader one is "haunting," but in a very good way! The prints are wonderful--were those lino cuts, or some other printing method? The details are awesome! And your cat is too cute (who doesn't love a kitty? grin )! Mouse! LOL! That's a unique name for a cat! Great, great work here--and good luck with all your school work! grin

Hi and welcome to my thread! happy Actually I haven't painted gouache for quite a long time and I have to analyse the color with PAINTER before I painted. Very glad you like them, thank you again. BTW, I really like your name, Azure is just the meaning of my real name in Chinese!

Hi there! love The print is the picture printed from an engraved plate( I looked it up from different dictionaries and they call this kind of picture print. So I have to explain it in such awkward way,LOL) And thank you so much for your concern , my midterm grade is better than I expect laugh

Great paintings, NLS! The Vader one depicts the show from the movie and captures its essence very well. I'm not sure is the other one Padmé? Regardless it is very nice as well.

ROFL @ your cat! I love cats, and I miss mine that live at my parent's house.

Oh, wow... The Ankara dancer is just gorgeous, NL!! applause applause Such a beautiful and delicate rendering, and all the detailing is amazing... Gorgeous shading... **sighs** Just gorgeous!! It looks like a book illustration about great sculptures of the world...amazing!

I still love that "futuristic" structure you can see from your roof--it's so beautiful! I'll make a suggestion that, for your low-light or night photographs, you try using a tripod with a remote shutter release for the camera: a firm steady stand will crisp up these images, and allow you to achieve a much better quality. Even just setting the camera on a hard surface would work--but a tripod is a great tool for low-light or night photography (learned this from my photographer husband! tongue ). No matter how hard we try, when we handhold the camera, it's impossible to be as absolutely still as slow shutter speeds require. See if a tripod helps (some of the small ones can be had for relatively cheap!)!

I'm really HAPPY to hear you say so! Actually the sculpture is way more beautiful! I will find a chance to post it here.
And thanks for your suggestion, I suddenly remember that my Dad has a tripod for DV. I don't know if it can work. grin

*is also astonished!*

Wow, great up-dates and you are a master of many art materials, NL.

*looks over to the Chinese Ph. D. college of her beloved master & commander DarthUncle (short: DU)!*

I chose my name due to Anakin's choice of his 2nd ship in the Clone Wars and because of a song text from the French musical NOTRE DAME DE PARIS. I had NO clue about the Chinese meaning.

*beams!*

Anyway, you asked me a question about my latest up-date: how I did it? Well, inspiration and a lot of time on a train journey from Germany to the Netherlands.

Whoa! I love the Ankara Dancer! It's just beautiful! It would be great to see how the original sculpture looks. And those photos are great too. I think the three Before Storm-photos and the third moon photo are my favorites. Those have some really nice colors and light.

I have to admit that I still have a lot to learn,LOL. I think the sculpture is really a master piece! love

The story is about a little cat tried to rescue his mother from ghostdom. So enjoy it:

hm, yes, true, some vietnamese, some from India, and quite a few Chinese but they mostly do more experimental chemistry then I do, so no direct collegues. Today however I was busy preparing a computer for a new Ph.D. student who landed earlier today at the Airport and who will be with us for the next four years as a theoretical chemist, in the office next to me * hugs Azure*

I really like your art NL! very nice eye for detail, and a way to make it come to live. Great work!
