Hey all,
After some careful consideration, I decided to give the rotating banner thing a try. This will be similar to the schemes you see in Literature, Classic Trilogy and elsewhere on the JC. Basically, you can sumbit banners here anytime you wish by simply posting links directly to this thread. Banners will then be taken randomly from this thread and placed into the rotation to appear on the forum page.
Tips and guidelines for banners can be found in the Official Banner Maker's Thread. All guidelines must be followed in order for you banner to qualify. The following text must also appear somewhere within the image itself:
1) Fan Art Forum
2) The Force.net
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask! And finally, have fun!

Not 100% sure I did it right, or that it's worthy, but here's a banner I made from what we had from the 30th Anniversary challenge. A couple of characters had to be omitted because of space, but a lot of the characters made it in. I think out of the character finished, the only ones that didn't make it in were the Death Star Trooper, one of the Sandtroopers, and R5. Not to say they weren't good, but it was just getting crowded and I felt the Imperial presence was satisfactory, and R5 shouldn't be present if R2 wasn't. I also hope people don't mind that I coloured a couple in for consistancy.

If it's not worthy, then no worries, I don't mind if it doesn't make it up, but I had a bit of free time, so I thought I'd try.
EDIT - Looking at it more, I'm not too fond of it... It's not very quality work. Meh... I'll leave it up anyway because otherwise it was time wasted.

Great submission, B24!
I really like the concept of using all of the 30th Anniv. drawings. Is there any way you can make a stylsheet to go along with it? I would love to see how it would look up against the forum layout.

I'm having a bit of trouble with the style sheet aspect. My main idea was the same layout we currently have, but instead of the black bar on the left, if would be white to match the white around Luke's leg. I'll plug away at it, but if anyone else can make a CCS that would be super. Programming isn't my kind of thing, I'm a Photoshop kind of guy.

B24: Nice idea bringing the Anniversary collage images into the banner. Although it'd probably be better to wait till we have 'em all.
odj:  I see you used some of the artworks from back in the day when we had the banner competition. Or is it even the same banner you submitted back then? In any regard, it's nicely done, and it's cool to see one of my oldest photomanips on it. 
A general question: Source Images. Can I also take source images from other sites than TFN Fan Art? And when it take a fan's artwork, should I ask the artist for permission to use it, first?
I already have an idea where I can find great source images, in the favorites section of my Deviant Art account, hehe...  But only if that's okay with you, HS29.

Nah, I'm just kidding. I agree with Corran_Fett, it really is a nice banner and it would be awesome to include it in the rotation. Concerning the stylesheets(I see that B24 is having problems as well), I think there might be a tutorial in the link I posted in the opening post of the thread. But don't feel bad, I could never figure it out either.
In regards to source images - I'm pretty much keeping this wide open. You can go with official SW art or other fan art you find out there. But I do recommend you ask permission to use fan artwork before sticking it into a banner. Hope that helped.

Well last time I made a banner for the forums my style sheet got made by someone else. If it gets accepted this time hopefully this image will give them some idea of where I was going with the background colour. Not sure if it helps or not but... *shrug* Oh and individual pieces will come soon.

A few comments to banner 2: Yeah, I know, it probably looks like shameless self promotion, but out of my pool of source images, I couldn't find a good image for the upper left corner, the "curve", so I took one of my own - or at least halfway, since Kuk-Man did the lineart, after all. I also decided against linearts in this banner, because there are so many great colored pieces, I wanted to give them precedence. And I've got enough "white" in the first banner already, after all.
Now, the credit the great artists behind those amazing pieces.  They're all from http://www.deviantart.com , although a few are TFN Members, too.

Very nice, Corran_Fett! Nice compilation of images. They flow together quite nicely in both of them.

Just one thing... the "reply.jpg" doesn't show up on Post Reply pages. I know, it isn't much of a reply image, anyway, but that's the only way I can credit the original artists.
