I had to mess with it a bit, but it apparently works now. So, you'll hear the first new system segments for the two Galasso segments of CR #21 on June 1.

Yes, I'll be doing commentaries for all of the other five films eventually. I'm hoping to get a lot more done on them this summer, now that my students have graduated and I have some free time through August.

I'll be at ConCarolinas 2005 this weekend doing panels and signings.
And to Le_Sammler: I've started to really crack down on trying to get time for the other commentaries. Stay tuned.

ChronoRadio #24 in December is going to deal with two feature topics:
What would fans like to see done in future SW novels?
What would fans like to see done in future SW comic books?
We're going back to the original, early days of ChronoRadio in that instead of having a live guest on, I'd like to get comments from a bunch of different people via message boards and email, then bring up those comments on the show and expand upon them.
So, if you have thoughts on either of the two questions above, post your thoughts. Your comments might find their way into CR #24.
(And, yes, the reason this is a separate thread is so that we can assume that those who post are acknowledging a desire and permission to have those thoughts aired.)

Nathan, this is not really ChronoRadio related, however, I just recently got a Broadband internet connection, and now have the luxury of being able to download large files, and want to experience more of your work.
I want to download some of your Fan Audio, however, also, what are your recommendations of the best Fan Film out there?

Fan films...easy. I'd suggest these four: The Formula; Revelations; IMPS The Relentless; and Broken Allegiance.

I read recently somewhere, I think over at starwarsfanworks.com that you will be ending ChronoRadio next year.
For the love of God, why?!?

Here's a topic idea for Chrono Radio: How might Starwars be thought of (looked at) in the distant future. Like in the centuries or millennia to come. Will it quickly be forgotten about? Or will it become like The Oddessy, King Arthur, etc?

Le_Sammler:
As far as ChronoRadio ending...
It's kind of hard to explain outside of my own mind. I've got this mental image of 2007 as a big year, something to really rally Star Wars fans behind. It's the 30th Anniversary of A New Hope, the 10th Anniversary of the Special Editions, and, for me, 10 years of my Star Wars Timeline Project and 5 years since I premiered the first internet-released SW fan audio drama (Second Strike) and ChronoRadio (my first radio show). All those anniversaries sort of mingle in my head to make 2007 a time to both celebrate and reflect.
Add to that the fact that I'm a teacher, so I tend to also look at things in terms of fours, like a high school or college experience of four years. That then makes 2007 also the 4th anniversaries of my Anthology audio drama series (all 5 episodes came out in 2003) and the 4th anniversary of the launch of StarWarsFanworks.com.
I had been thinking for a while about what to do in terms of celebreations of that whole "crux in time" thing, and I was also thinking ahead to what I want to do in the future as far as my participation in fandom.
The Star Wars Timeline Gold almost *needs* to continue. Now that TimeTales isn't updating very frequently and has had some computer problems and such, the SWT-G is really the only chronology out there for Star Wars to be anywhere near its level of comprehensiveness. And, of course, starwarsfanworks.com needs to continue, as it serves the entire Star Wars fan audio community and has no contemporaries of the same purpose.
By August 1, I'll have *three* ongoing radio shows that I'm producing. "Other Voices" has been somewhat of a flop. It has been enjoyed, so the fan response has been good, but the production process that should be fairly simple has been incredibly convoluted with several people bowing out at the last minute and such. Thus, Other Voices, which I started as a quarterly series, will end soon. I'm hoping we can get a full year out of it and end it in March 2006, but it might not even last that long. If I don't have enough material from people to produce three more full episodes, it'll go as long as it can, then end.
"Fan Audio Made Easy" is being created with a specific tenure in mind. We're going for a round number, not something that just keeps going and going. We're looking at either a year and a half (36 episodes) or two years (48 episodes), depending on the number of topics we come up with. I think we already have something in the range of 25 to 30 topics already selected, so I'm betting on 36 for now. Once we hit whatever we deem to be the right length, though, it'll end.
"ChronoRadio" is a different story. It was never created with an end date in mind. To be honest, I'm not sure if I ever imagined it'd reach all the way to 2007 to begin with. The longest running English language Star Wars fan radio show at the moment was Jedi Talk. I don't know on what date in 1999 it began or what date in 2002 it ended, but if we figure it ran from Jan. 1, 1999 to Dec. 31, 2002, then it ran for a full four years. ChronoRadio will hit that same duration of four years in May 2006. After that, it'll be the longest-running English language SW fan radio show. (Star Wars en Direct, unless it ends during 2005, will, I think, retain the title of longest running SW fan radio show in any language, since they've been airing French episodes since 2001.) Alongside that possible "lonest running in English" bit, it's also the only SW fan radio show thus far to end up drawing a member of the fan audio community into official Star Wars publishing, if only briefly. Only one other team (Sigma Phi Kappa, the team behind Betrayed Federation) can make a similar claim, with Steve Mollmann now co-writing a Star Trek ebook. It's nice to feel like the show will have a sort of historical context to it, y'know?
Anyway, I look ahead and I'm not sure where ChronoRadio is going. However, I do see a few endings in its future. The Film Commentaries that I have already done for TPM, AOTC, and Clone Wars Vol. 1 have shown me that I really have very little desire to do the entire Classic Trilogy in the same fashion. I'd rather do commentaries for Clone Wars Vol. 2 and ROTS, so as to cap off the Prequel Trilogy and Clone Wars series, then discontinue that particular type of CR episode. Then there's the Serial Editions, which, now that Parallels and Everything Changes are out (and covered in the Rayzur's Edge Audio Guidebook), I don't see a reason to continue. That leaves Supplemental Episodes (which are happening less and less frequently, save for the month after ConCarolinas), Special Editions (which, barring any major changes in Lucasfilm continuity policy, won't have any more releases except for the CR Retrospective in May 2007), Interview Editions (which I think are winding down as my contacts are slowly used up, leaving three more for sure and any others up in the air), and regular episodes.
The regular episodes are still going strong, but I'm definitely finding it harder and harder to come up with topics to discuss. There's a wide range of topics out there, to be sure, but the Star Wars fan radio show genre has boomed immensely in the last couple of years. Requiem of the Outcast and the English version of Star Wars en Direct premiered in 2003. Star Wars and Beyond launched in 2004. 2005 has thus far seen the premieres of Star Wars: The Cantina (now over, as it was only a limited series), Other Voices (mine), RoneyZone Radio, Star Wars FM, the TFN Podcast, and (by the end of the year) a new pair of radio shows, Star Wars: Bookiees and Galaxies Watch Raddio. With so many shows out there, particularly with SWD airing weekly and the TFN Podcast airing somewhat weekly, a lot of topics are being covered very quickly. It's a matter of redundancy in part, which is part of why when the Tales review series I'm doing for 2005 ends in December, CR will no longer have a review segment at all.
You add to the sense of building toward something big in 2007, plus the ever-expanding radio genre field, other factors, my impending marriage in the next year or so and having to try to launch an entire debate program at the school where I work, and you'll see ever-decreasing amounts of free time to create episodes as well.
I feel like, looking ahead to 2007, that the 5th Anniversary is perhaps the best choice for when to end the series. It's the same month as the 30th Anniversary of ANH. It gives me the rest of this year's episodes to finish, a full year after that to build up to it, plus two the next year to wind things down before the retrospective. More than anything else, though, it allows me to do one thing that the show that inspired ChronoRadio (Digital Llama Radio) was unable to do: have a true send-off. DLR eventually faded away, then re-emerged as part of Digital Llama 2.0, but it was never really the same show, and when DL 2.0 died, it just died. There was no indication that it was ending, just an anticipation for a next episode that was never fulfilled. I want CR to end on the top of its game with a real send-off.
After that, who knows? Maybe I'll do something else. Maybe I'll get back into audio dramas and pick up with new episodes of Anthology or Always in Motion. Perhaps I'll try my hand at a "podcast novel" like EarthCore. I don't think I'll remove myself entirely from audio, but I'm likely to go in some other direction. Heck, maybe there'll end up being a Butler-made equivalent of RoneyZone Radio, what I want to talk about, when I want to talk about it, whether it's Star Wars or not. Perhaps something with a much looser format, rather than something with a guaranteed setup like CR (teaser, music, intro, newsbytes, mailbag, segment one, trivia, segment two, featurette, review, editorial, final comments).
So, all of that stuff kind of combines to lead to the eventual end of CR, OV, and FAME, and the opening of future possibilities.
And, to Darthness, that might actually make for a great final topic for the regular CR episodes, around April 2007. I'm going to make a note of that.
