Dragon Con!!! It's my first time, my second con overall, and I will be dressed as a Corellian Jedi in green and black.  As for C3, a bunch of us are caravaning our way over to Indy (and I'm resisting the urge to quote that ever famous Brad Pitt line from "Snatch"). From what I've heard about C2, I think there's no better place to meet fanfic friends than C3, where you can talk for hours while waiting in line to meet a guest.

Ooh I can't wait for C3 next year. I've never been to a big con like it before. The last two were scheduled back when I was in high school and my parents refused to let me off school for a star wars convention  no matter how much I begged. Ahh well now that I'm married and my hubby is a big fan too ..plus he's got relatives up that way so we're gonna use that as our excuse to swing up that way. He's not anticipating the lines to be much fun since he's not the real talkative type like me lol--but I agree.. I can't wait to meet folks from the boards..my co-author and I are planning to meet..so excited..

you cant forget Toronto Trek. Dont let the trek part fool you. the main focus was startrek but it has drifted over the years. there is some starwars content and Ive seen some starwars coastumes running around. Ill post a link to it when I can. I should be there again this year, a bunch of us usually get a room for the weekend

There is also about 2 or three fanfic panels, I put in to be a panelist for one but havnt heard back yet. as per last years I found out one panel at a time if I got it or not. So far I only know I got one of the four panels I requested.

I went to DragonCon two years running, but I won't make it this year. I'm also missing out on BayCon this weekend as I have to work (cruel and unusual punishment, that!). But they're usually a blast, dressing up, meeting other fans, being silly, being serious, going to the boards and lectures...

I went to Celebration II and--please no throwing anything at me--I didn't enjoy it enough to go back. Here are the reasons:
1)Too many people, too little space
2)I spent 76% of my time waiting in lines
3)With so many people I couldn't get into all the shows/discussion I wanted.
4)They did not have the Free Book section as advertised
5) There were way too many people
6) The first day I spent waiting in to get in the building, waiting in line to get my pass, and waiting in line for the excusive figure. The only other thing I did on the entire first day (and I stayed until 7pm) was check out the new board/card games and attended one ceremony.
8) The small discussions they had were mostly boring (the ones I went to)
9)Even with waiting in line so much, there still wasn't enough to do to fill up three days
10) And, have I mentioned that there were too many people?
There were some good things about it...
1) The interview with Carrie Fisher and the one with Jango Fett was really interesting.
2) The preview of the Yoda fight scene was great.
3) The SW in 30 minutes show was probably the best part
4) The free little goodies were fun, and
5) Playing the board games (which is were I spent the most of the last day since it was the ONE spot in the convention center that wasn't crowded) was enjoyable.
Now, don't get me wrong. It was a good experience, I'm glad I did it, but knowing what it is I won't go back for C3. It isn't worth the drive, money and fighting the crowds.
But, that was just my experience. Please don't stone me if you disagree. If you had a great time, I somewhat envy you.

I have already met Mistress Renata at Empire Fan Fest.
And let me say to all male members of the JC, She didnt get her name from a book. She earned the nickname. And let me say from personal experience It hurt. Whip marks take a while to heal. I will never be the same man after meeting her again.
Whatever you do, dont say the words Thank you ma'am to her. Otherwise you will regret it.

I was everywhere. I was mostly Strawbarys Lackey for the FF awards. And just so you know I met you with Mal, Mutt and Solo and a few others from DC and NJ.

I just got back from Balticon. Good convention - too little time.
I'm going to Dragoncon - a great convention but way too many people. I always enjoy myself, though, with tons of stuff to do, lots of panels to see (usually all at the same time) and, last year, Ray Parks (Darth Maul) taught some lightsaber techniques. He was wonderful! Plus James Marsden (from Buffy) gave a great speech, a lot of the Farscape people were there, some B5 and a few SW stars. I expect the same huge crowds and way too much to do!
I'm also going to Cele 3. Even though the crowds were huge, I loved every panel I went to last time. Got to see Hayden Christensen (a sweet, rather shy guy), all the Fetts, Ben Burtt who was wonderful and Jonathan Hales the cowriter of AOTC. My kid even had some art direction from Ian McCeig (sp?) one of the major SW artist.

I'll probably be in costume most of C III (hopefully before then, they'll release some good detailed pictures of some of the costumes for Ep 3; otherwise, I'll wear Ep 1 and 2 costumes). Too bad we couldn't have a badge or some other easy method of recognition. I know one year the Qui-Gon Jinn Discussion list had plastic-coated pictures of Qui-Gon with our names on it for Dragoncon. I still have mine...  I wore it to Empire Fan Fest just so I could tease JadeSolo about it...LOL.
