Falls_the_Shadow, I think your points about Palpatine being as determined to ruin Amidala’s heirs as well as Vader’s is just brilliant.
Falls_the_Shadow posted: It would be nice if the CW: Animated series develops more of the political angle of the decline and fall of the GFFA Republic.
I'd love to see more of Padmé in the series but from the clips and shows, I'm not holding out much hope.

Padme seems to be a character that gets sadly neglected in such things. I'd love to see them make more of her "warrior" spirit. But I don't think I'll get to see that.

A new picture of Padmé has been added to the "Characters" section of the Star Wars/Clone Wars website, looking a bit more like Aeon Flux than Natalie Portman.

I am writing (sloooooowly) a journal type story that's Padmé writing the events of the prequels from her election to some stuff I make up (since there's a ten year gap between TPM and AOTC) and ends with a last entry........
Anyone interested in helping me if I get stuck? Its on hold for a little while (since I have other fics in the works, that are unrelated) but I'd be glad for any help....especially for knowledge of the previous clone wars cartoon (the micro series).
And I sure hope she's not a "appears for five minutes" character in the Clone Wars movie.

Nope, from what little I've allowed myself to discover, Padmé's role is fairly important and quite a bit longer than five minutes.

I just got back from Clone Wars and I was quite happy with the results.
However, Padmé wasn't in nearly as much of it as I had hoped, not making an appearance until the last 20 or so minutes of the movie. But if you think of the movie as a collection of four 23 minute episodes, Padmé is a featured character in the last episode. There's even some subtle A/P romance. Hopefully she'll get a few more episodes to star in during the series on TV.
And for those of you who are big Dooku fans, he has a big role in the film, even interacting with Anakin and Padmé on separate occassions.
Plus there's some good Obi-Wan/Ventress interaction that's quite interesting. I believe he calls her "darling" at one point.

I was disappointed with the role of Padmé, too. I thought she'd have a little more screen time.

I don't usually listen to the Force-cast podcast here at theforce.net, but the 8/15 show has an interview about 30 or 40 minutes in with the gal who voices Ahsoka Tano where she gives some great insight into the character and also hints at the relationship between Ahsoka and Padmé, that they will interact a few times during the first season of the series.

I would pay good money to see Padmé/Ahsoka interacting on screen especially if their interaction has nothing to do with Anakin. There was a horrible article on Yahoo!Movies about Ahsoka is a better romantic interest for Anakin than Padmé because she’s boring. Now, I have a lot of strong opinions about that – (sexualizing a 14-year-old girl and pairing her up with her pseudo-father amongst others) – but the one that is most directly related to the Padmé discussion is how the article infers that only women who fit the boys’ fantasy of a kick-ass, smart-mouthed tomboy stereotype are the ones that count. One of the things I’ve always liked and admired about Padmé was that she was a cool character without fitting into that stereotype. She can and does fight – but in battle, she’s more of a general/strategist than a warrior and I personally believe that her greatest strengths are her brains and her diplomatic skills. In many ways, she’s Palpatine’s opposite number in everything non-Force and non-combat the way Anakin is Palpatine’s opposite number in the Force.
Anyway, enough about what I think. This is the article: Vader love triangle? New chemistry in 'Clone Wars' . Read it and discuss. And please be mindful of the boards’ spoiler policy and black out any specifics about the new movie.

I haven't read the article yet, but Ashley did mention in the podcast (without any prompting) that there was absolutely no romantic feelings between Ashoka and Anakin, that it is more of a brother/sister relationship.

Ahsoka a better match for Anakin? BITE ME!!!!
PADME was one of the BEST characters in all three of the prequels. What I admire about Padme is that she is smart, diplomatic, dignified and strives to be lady like despite the adversity surrounding her. She personifies a strong, RESPECTABLE female. She's a far better role model for young girls than that bratty, mouthy, kriffing MarySue kick-butt padawan they've created as an afterthought just as an attempt to revive the Star Wars franchise.
YEESH!!! I'm gonna be soo peeved if the Clone Wars series tries to pull an unrequited love thingy between Anakin & AhSUEka. Not only will this tarnish Anakin & Padme's love, it will make Anakin a dirty old perve. YUCK how gross is that?

From the film you can clearly see that the relationship between Anakin and Ahsoka is entirely different from the one he has with Padme. And Ahsoka is cool, I'd love to do some fics about her and look forward to seeing more of her in the series, I hardly think she's a Mary Sue.
We talked about Padme/Ahsoka in the CW board, saying that Padme may tell Ahsoka (and vice versa) all the embarrasing things about Anakin as often happens between wifes/girlfriends and the sisters of the husband/boyfriend.
Oh, and it is okay if I post here, isn't it?
