You know, I don't remember him ever having a hobby per se. If I'd guess, from the Jedi Academy series, he liked spelunking (going into caves) and soaking in hot springs. LOL. Oh, and having mud fights with his sister (from Splinter in the Mind's eye). The poor guy needs a real hobby.
Sand castles? Water balloons using the Force? Playing practical jokes on Han? Gambling with Lando? Ballroom dancing? I have no idea.

I want to try this one, but I really should get back to writing my other fic.......and I have no idea what kind of hobby he would have. He DID have the model T-16 he was playing with in the garage at his home on Tatooine. So maybe something to do with building model ships.........

...Or why not bird-watching, LOL. There must be a lot of exciting birds on Yavin IV...
I don't think Luke has that much free time at all. Meditation, training and studying old holocrons and datafiles about the old Jedi would fill a lot, and surely blur the line between job and spare time, like it does for all who commit themselves to their work.
But it's obvious he keeps himself fit, so sports would be filling quite a bit of what's left of the day.
In many fanfics Luke cooks pretty well, I could easily imagine that and I love the idea, but I don't think there is any confirmation in the profics. (Only that Mara can't cook, LOL!)
In Splinter of the Mind's Eye though, Luke mentions himself that he studied languages on his sparetime on Tatooine. I could easily imagine him doing somthing like that later in his life too; studying something semiuseful, because you never know when you might need it... I actually think he'd basicly be an eager student of many things in his sparetime.
Probably the holonet would offer a lot of options fro fretime too...
And let's not forget holochess, sabacc and dejaric.

Great topic, and an interesting question - what does Luke do in his spare time?
I can see physical exercise, running etc. I can see him into hiking, rock climbing - things that would be physical but also meant he could be out in the fresh air and on Yavin, seeing the beauty of the planet.
Studying, also, learning as much as he can about whatever he can. Of course, mechanics and tinkering with various objects.
I can imagine he probably would have played a lot of sabacc in his time, considering his friends and experiences during the Rebellion - that was probably all they could do on places like Hoth to pass the time. Although I wonder if in later life he would avoid games such as that, due to his Jedi powers and excellent abilities at being able to observe/read people. He might think it would give him an unfair advantage over others and so abstain.
Going down the obvious road - flying. He genuinely seems to enjoy being in his X-wing, charting his own course, doing all the manual work himself. I can see him getting into his ship and just flying around to get away from it all.

I think Luke's drive for adventure would have him doing a lot of reading, especially since he lives so far from all his friends. I can see him curled up with an exciting detective novel or some adventure that takes him, at least mentally, off Tatooine and into some daring experiences.
He'd also have a bit of his father's need for speed. I could see him on a swoop, too, racing around the canyons.
Anything but farming...Here's a farmboy who failed 4-H miserably.

About the reading... the one time he's seen in Tatooine Ghost (when Leia calls to have a chat, I forget which page number), he's studying the Jedi lore that he got from that clan on Dathomir in COPL.

Aaaaah, I see that 'Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor' by Matthew Stover is listed for an October 21, 2008 release on amazon. But it's hardcover. Grumble. I usually wait for the paperback to come out.

I think Luke's hobbies would go along the lines of learning. Examples: Languages, history. I can also see him being a great cook and maybe sketching. I don't know why, but I read a fic where he could draw really well and that image has stuck with me ever since. Then there is the usual: fixing up his x-wing, messing with anything mechanical, etc. Just my opinion.

you can often find the book up to 40% (hardcover) on a site like overstock.com Maybe you could buy it from there?
