	I just had another thought. Tenel Ka and Jacen did kiss at the end of The Emperor's Plague. He also gave her that gort necklace. 	Hi! Go J/TK! I definitely enjoy them in the YJK more. Jacen and Tenel Ka's personalities simply seem to click together. It feels right. Jacen's the joke-teller and animal-lover; Tenel Ka's the serious warrior. They go so well together. -Dathomiran

	thinks she has a favorite new thread at TFN The links...the graphics...the interview...this thread ROCKS! Okay, okay enough gushing... Is J/TK strictly a YJK couple in your mind? Do you think they would work in the NJO? Why? IMO, the NJO had major characterization problems, and I was rather disappointed there wasn't much J/TK interaction. That said, I believe that they could have worked as a couple (and still can since nothing else cannon wise has been established for either character). While Jacen was pretty much oblivious to the opposite sex in the NJO, Tenel Ka's reaction in Dark Journey and Jaina's remark of Jacen loving Tenel Ka but simply having been oblivous to his own feelings gave me some hope. Then there was Destiny's Way where they didn't even talk to each other. Oui. I do like them as a YJK couple, but I also like the idea of them being older so they can have a more serious relationship other than "Wow, she's pretty" or "Hmm, interesting male." There's plenty of plot development for intrigue in the Hapes Consortium and Jacen being torn between his duties as a Jedi and his heart (if the EU authors would let him have one ); in fact there could be a bit of angst with Tenel Ka not wanting to be Queen Mother anymore, abdicating, seeing the chaos that insues, and having to go back for the good of her people. I think there's a lot of potential if the authors were willing to explore it. As for why J/TK shippers hang on while people have accepted Jaina moving on -- of the two Solo twins, her relationship with a significant other was actually written about. In Star by Star, there was a line where she knew she cared about Zekk as a friend but that was all; kind of sucky closure, but it was still closure. There's never been any definative closure (as far as I remember reading) for Jacen and Tenel Ka. It seemed like there was something there for at least one of them but stuff (Vergere, for example) would keep getting in the way. Also, I (and probably most Jacen fans) never really took a liking to Danni as a love interest. He saves her life, is actually interested in her (i.e. showing that he had a pulse), and she tells him that he's too young for her. Ooookay. Jacen comes back from being tortured for months and Danni's all "You have facial hair and scars, you're a manly man, RAWR!" and Jacen is doing the "What's that over there?" completely ignoring her bit. Beyond his initial interest in Vector Prime, we never get to hear from Jacen's point of view of how he feels about Danni; the Barabel in the Force Heretic series is the one to tell us she can sense Jacen's concern for Danni. Why not have Jacen think, "I'm concerned about Danni" instead of hearing it from a secondary source? I think I'll go work on the challenge now. Sometimes I just wonder if they're deliberately making Jacen oblivious to women. And as for Vergere, well, as my friend Inyri would say, she's now extra crispy fried chicken. I hope she stays that way, too. I think it'll work in the NJO--think about it this way--the gallant knight and the noble queen--it's a universal story, and I think that's what makes us like it. And just as another point of conversation--could Tenel Ka and Jacen get together without her having to abdicate the throne? After all, isn't Jacen still directly in line to be a prince of Alderaan, even if Alderaan doesn't exist anymore? And depending on Threepio's version of the story...King of Corellia too? 	In my opinion, there's no reason why they can't get together. I have not read the majority of njo books because I was so disappointed with them, but was it stated that Tenel Ka's marriage had to be royal? Isolder married Teneniel, after all, and she wasn't an official princess. Or is it different for the Queen Mother? Either way, I could see them getting together without Tenel Ka having to abdicate the throne. I agree with Carr. If there is any disapproval, there is the fact that Jacen is the son of the former Chief of State and the former princess of Alderaan. -Dathomiran

Teneniel’s grandmother held the deed to Dathomir, which made Teneniel Princess of Dathomir and thus, royalty. Personally, I consider Jacen royalty. I never understood why Leia wasn’t Princess (or even Queen) of New Alderaan. I think Jacen could claim to be a part of New Alderaan’s royal house (wouldn’t Queen Mother Tenel Ka and Prince Consort Jacen Solo travelling to New Alderaan make an interesting story? 	Well, I put up a post in response to the challenge, so I hope it goes over well. CarrKicksDoor: I'm pretty sure Jacen's obliviousness of women was done on purpose. Considering the way that TUF ends with Danni deciding that she once loved Jacen but doesn't anymore, I get the feeling the NJO authors didn't want to touch "Jacen relationships" with a ten-foot pole. Funny that you should also bring up the "King of Corellia" bit (I've been skimming through The Courtship of Princess Leia for info on Hapes), but I'd agree that Jacen is "technically" royalty, so he should be eligible as Tenel Ka's consort. I think they could marry and not have Tenel Ka abdicate the thone, but I wonder if some authors might think of that as a dead end for Jacen's character (i.e. might think they've just gotten him stuck on Hapes). TK and Jacen would definately need to have an "understanding" that she's still Queen Mother and he's still a Jedi Knight, so they both have important jobs they must do and can't tell the other not to do what they do (i.e. they may be married but Jacen may end up spending half the time hopping around the galaxy while she has to stay on Hapes to run things and keep her relatives from killing each other). 	She's still Queen Mother and he's still a Jedi Knight, so they both have important jobs they must do and can't tell the other not to do what they do I think it could absolutely work that way. I mean, Han and Leia were apart all the time, and they still managed to create a strong marriage and a good family enviroment for their children (for the most part). 	Well, with Naboo we're getting a little murky. Not even taking into account the fact that Naboo elects its royalty, we have to know which of the Skywalker twins was born first. If Leia's the oldest, we could probably say that she inherits her mother's title and Jacen could be a little prince. Else if Luke was the older twin, Leia would be whatever the GFFA's equivalent of a duchess is, and Jacen would be a little lord. Unless the GFFA takes the 'first male child' born to a family thing, in which case Jacen would be a little lord regardless of which of the Skywalker twins is older.
