	Okay, guys, I was about to post the challenge when I realized that I never really asked for feedback, well, ever. 	Good point about the Mara/Anakin dynamic. I think Mara was probably the only one out of the oldies who was on the same wavelength as Anakin. And I think she had a lot of respect for him. Onslaught was really good in terms of the Anakin-Mara interaction. ) Whitey Yep - I think one a month is fine. 	clears throat Ladies and Gentlebeings, I present to you the (probably not) first ever A/T Fanfic Challenge! polite clapping The challenge? To incorporate this item into an original short story involving our favorite couple: an itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny-yellow-polka-dot-bikini. The judges are: Whitey, YodaKenobi and TahiriSoloFan The rules are: Well, not much. Just a few, shall we say, guidelines. 1) There is NO word limit. We're looking for quality, not quantity. 2) These are SHORT stories. No multiple post entries. 3) The above item must be relevant to the story. No passing mentions. 4) It can be any genre you want it to be. Humor, romance, action, you name it. Obviously, will find some challenges easier to incorporate into particular genres. 5) Both and Anakin and Tahiri must be actively involved in your story, though that's a given. 6) You will have one month to complete your story. All entries must be posted in the Beyond the Saga Forum by 12:00 AM Board Time on SUNDAY, APRIL 2. The topic must clearly indicate that you are an A/T challenge contestant. 7) All entries must also be PMed to every judge. This will make our job so much easier. Judging: Each judge will write a review and give a score out 10 for every entry. All scores and reviews will be sent to me via PM, NOT posted on the boards. I will compile a summary of every judges responses and combine the scores for a total out of 30 points. Whoever has the most points at the end obviously wins. The winner will be announced in this thread as soon as possible after I have compiled every score. I'll give everyone a heads beforehand. The contest begins... now. Well, as near as I tell, Mara's close involvement with Anakin begins with Luke sending the two of them off to Dantooine together in Onslaught, and in simple terms, what resulted was IMHO nothing more or less than the gears of their respective characterizations meshing in that context. Mara, being Mara, automatically and unselfconsciously began giving orders once they got there (compare SQ, where she instinctively takes charge of Chak and his stormtroopers); and Anakin turned out to work well to instruction... Later on, in Balance Point, I think Mara's POV is quite explicit that she's teaching Anakin the subtlety and sophisticated infiltration skills that he can't learn from Luke; it's also worth remembering that in Ruin, or maybe even at the end of Onslaught, Mara formally releases/"graduates" Jaina as her apprentice, when she joins Rogue Squadron - something that seems to be often overlooked... Exactly how much Luke expected an informal Master/Apprentice dynamic to develop between Mara and Anakin is another question - if I remember right, his main reason for sending them to Dantooine, was nothing more complex than thinking that Anakin and Mara both need a break, but I wouldn't say it was entirely unintended; I need to check Onslaught for more, but certainly, while Farmboy may be the Solo boys' formal Master, and Mara may be Jaina's, the two of them do typically work together as a team in most things... Interestingly, Tahiri in Conquest says that Anakin left with Mara last time he was on Yavin 4 - I assume this is meant to be a reference to Onslaught, but since Anakin and Tahiri were on Yavin 4 together early in Jedi Eclipse as well, it has the (presumably unintended) effect of indicating that Mara was off-camera with the Solo boys through the Centerpoint incident, and then with Anakin for two months on Coruscant after that... Certainly, Mara was supposed to be on Coruscant recuperating at the time, so in those two months, Mara was Anakin's main contact with the rest of the Jedi, and the rest of his family.
