I will happily take all the hugs I can get and return them twofold..
Welcome gauss1. Have a hug!
Qustion 1 : Have you ever had to ban someone you were close to?
No, but I look forward to it!! Strangely enough though, I've become closer to some I have.
Question 2 : Was there a noticible change in peoples attitudes towards you once you assumed the position of Mod?
For those who knew me, only in the teasing, sassy people.
Question 3 : Have you ever felt like chucking it?
I'm sure all mods have and I'm no different. Sometimes the stress does get to me and I wonder why I do this. But then I read some post that reminds me why and how much I love these boards. I've lived through so many different lives here. I've cried, laughed, been grossed out, horrified and fallen in love many times over. I've been given so much, I owe the boards for that and the friends I've made here.

Yikes! I'm so sorry I missed a lot of conversation here.
In any case:
Do you tell your families/workmates/friends about your writing hobby? About your modding?
- My husband knows all about it. Some friends and family know I spend time writing fanfic but not about the modding. One of the nurses at the dialysis unit where I work caught me on TFN and for a while he would go, "Nerd Alert!" when he saw me
How hard is it to find writing time with all your modding duties?
- VERY hard. I find I definitely have a lot less time to write...I used to be able to churn out three posts a week. Now if I can do two in a month I feel like I've accomplished something.
Now that you are a mod, do you pay more attention to what you write than before? Subject matter, posting schedule, PG-edgy versus not?
- Not really. I never really wrote higher than PG for public consumption on these boards, so being a mod hasn't changed my mindset about pushing the envelope.
My question (if it can be called that):You're the mods, plenty of the users are your friends - let's suppose you see a particular conversation going awry in a thread or something - and you know you're going to have to do something about it. Aside from your mod-duties...what do you feel, really, about such situations?
- If it was a close friend, I might do the PM method first and ask them to stop what they were doing. Otherwise I would still step in. I think that's the right thing to do no matter what the situation.
Have you ever had to ban someone you were close to?
- Thankfully, no.
Was there a noticible change in peoples attitudes towards you once you assumed the position of Mod?
- Not from closer friends, but definitely among people I knew only as acquaintances.
Have you ever felt like chucking it?
- Every day. I fantasize about my suite in the Island of Retired Mods quite frequently
But joking aside, yes, I've thought about it more than once. It can get pretty stressful.

Qustion 1 : Have you ever had to ban someone you were close to?
I haven't had to ban ANYBODY yet, thank goodness. Any volunteers? I have to practice, you know! Though I've threatened my daughter more than once! Hopefully, if it ever happened, we would both handle it in a mature manner and then move on.
Question 2 : Was there a noticible change in peoples attitudes towards you once you assumed the position of Mod?
Like LP, not from those I know well, but I noticed a little bit of a change. But everyone's been nice so far. Of course, I'm still in the "honeymoon" period, aren't I?
Question 3 : Have you ever felt like chucking it?
Well, since it's just been a week it would be bad if I'd felt that way already. So, I'd have to say no. But get back to me in six months and I'm sure you'll get a different answer.

Ok! Thanks for the answers!

I, for one, do not think the problem was that the band was down.I think that the problem may have been that there was a Stonehenge monument on the stage that was in danger of being crushed by a dwarf.

Hello! I'm a newbie, so here's my little bio:
Name: Millenium Dove (just dove is fine)
Fanfictions I'm interested in: Romance for Obi Wan, Luke's padawan, Han's first loves
Why I joined the boards: I was feeling brave. Usually I'm the kind of person to lurk about and read, but I felt spontaneous that day. And haven't regretted it yet!
So, um, I have a question. I've never read much EU stuff, so does anyone know if in any books or anything if he took a padawan?
(sorry it's off the topic)

Thanks for the welcomes, Alethia and Healer_Leona! And I'm glad to hear that you know some funny statisticians, dianethx. Personally, I think we get a bad rap.
I have a question for the mods. I know that your job is difficult and can be stressful. Can you tell me what your favorite part of the job is? Has there been one experience in particular which made you say, "I'm glad to be a mod!"?
And welcome, dove, from another newbie!

Hi dove. I've read all the EU but I'm rather confused. Who did or did not take a padawan? Luke? Yes, he did, a couple in fact but he was mostly training all the Jedi at one time. So he didn't do it for really long periods of time. I'm sure others could give you much more depth on that. You might ask in the Farmboy character thread. They would know.
Edit. Here's the link to Farmboy character thread

I have a question.
1. Have you now that you are a mod. Like starting a mod, met more people and are closer to more people on the board. Or more like not as much. Or are you meet a lot more but less close. Like..

And what it all comes down to is that I haven't got it figured out just yet. Would I rather be feared or loved? Um... Easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me. Persia pwns your face.
