Alex,
Revelation makes it clear, at least to me, that something did happen between Jaina and Jag after the "blanket & sunset" scene in Fury. Their goodbye was more than a handshake and "take care of yourself". If you read between the lines, that is.
Or you can read any number of J/J goodbye fics floating around on BTS. Including mine.
Basically, I think the title Revelation refers to Jaina. Because Jaina has two major ones. One, that her attachment to her brother has prevented her from doing the neccessary thing. Jaina reflects that if it were any other Sith, not one related to her, she wouldn't even have paused in severing his head from his body. The second, is that she wants Jag and a family. That there is never going to be a "good" time, that it is important to seize everyday, living and loving to the fullest. Because, well, shavit happens. Fett's hopelessly complicated and pitiful family life bring that home with a thud.
To put it in a less spoilerific sense (in case you wanted to skip the highlighted part), Jaina realizes 10 years later that the speech she gave Jag on Zonoma Sekot in TUF was a bunch of bantha poodoo. She can be Jaina and the Sword of the Jedi.
And kick total and complete Sith arse while doing it.
But as for the Invincible preview at the end, I'm a little wary. Denning mentioned the Killik's twice. *taps foot* Don't you dare, Troy, don't even think about it. If you try to interject the bugs and Zekk into the mix once more, I'm going to get upset.
*glowers*
You don't want to see me very upset.

I dont think those references had anything to do with Zekk the species her and Fett were with was insectiod hence the reference.
I think the handwriting is on the wall. We will see J/J and the Empire picking up the GA pieces in the end.

Yeah, but I don't trust Denning as far as I could throw him.
But I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised.

Well now, that was a surprise. I wasn't expecting Revelation to so much as mention Jag's name, much less have Jaina think about him in a somewhat tender manner...
But, then, we still have Invincible to go. I don't know about Troy Denning. Sometimes I like his stuff, but then sometimes I want to toss certain books into the wall. Which sort will this be? Supposedly it's going to be 299 pages, which I find a little odd. A little disheartening, not only because Jaina and Jag have such a complicated relationship that will likely get the shaft in favor of all the other stuff that is going on, (please don't drag it out more. They've been going on like this for, oh, what, twelve books now?), but because I think that all finale books should be as long as JK Rowling's... (What? Stop looking at me like that. )
Anyway, hopefully we'll see.

I agree, 299 pages seems a little dodgy. Especially since we've got no confirmation to whom the publishing contract is going to.
*sighs*
I'm praying that this is some kind of typo from Sue Rostini over at TOS. I refuse to believe that they can wrap up the all the outstanding loose ends in 299 pages. To attempt to do it in anything under 400 is just craptacular.
IMHO, of course.

i just finisked the book. (bought and read it in one afternoon...booyah!)
i think we'll definitely be seeing J/J. after all....the almighty ben seems to think so.
as for teh snipet of invincible i dont think killiks will be involved (thank the force) but i do see a SERIOUS conversation between zekk and jaina wen (not if) she chooses jag.
also, on a side note, i'v been reading KT's clone commando books and can see how everything in this weird little galaxy fits together. though im terrified about the next commando book because of teh compolete lack of a certain guy in revelation.
overall the book left me dying to read the final one and intriguid as to how jaina/jedi will interact with mando's in future

Hey all! I finished the book about a week ago; sadly, I gave star wars up for lent, so I had to wait about two months to read it after it came out. So unfair. Meanwhile, I actually bought it so my brother could read it, and when he was done he came down and said, "Jacen and Luke die." Then I was all, "DON'T YOU DARE, REBEL SCUM! I WILL KILL YOU!"
He said some quote from Star Trek. I don't want to go into that. We have this Star Wars v. Star Trek thing going on in our house. It's ugly (but yes he reads Star Wars books, and yes I cried when Spock died, okay? I mean, it was SPOCK).
I'm wandering. Where was I? Oh, right.
So he said this, and I knew that couldn't be true, because there was another book to go. But he said, "Now you're going to be thinking about that throught the whole book." And I was thinking, "If only I had my lightsaber." But I couldn't get up, because I was dying on the couch. Yes, I was dying, and he still comes in and says "Jacen and Luke die." Isn't he the meanest brother you have ever heard? Other than Jacen, of course.
ANYWAY. (sucks a deep breath) Revelation was soooo good. Of course I'm sure everyone knows THAT by now. My brother and I agree that it's the first book in a while that actually feels like a Star Wars book. I was laughing my head off when everyone thought Jacen was going crazy.
But alas, it's time for Jag and Jaina. What was so minimal in the book was SO WORTH IT! I mean, Jaina was thinking, "What if Jag and I ended up like Boba and Syntas?" and I was thinking, "OMG she loves him! She so loves him!" I must reiterate (from what I said about the last book): the fact that Jag was mentioned in theses several SMALL instances strongly indicates, I think, that JAG will end up with Jaina. It seemed like Jag was the one in charge of contacting and being contacted by Jaina. Why not Zekk? Why not her parents? She obviously trusts Jag, or is trying to show Jag that she trusts him. And she kept thinking about him---NOT Zekk. This can't be a coincidence.
It was so cute, Jag moping around the academy! I was thinking, "Aw, he's like a lost puppy!" When he was talking to Ben, it was also obvious that he was very worried about Jaina, with Fett and all. It was very Jag-like. He always worries about her, but he rarely ever lets HER see that. This pulled at my heart strings:
Star Wars: Legacy of the Force: Revelation posted: Jag looked a little frayed. "I love being rear party. I live to stand around waiting for the comm to buzz. Have you heard from Jaina? Because I haven't.
Normally, I'd say this is a bad transition. But considering that he's...moping...it's just so darling. He's obviously worried and thinking about her all the time! Okay, moving on:
Star Wars: Legacy of the Force: Revelation posted: "She got there okay, didn't she?"
"I got a precomposed 'arrived safely' alert, yes."
"Jag, if she had problems---Aunt Leia would feel it."
"Maybe Fett's sold her off to the highest bidder."
"She can look after herslef."
"What if she---"
I feel for him. He doesn't have the Force, he doesn't know what's going on with her, and Jaina's too occupied to tell him. He secretly loves her (okay, not so secretly), so he needs some way to exress his concern, even if he's not sure she loves him back. That he's so worried is enough. We KNOW. I love this passage because its so Jag-esk, but also because its very Han-esk. They are more simular than they think.
However, Traviss totally pulled him out of character towards the end of that scene.
Star Wars: Legacy of the Force: Revelation posted: Jag just looked at him. Then he broke into a big, surprised grin: "Ben, you're middle-aged! Captain sensible! Overnight!
What is that about? In one of Stackpole's books, Jag said that HE was forced to grow up immediately, unlike other humans, and completely bypass the stage of adolescence. So why would Ben's manner surprise him? If anything, it should just remind him of home? I'm thinking that the reason Traviss did not use Jag a lot in the book is because she did not want to write him incorrectly...but I am very upset over this small passage. I mean, it's true that Ben had to endure a lot, but so did a lot of the others. ZEKK started out training in the Dark side, just like Ben. Jaina watched her brother DIE. And here Ben is supposedly above all those people because he worked for Jacen and GAG. I don't know. It seems wrong to me.
I was also largely disconcerted later in the book when Ben walked in on Jag and Zekk (not like that) and they were BOTH talking in low tones. Zekk is supposed to be over Jaina, right? I mean, for the love of Yoda, he needs a new woman.
I am so sorry that was so long. I just wanted to share that. I should also get a new hobby.

I think Jag was surprised because although Jag grew up being very serious, Ben grew up in the more open family like Jaina. I just think he was glad to find someone who reminded him of how he was when he was young

I'll start with the cover: there is no denying, the front is awesome. But when I put Invincible on my bookshelf, I noticed the binding was starkly BRIGHTER than the others. The first eight books have dark colors (purple, blue, green, etc), but Invincible 's cover is goldenrod and snad-colored. Also, there's the weird cirlce thing on the back, like the other hardcovers (and some of the soft covers), but it's white and sun-yellow. So I was just thinking that the contrast is very telling. As for the symbold, it reminds me of the imperial symbol, or of Palpatine's window in episode VI.
So anyway, just think that was clever, like putting the concept of redemption on the book already. It could also be intended to run parallel with the quote about the Sword of the Jedi on the back; the color scheme and design certainly reminded me of a burning fire.
I'll be back with more later. Jacen Solo Rest In Peace.

I just bought and read my copy today and I am eager to discuss!
Darkwriter posted: I'll start with the cover: there is no denying, the front is awesome. But when I put Invincible on my bookshelf, I noticed the binding was starkly BRIGHTER than the others.
OMG! I noticed that too!
Okay, so overall, I thought it was good ending... I mean, it left a few things hanging (like what's going on with Tahiri & what happened to Zekk) but most books do that. Makes people come back for the next one. I really liked that most of the book was from Jaina's POV. And the part's from Ben's POV were really good. I think that LOTF has developed him as an amazing character and I can't wait to see him in future books.
Was anyone else crying like 30 pages into the book when they were having the "council of war" and deciding tht Jacen (Caedus, whatever) had to die? When I got to that part I was bawling my freaking eyes out!! I think I cried less when he actually died. But with Leia and Han saying how Jacen had died after the YV war and that they no longer had a son.... it was heartbreaking!! Especially Han's reactions through it all.
Mirta Gev annoyed me in this book. I think that she should've died when Jaina thought she did. Keeping her alive wasn't worth anything. (Hell, more like bringing her back to life because I had already cried because I thought she was dead and then I was pissed that I cried for nothing. )
The first battle between Jaina and Jacen was awesome. I really loved Luke's touch in the whole thing, confusing Caedus and junk. Makes me wonder how powerful Luke really is... And the blood trail thing was an interesting concept. Had that been mentioned before? Because I definitely wasn't familiar with it.
The final battle between Jaina and Jacen was so sad!!! I had a feeling he was going to do something good right before he died. Damn him! I wanted to hate him until the end, but no... he had to warn Tenel Ka and Allana. Jerk. And them pretending Allana was dead was totally not cool! I was so shocked and upset that they killed her and was pissed that Luke was letting the Moff Council off easy and then it turns out she's alive. Tricky tricky.
And the whole Jag/Moff Council thing really annoyed me. I wish that it had been some big plot from the time he was rescued from Tenupe to take over the Empire and stuff. That would've been way cooler than Luke going, 'Hey Jag, you want to be handed the Empire?' 'Uhh, I guess.' 'Cool, here ya go. No remember, some of them bite.' It was just like.... what? Are you kidding me?
And the lack of J/J in the book was unacceptable! But I did like how at the end when Han said he had good news Jaina thought of Jag coming to see her. That gives me hope for a brighter J/J future.
Although I doubt it'll be in the next book that's coming out since the next book appears to be mostly about Leia/Han/Allana.
Okay... that's all for now.
